What I like about the college is that the faculty members are very good at teaching.
Placements: There are internships available in our college. A company like Candela Technologies provides internships to students based on networking. We did not get any stipend and if we do hard work and know about networking then we can get a stipend.
Infrastructure: Facilities provided by the authorities are best for the students. Food in the hostel is not good, especially in B hostel. There are many PGs and rental rooms near the university campus, and they are good. There are various programs that I have observed like NSS there are various books and journals available in the library. There are various facilities like Wi-Fi and air-conditioned rooms. Many groups are created every year among students.
Faculty: Faculty members are good and some faculty members are not good in this college. Course structure consists of 6 semesters, with each semester having three core subjects, two or three labs, one open elective subject, and two language subjects. Exam is conducted by a university that is in the same college where we are studying and the marking scheme is CGPA.

Bachelor of Pharmacy (B.Pharm.) - Batch of 2024

Life at University of Science and Technology, Meghalaya.
Placements: There are 106 students in the 2024 batch and all cleared their graduation in pharmacy with good CGPA. Among them, some got placements in various companies, whereas most of the other students are pursuing higher studies. A few students are preparing for higher studies entrance tests and doing internships in various hospitals and companies.
Infrastructure: University has well-equipped labs, good-quality classrooms, and libraries where one can find any kind of course-related study material. It also provides a computer lab with Wi-Fi facilities where students can go and work on their projects.
Faculty: Teachers are highly qualified and help students at every step, not only with course-related matters but with life as well. All teachers share a strong bond with students, which helps everyone grow in a positive mindset and environment.
Other: Being a pharmacy student, we always get to learn about new things, discover new technologies, medicines, and more. We also get a chance to make our surroundings better, which is why I chose this course.

I like faculty members who are very good at teaching.
Placements: Students are eligible for campus placements from the 6th semester. Capgemini and Cummins visited our college for campus placements. The highest salary package offered by the company in campus placements is 7.5 LPA. Students need to score an 8.5 CGPA to get campus placements. Internships start in the 4th semester in our college. I am in the third semester, and I don't know much about it. According to our seniors, Microsoft offers internships at Google. To qualify for internships, students need to create a website or app as a team of 4.
Infrastructure: There are various programs that I observed such as NSS, etc. There are various books and journals available in the library. Various facilities are available like Wi-Fi, air-conditioned rooms, etc. Many groups are created every year among students. This facility is provided by the authority, and it is the best for students. The food is very bad in the hostel, especially in the boys' hostel. There are many PGs and rented rooms near the university campus. They are good.
Faculty: There are more than 100 faculty members, so there is no issue with faculty members. Most of them have done their master's or Ph.D. out of the country. The faculty-to-student ratio is 1:60. The faculty named Stanley, I liked him the most as he tries his best to explain to students. He creates models himself and tells students how they all work.

It is the best college with the best faculty members.
Placements: Around 75-85% of students get placed. Prominent German and Scottish corporations visited and interviewed students. The gold medallist has a good chance of winning this. The primary function of the biotechnology area is that. It is a relatively new subject in India and not widely known, so it is a very beneficial one.
Infrastructure: Every floor of the department building houses labs, a library, Wi-Fi, and numerous virtual classrooms. The hostel offers free Wi-Fi, a clean and cold water supply, and decent meals. Medical facilities are provided around the clock. The cuisine in the canteen is good. A basketball court, a gym, and both indoor and outdoor stadiums are examples of sports facilities.
Faculty: Instructors are well-informed and helpful. They are good teachers. The biotechnology course applies to a wide range of fields. These tests are not particularly difficult. In addition to the one-semester exam, there are three sessional exams. Additionally, they assisted pupils in getting ready for competitive tests.

The INs and OUTs of USTM.
Placements: Our course did not provide us with placement opportunities as it strictly adhered to a coaching environment, with the main goal of the course being the competitive examinations, namely UPSC. The course also did not encourage internships as it would take away the focus on academics and self-reading time for the students.
Infrastructure: The facilities were up to date, with an elevator in each block, a power generator, and fans in each classroom. There were designated cleaning staff for each block and a block coordinator to ensure the smooth functioning of the block. The hostel facilities were also up to date, containing 3-sitter and 2-sitter rooms, with attached and non-attached bathrooms, a water filter on each floor, and a cooler in the mess hall. There is also a medical hospital on campus that provides free and discounted treatment to the students of the university. The university holds annual sports events spanning across each Saturday for about a month or so to encourage physical fitness alongside academic prowess.
Faculty: The teachers appointed for our department all come from UPSC backgrounds, making them highly qualified for the course. The course is very relevant in this current day and age when a huge chunk of the population is vying for a placement through various competitive examinations. This course provides a platform for students to not just attain a bachelor’s degree but also prepare them for various examinations, giving them an edge over other competitors. Each semester’s syllabus is carefully curated to ensure maximum knowledge is imparted to the students over the duration of three years.
Other: I opted for my course (Administration and Governance) as it provides the best of both worlds; being a bachelor’s degree along with a coaching environment to help better prepare students for competitive examinations. However, while the course syllabus makes the best use of our three years in the university, a more systematic and chronological order of world events, especially for history, would be more appreciated. The university has an annual fest garnering a huge crowd of students from inside and outside. The campus is surrounded by lush greenery, making it truly a place to be. Scholarships are also provided to students on a need and merit basis. There are various extracurricular activities encouraged by the university, such as horse riding clubs, driving clubs, literary clubs, etc.
