Q:   How good is a BDes at VIT Vellore?

BDes is one of the popular courses of VIT Vellore. VIT offers BDes in Industrial Design for a duration of four years through VIT School of Design. PROTICS Studio (PROduct aestheTICS), 3D-iD Studio with 30 iMacs, Smart PD Lab, Ergonomics Lab, and Painting Booth are some of the advantages of studying BDes at VIT Vellore. The overall placement data revealed by the university talks about the excellent opportunities offered to the students. As per the official website,  904 recruiters participated in the placement drive and presented 14,345 job offers to the students till April 4, 2023. The the highest package and average package offered during VIT Vellore placements 2023 stood at INR 1.02 crore per annum and INR 9.23 LPA,  respectively.

Q:   Can I join VIT without 60% in PCM for BDes?

A: 

No, a minimum of Class 12 with at least 60% in PCM is required to apply for VIT Vellore BDes programme. However, there is relaxation in percentage for SC/ ST and students from North-Eastern states. Check below the detailed eligibility:

  • Indian nationals/ Non-resident Indian National can apply for BDes course.
  • Candidates should have passed Class 12 or Intermediate or two-year Pre-University Examination conducted by a recognised board/ university or its equivalent examination with at least 60% aggregate with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics as subjects to apply for BDes.
  • Students who have appeared for Class 12 finals and awaiting results can also apply, subject to submission of passing certificate by the notified date.

Note: In case, applicants belong to SC/ST community or hail from Jammu and Kashmir/ Ladakh and the North Eastern States of Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland, Sikkim and Tripura, 10% relaxation is provided.

Q:   Can I join VIT Vellore BDes without entrance?

A: 

No, aspirants wishing to apply for BDes course at VIT Vellore should either have UCEED score or appeared for VIT DAT (Design Aptitude Test). VIT-DAT is a written exam of two hours duration consisting of objective type questions - MSQ & MCQ, short descriptive answers, and creative ability questions with no negative marking. The university gives 50% weightage to entrance exam score. After entrance exam, the next step of selection is based on portfolio followed by a personal interview round.

Q:   When will the results of UCEED 2025 exam be declared?

A: 

IIT Bombay will declare the results of UCEED 2025 on March 7, 2025.

The candidate has to check the results online at the UCEED 2025 admission portal - uceed.iitb.ac.in.

The results would be declared for all candidates who appear in the design entrance exam. However, merit ranks will be released only for candidates who qualify Part A and get shortlisted. Part B answer booklets of candidates who fails to qualify Part A will not be evaluated. IIT Bombay will release the qualifying marks for Part A at the time of declaration of results or sometime thereabout.

Q:   When will the UCEED 2025 exam be conducted?

A: 

IIT Bombay will conduct the UCEED 2025 exam on January 19, 2025 (9 am - 12 noon). The exam will have two mandatory parts. The computer-based Part A and offline-based Part B.

The UCEED 2025 admission portal is uceed.iitb.ac.in. The portal will contain all the important updates about the UCEED 2025 exam, including information brochure, eligibility criteria, syllabus, candidate portal, and useful resources.

Among resources the candidate can download include - previous years question and answer keys.  

The online application forms for UCEED 2025 are open from October 1-31, 2024. With late fees, applications will be accepted till November 8, 2024.

    Our college has a good infrastructure and awesome campus life.
    Placements: As of now, students are placed in tech-based companies for UI/UX and industry-related placements are yet to come. More than 30% of students have been placed. Students have been placed in tech companies like Infosys. By opting for this course, you can either go for UI/UX or choose product design.
    Infrastructure: The architectural beauty of the design block in our college is next level. You won't feel like you're studying in a college when you enter the design block. Classrooms are open and you'll get free Wi-Fi to surf the web. Macs and Wacom Cintiqs are accessible for everyone in this course. There are 18 hostel blocks for men as of now and the hostel infrastructure is also good. They provide good and healthy food with varieties of dishes.
    Faculty: Teachers in our college are qualified and more helpful. They make sure that you learned the topics properly and help you in a friendly way. They make sure that students are industry-ready. Semester exams are only a bit difficult in the first semester. Other than that, it's totally fine.

    There is no such thing as cutoff. It depends on your rank that you get via VITEEE exam.

    No. You won't be able to get a seat in VIT. Most of the seats get over around 40k rank. You won't be able to get a seat in any of the campus.
