The University follows a marking system instead of grading for evaluation of examination. The semester letter grade, grade point and percentage of marks for each course are introduced in seven-point indirect grading systems. Evaluation schemes consist of two parts, Internal Assessment and External Assessment
1. Internal Assessment: The weightage of internal assessment is 20%. It is based on a predetermined system which includes written test/ assignments/ seminars/ viva and attendance. Internal assessment of a project is based on its content, method of presentation, final conclusion and orientation. The attendance for each course will be evaluated as below:
Attendance |
Marks Allotted |
---|---|
Above 90% |

76% - 79% |

2. External Assessment: It carries 80% of marks. The external evaluation of even semesters is conducted in centralised valuation camps right after the examination. Answer scripts of odd semester exams are evaluated by home/ centralised valuation. The evaluation of theory examination is done by examiners based on a well-defined valuation scheme and the evaluation of practical examination is done by two examiners – one internal and an external.
The evaluation of each course is based on a seven-point scale grade. Each course is evaluated by assigning marks with a letter grade which are A+, A, B, C, D, E or F.
Minimum Requirement: An aggregate of E grade with 40% marks is required in each course to pass the examination.
After successful completion of a semester, Semester Grade Point Average (SGPA) is calculated using the formula below:
Similarly, the Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) is calculated at the end of a programme. The formula for the same is given below:
The evaluation is carried out using a marking system. The grading of internal and external marks will be indicated for each course and each semester for the entire programme. Indirect grading system in the seven-point scale is as follows:
