A:

Based on the information you've provided, your JEE Mains percentile of 79 is decent and could be a competitive score for admission to Sastra University, Thanjavur. Sastra University is known for its competitive admission process, and the cutoff marks can vary each year. It's essential to have a clear understanding of the admission requirements and eligibility criteria to make an informed decision.

In case your JEE Mains percentile meets or exceeds the cutoff set by Sastra University for your desired course, you stand a good chance of getting admission. Remember, admissions to universities can be competitive, and it's always a good idea to have backup options. There are many other reputable institutions that offer quality education in engineering and other fields. Research thoroughly, consider all available choices, and apply to multiple universities to increase your chances of getting accepted.

College life at Sastra 2024.
Placements: Placement at Sastra is pretty good. About 40% of graduates get higher packages, like 10 to 12 LPA. However, there is a huge gap between college lectures and placements. Many MNCs from across India attend placements here, so if you are good at technical skills, you don't need to worry.
Infrastructure: Sastra has good infrastructure. There is a gym for boys and girls, a technology development center, a research center, a library, hostels, and more. There is Wi-Fi everywhere, and all classrooms have projectors. Every block has an elevator, water purification machines, and lab facilities.
Faculty: Sastra has three CIA exams, which are like internal tests. The best of the two highest scores is considered. Lab exams are based on the course and are worth 50 marks. The final semester exam is worth 50 marks. In the second year and beyond, students also have separate lab courses.

One of the best college, Good placement -2023.
Placements: Around 85% are placed. The highest package is 43 LPA and the lowest is around 3 LPA per annum. The average package would be around 7 LPA per annum. Around 70% of students who got placed would have gone to internships. PayPal is one of the top recruiters, and InFocus, TCS, and CTS are some of the most prominent recruiters.
Infrastructure: Infrastructure is great, with the campus surrounded by free Wi-Fi, AC labs, and a top-class library. The mess is completely vegetarian. The college has around five canteens with cheap and tasty food and snacks, but they are all vegetarian. There is a small hospital on campus, and all kinds of sports and games are supported, along with cultural activities.
Faculty: Faculty are of top-notch quality, highly qualified and knowledgeable. They help the students in all ways, supporting internships, placements, and research papers. The curriculum is up to industry standards and helps us secure placements. Semesters are quite difficult, as is the grading system. It's an absolute grading system, and the pass percentage is 50%.
Other: I chose this course as I was deeply interested in Computer Science. The campus has around 6 fests, of which 3 are inter-college fests, each happening for 3 days. It's a 300-acre campus, and scholarships are provided for deserving candidates and North East students.

Absolutely satisfied with faculty and placements, but the mess and infrastructure are not good.
Placements: PLACEMENTS WAS AVERAGE HERE IN SASTRA, TOP COMPANIES ARE WELLSFARGO, JPMORGAN, PAYPAL, FIDELITY, ORACLE etc. In my course, I don't know the exact percentage, but a good number of students are placed with a decent average package. Internship opportunities are less.
Infrastructure: The college infrastructure was not up to the mark. All the hostel blocks are very old, and there are no proper facilities. As for department blocks, they are very good and attractive, with good Wi-Fi coverage and nice infrastructure. The department blocks are very appealing, and there is space for a variety of games.
Faculty: Yes, the curriculum was very nice, and we learned a lot about new things. The faculty are also very good, as they are experienced. The semester exams were not that difficult. The teaching quality was effective, as they use projectors for teaching.

Best college for developing new skills.
Placements: 85% to 90% of students will be placed annually. The highest package is 45 lpa, the average is 8 lpa, and the lowest is 2–3 lpa. TCS, Wipro, Zoho, and PayPal are the top recruiters here. 20% of students received an internship from last semester onward. For those students, the SEM exam mark will be taken from their company itself.
Infrastructure: Labs and the library are good here, with an AC facility. The hostel is clean and neat, but the food is purely vegetarian. A free Wi-Fi facility, snacks in the evening, and a homekeeper are available at the hostel. In case of any emergency, the hospital is here in the college itself.
Faculty: Faculty are helpful with industrial experience. Each faculty has 1 or 2 PhDs. Deans and professors are graduates from highly prestigious universities like IIT, NIT, etc. The curriculum is relevant to industrial problems. But we need some improvement. Semester exams are more difficult compared to other universities like VIT, SRM, etc. The pass percentage is 50. 50 is internal, and another 50 alone is external.
Other: I have good basics in coding so I choose CSE.

Strong industry-focused curriculum with vibrant campus life.
Placements: For the SASTRA University B.Tech CSE batch, around 90% of students are typically placed each year. The highest package often reaches around 40 LPA, the lowest can be around 3-4 LPA, with an average package of approximately 6-7 LPA. Top recruiters include Amazon, TCS, Infosys, Cognizant, and Microsoft, offering roles like software developer, data scientist, and system engineer. Internships are secured by about some of the students in companies such as Amazon, Zoho, and PayPal.
Infrastructure: SASTRA University's B.Tech CSE infrastructure includes Wi-Fi-enabled campuses, high-tech labs, and a vast library. Hostel facilities are well-maintained, with clean rooms, 24/7 security, and nutritious food in the mess. Medical services are on-site, and sports facilities offer options like cricket, basketball, and tennis.
Faculty: SASTRA University CSE faculty is highly qualified, knowledgeable, and generally supportive, helping students grasp complex concepts. The curriculum is designed with industry standards in mind, blending foundation theory with practical skills to make students job-ready. Exams are moderately challenging but fair, with most students able to pass through consistent study. The overall pass percentage is high, reflecting the comprehensive preparation provided by the coursework and faculty.
Other: I chose the SASTRA University's B.Tech. CSE program for its industry-aligned curriculum and strong teaching foundation. The course excels with hands-on labs, skilled faculty, and industry connections, though more electives and soft skill training would enhance it. Campus life is lively with fests, clubs, sports, scholarships, and a well-connected, peaceful environment, offering a balanced academic and extracurricular experience.
