Q:   I got 79 percentile in JEE Mains and 66% in Class 12. Will I get admission to Sastra University, Thanjavur?

    A:

Based on the information you've provided, your JEE Mains percentile of 79 is decent and could be a competitive score for admission to Sastra University, Thanjavur. However, your class 12 percentage of 66% might be slightly below the usual cutoff for some courses at the university. To increase your chances of admission, I recommend checking Sastra University's official website or contacting their admission department for the specific cutoff scores and eligibility criteria for the course you are interested in.

Sastra University is known for its competitive admission process, and the cutoff marks can vary each year. It's essential to have a clear understanding of the admission requirements and eligibility criteria to make an informed decision.

In case your JEE Mains percentile meets or exceeds the cutoff set by Sastra University for your desired course, you stand a good chance of getting admission. However, if the cutoff is higher, you may consider other options or explore different courses that align with your JEE Mains score and class 12 percentage.

Remember, admissions to universities can be competitive, and it's always a good idea to have backup options. There are many other reputable institutions that offer quality education in engineering and other fields. Research thoroughly, consider all available choices, and apply to multiple universities to increase your chances of getting accepted.

I wish you the best of luck with your admission process, and I hope you find the right university and course that aligns with your academic goals and aspirations!"

Great Industry Exposure, Strong Faculty Support, and Excellent Campus Facilities.
Placements: 30% of students were placed. The highest package offered was 19 LPA, and the lowest was 4 LPA. Top recruiting companies included Amazon, TCS, CTS, and Deloitte. 30 percent of students got internships at companies like Amazon, Deloitte, and Emphasis. The top roles offered were Software Engineer (SDE), Embedded System Designer, Data Analyst, Firmware Developer, and VLSI Engineer.
Infrastructure: The campus has high-speed Wi-Fi connectivity available across academic buildings, libraries, and hostels. It supports research, project work, and online learning without interruptions. Well-equipped labs are available for hands-on learning in areas such as embedded systems, software development, networking, and data science. For embedded systems specifically, there are microcontroller programming and IoT labs with the necessary hardware.
Faculty: The faculty members are highly qualified, with many holding advanced degrees (M.Tech, Ph.D.) from reputable institutions. Several professors have industry experience. Professors are approachable, offering guidance during office hours and through mentorship. They encourage students to ask questions and engage in discussions. They are knowledgeable in their fields and often provide real-world examples.
Other: While there are internships and some industry projects, greater collaboration with companies for live projects could improve practical exposure. More electives focusing on advanced topics like AI in embedded systems or autonomous systems could add significant value. Increasing the number of workshops and guest lectures by industry professionals would provide further insights into current trends and career opportunities.

    Excellence in engineering.
Placements: We're the first batch for this course. The highest salary package is 12 LPA, the lowest is 5 LPA, and the average is 7-8 LPA. The top employers are TCS, CTS, Amazon, Cognizant, and Deloitte. About 70% of students got internships. The top job roles are Robotics Engineer, AI/ML Engineer, and Robotics Software Engineer.
Infrastructure: Sastra University provides high-speed internet access with Wi-Fi connectivity across the campus, including lecture halls, libraries, and student hostels. This is crucial for research, assignments, and online collaboration, particularly in AI and robotics.
Faculty: The faculty is experienced and knowledgeable, and the curriculum is relevant to current industry demands. If students struggle with the exams, additional support is usually provided, including remedial classes and doubt-solving sessions.
Other: I chose this course because I wanted to pursue a career in AI and robotics. Sastra University provides a comprehensive campus experience that goes beyond academics. From vibrant festivals and technical events to a wide range of extracurricular activities, the university fosters both academic and personal growth.

    Dissatisfied about placements after corona.
Placements: About 60% of students get placements on campus. The highest salary offered was 33 LPA, and the lowest was 3 LPA. Fifty percent of students get internships. The top recruiting companies are TCS, IBM, Accenture, Capgemini, Infotech, L&T, Asian Paints, and Microsoft.
Infrastructure: The college has a good library with all the books I need. It also has a lot of canteens, which is convenient. However, the mess food is not suitable for most Telugu people. The hostels are not that great, but they are okay for the price. There is a medical hospital on campus, and if there is an emergency, the hostel wardens will take you to an outside hospital.
Faculty: All the teachers were helpful, qualified, and knowledgeable. The teaching was understandable, and all the teachers completed the syllabus on time, well before the upcoming exams. The semester exams were above average in difficulty, which helped us understand the questions and execute them.
Other: I chose this course because I thought it was the best option after MBBS in the medical field. I liked that it gave me the flexibility to choose either research or software. However, I think the campus placements for our course could be improved.

    Good education with low fees.
Placements: The college states that 90 percent of the students are getting placed during the placements. The highest package is 50 LPA and the lowest is 2 LPA, with the average being 6-7 LPA. Top recruits are TCS, CTS, QUALCOMM, WIPRO. 50% of the students are getting internships in the 4th year. I wanted to be a core ECE engineer.
Infrastructure: Wi-Fi is available only for laptops, and it is not available for mobile phones. There is a library with great resources, and many are benefiting from it. The food available at Sastra is pure veg, and non-veg is prohibited inside the campus. There are many grounds, and a hospital is available.
Faculty: All the teachers are Ph.D. holders with a minimum of 3 patents. They are very experienced. The curriculum is relevant to the course you are studying. The syllabus is common for all first years. Yes, it makes students industry-ready. The semester exams are tough, and they mostly have application-type questions.

    College life at Sastra 2024.
Placements: Placement at Sastra is pretty good. About 40% of graduates get higher packages, like 10 to 12 LPA. However, there is a huge gap between college lectures and placements. Many MNCs from across India attend placements here, so if you are good at technical skills, you don't need to worry.
Infrastructure: Sastra has good infrastructure. There is a gym for boys and girls, a technology development center, a research center, a library, hostels, and more. There is Wi-Fi everywhere, and all classrooms have projectors. Every block has an elevator, water purification machines, and lab facilities.
Faculty: Sastra has three CIA exams, which are like internal tests. The best of the two highest scores is considered. Lab exams are based on the course and are worth 50 marks. The final semester exam is worth 50 marks. In the second year and beyond, students also have separate lab courses.

Review of Srinivasa Ramanujan Center, SASTRA.
Placements: There are many students who placed every year. But this year there is a very less percentage of placements on campus. The average package is 6 LPA. 70-80% of students got internships from my course and there are companies like Infosys, TCS, Ninja, Capgemini, Comcast, etc.
Infrastructure: Compared to the main campus, this campus doesn't have any good infrastructure. There is a library in the college with limited seats. There is no hostel for Srinivasa Ramanjan Centre campus. There is a small canteen here with minimal items.
Faculty: The teachers are not highly qualified. But some of them are good. And knowledgeable. The teaching quality is okay. The semester and mid examinations were very difficult; they don't even give good marks. The faculty are very strict. The pass marks are 50 out of 100. Three will be 50-50 marks for CIAs.
