BAMU to offer course in stock market from June 2017

Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar Marathwada University (BAMU) has joined hands with the National Stock Exchange for a special course that will teach the basic of stock market.

A memorandum of understanding (MoU) was signed between BAMU authorities and NSE representatives on Wednesday.

The six-month certificate course will have an intake of 40 students in its first batch starting June this year.

Titled NSE Certified Capital Market Professional Course, the programme is aimed at creating awareness and financial literacy among the youth, professionals and general public at large, said Syed Azharuddin, a senior faculty at BAMU.

"The course is a part of the campaign that aims to enhance the awareness about basics of stock market among public at large," he said.

Elaborating on the course structure, he said, "The special certificate course will focus on the concepts of stock market operations, technical analysis and portfolio management among other topics…The course will be more practical oriented than merely disseminating theoretical knowledge. Senior faculties from the university and a resource person from outside will serve as a teacher for the course," he added.

The eligibility criteria of the unique course is Graduation in any discipline from a recognized university. The total fee of the course has been fixed at Rs 15,000.

The candidates completing the course would receive joint certification from BAMU and NSE.
