DU JAT 2021: Expert Tips for the Students
- For the coming weeks, whether you like it or not, there is no escaping Business Awareness+Current Affairs.
- Continue to expand your knowledge and keep getting better on a daily basis.
- Create a supreme differentiation between yourself and other candidates.
- Score Higher: The more aware you are, the more questions you can answer and score better. Moreover, it reduces the pressure on other subjects.
- Maximize ROI on Time: Answering a question in this section cannot take more than 15 seconds. The entire section can be attempted in around 7 to 10 minutes. The time you save here can be put to extremely good use to answer more questions in other sections (say QA or LR).
- Logical Reasoning: It is not just about solving questions; it is about solving the questions in the right amount of time. So once you have your LR target in place, make sure you work towards scoring those marks in that amount of time. And that is all to it. Go for REGULAR PRACTICE AND TOPIC TESTS for the section. Focus on scoring what you have set out for in the allocated time.
- Most Scoring Section: LR is the most scoring section of DU JAT, so set a reasonably high target for this section and go all guns blazing on it in the exam.
- Practice Intensively: There is no end to patterns that you may encounter on topics such as Coding & Decoding, Series and Syllogisms. The more you practice, the better you will get at managing your time in this section.
- Quantitative Techniques and Verbal Ability: Invariably, candidates find themselves comfortable in one of these two sections while unsettled in the other. If you are one of those, remember that it is normal and must not hamper your preparation plan in any way. Give AT LEAST ONE TOPIC TEST for the section you’re comfortable with on a regular basis to get an even better hold. If VA is that area, make sure you don't leave any stone unturned to give it your absolute best in that section. DU JAT is a vocabulary dominant exam therefore a student should pay a lot of attention to this topic. If QA is weak, then focus on concepts to achieve the bare minimum target by doing those topics regularly. Scan out the easy questions, take your time with that section and go for only those questions that you are absolutely certain about.
How Should One Strategize for DU JAT 2021
- Previous Years’ Papers: It should be the first step to start with DU JAT preparation. Practice the previous years’ papers; they give you an idea of the level of the paper and the exam pattern. If you are someone who has a problem with completing the questions on time, then set a time limit for yourself when you practice.
- Plan an Exam Strategy: This is important especially when the time is limited. Attempt the sections you are good at and leave the rest for later. A strategy while you attempt the questions can come in handy.
- Don’t mark your answers randomly: Since there will be negative marking, be absolutely sure about the accuracy of the answer in order to avoid losing marks.
- Don’t pick up new topics or chapters at the last moment: Utilize the time in revising the already covered syllabus and topics. This will help you have a stronghold on those topics.
- Difficult Questions: While attempting the paper, don’t remain stuck on a difficult question; move ahead if that happens. Remember, every question has equal weightage. At times you can reach the right answer by eliminating options that are not relevant to the question. So, think about each option and its relevance, you never know what clicks!
- General Knowledge: This section is a huge impediment. If you find yourself in the same predicament, polish your rusty general knowledge, read the newspaper, GK refresher magazines and browse through general GK books. Remember, current affairs are extremely important.
- Be calm, cool and collected: This paper is nothing but an aptitude test, and if you have your concepts and fundamentals clear, you don’t need to worry about anything.
The current situation is challenging for everyone, and as students, you have shown a lot of perseverance and patience which is commendable at your age. You have surpassed all the levels of anxiety and are continuously overpowering yourself with constant enthusiasm and zeal. Remember, you are not alone. We are here to help and guide you all the way.
