Candidates who has passed the 10+2 or its equivalent examination is eligible to apply provided he/she has also passed in English having full marks not being less than 100. No candidate shall be allowed for admission after a lapse of more than 3 years from the year of passing the previous qualifying examination or discontinuation of recognized regular Course of Study after passing the previous qualifying examination. For the purpose of determining eligibility for admission to the Honours Course, aggregate marks shall be calculated by adding the marks in top-four subjects in order of marks secured by a candidate. However, marks in compulsory Environmental Education /Studies shall not be taken into account for calculation of aggregate marks. Candidate must have aggregate 50% and Philosophy: 45% OR Aggregate: 50% (without Philosophy) However, Candidates belonging to the SC/ ST or OBC Community must have obtained a minimum of 40% marks in the aggregate.

Absolute good because of their faculty and the reputation.

Placements: Asutosh College is a well-known government college of South Kolkata and is a general degree college. The college provides placement in other departments but B.A. philosophy is not in the placement department. But college provides many skills development course that helps you to crack interviews.

Infrastructure: Asutosh College is a heritage college in Kolkata that is more than 100 years old. The infrastructure is good compared to other government colleges. The college has a main building, an annexe building, humanities building, and a centenary building, there are a couple of libraries there and some classrooms are fully air-conditioned, the college also has an elevator. However, they don't have any hostel but in the college area, there are lots of PG for migrant students.

Faculty: The faculty is top-notch and reputed. Professors are Doctors and knowledgeable, they teach us in a modern way easily describing hard things. The philosophy is more than talking about life this gives you the right vision to see this world in different ways, how this world works and everything. The semester exams are conducted by Calcutta University.

Other: The college gives you every point of knowledge that you need in your career and also in your life.

Really good and encouraging about the extracurricular activities.

Placements: So my course is Philosophy Honours. It's a four-year course. Since it is not a professional course, there is no such scope for placements and recruitments. There are good internship opportunities if you can and are up for it. But you will to maintain proper attendance and a proper interaction with your professors.

Infrastructure: Our college is famous for its sports department. The ex-captain of the Indian football team, Sunil Chetri, is our alumni, so it has a good football team and overall encourages sports very much. It has its own casual games room for students to chill and play games like table tennis, carrom, etc. And since it is air-conditioned, it is a popular spot for students to chill. The canteen food is also good. The main building has traditional old classrooms, but the Annex Building and the IT building have centrally air-conditioned rooms and modern-day equipment like projectors, smart boards, etc. The library smells like old books. Well, it is like a museum. An air-conditioned museum. Labs are okay, not bad, but not that great too.

Faculty: Teaching quality was above average, no complaints about the faculty. Respect your teacher no matter how little they teach. Well, as it is not a professional course, not much can be said about it in a professional sense. But the curriculum is as per Calcutta University, which is pretty good. Moderate to high-level difficult exams.

Other: I didn't choose this course; it chose me. The best thing about my course is that it is my course. More pretty girls in my course would be a great thing to wish for. Very good campus crowd. Right beside Jatin Das Park metro station, so top-level connectivity and surroundings. Scholarships are given out based on merit, rank, and reservations. As I said, particularly good in the extracurricular section, our college is.

Asutosh college is the best Government College in South Kolkata.

Placements: In the philosophy department, the college is not providing placements because the philosophy subject is not a technical orientation subject, so there are no internships or placements. In other subjects, placements are average, and they are also providing some internships in other subjects.

Infrastructure: The college has many labs and the classrooms are fully air-conditioned. There are also three libraries in that college but the college doesn't have any hostel facilities. The infrastructure is good enough. The college have a canteen, a medical facility, and a sports facility.

Faculty: The teachers are well qualified; they all have Ph.D. degrees and they are teaching in a very effective manner. They teach theory-based topics in a practical way so that everybody understands the topic in an easy way. The philosophy degree is a 4-year Bachelor of Arts degree so this is not an industry-based program. The programme is based on a semester exam affiliated with Calcutta University, and the passing percentage is 23% to qualify for the semester.

Other: Asutosh College is found in Hajra, Kolkata. Asutosh College is one of the best Government College in south Kolkata. So they charge a minimum fee and give maximum results of classroom campus, etc. They provided mini-events for farewells and freshers. Because of the college government, the state government provides many scholarships, like the Swami Vivekananda merit scholarship and the college also provides some financial aid students.
