Candidate must have passed 10+2 with Physics, Mathematics along with any one of Chemistry/Biotechnology/Biology/Computer Science/Computer Application/Technical Vocational Subject as compulsory subjects with individual pass marks (in both theory and practical wherever applicable) with above mentioned percentage in all the three subjects taken together in regular class mode. Candidate must have passed English in the 10+2 with at least 30% marks. The Board of the said Qualifying Examination must be recognized by the Central Government or State Government concerned. Candidate must be a citizen of India. The lower age limit is 17 (seventeen) years as on 31.12.2021. A candidate should have been born on or before 31.12.2004. There is no upper age limit. Students awaiting results can also apply on provisional basis.

The college is good but many things are still to be improved.

Placements: Some good companies such as TCS, Byju's, Amazon.in, etc. conducted on-campus recruitment drive. Placements were fairly done. Many deserving candidates got placed in well-known companies, on-campus and off-campus as well. The only drawback is that the college doesn't make efforts for the preparation like any other institute neither conducts any industrial visit.

Infrastructure: The facilities are good but can be made better. The infrastructure is fine but the labs need to be updated. Some of the labs' machines don't work properly. We have to perform the experiment in a group of 5-6 or more. As for the hostel, the food provided in the mess is pure vegetarian and the quality and menu is not so good, which costs a little more for the mess charges per semester. Otherwise, the hostel's rooms and washrooms are good.

Faculty: According to me, the faculty members are good. They are knowledgeable and qualified but they are not much helpful. Most of the teachers are Bengalis, and for non-Bengalis, it can become somewhat difficult to understand the language if something is explained in Bengali.

Other: After taking admission in this college, I only felt that the girls' hostel is uselessly strict. The 1st-year girls are not allowed to go out of the campus until they are in the college uniform. Neither does the college has any medical emergency doctor. Warden and caretaker's behaviour made it worse for me to stay in the hostel.

Good college in Durgapur as compared to others with all the proper facilities provided.

Placements: Placement over here is good. Companies approaching the colleges are offering a minimum package of 3 lacs per annum. The number of software visiting are more core companies. But still, the students of core branches are getting placed. The major companies which come for placement are Tech Mahindra, Think And Learn, SAP Labs, ASilico with quite suitable packages. The college also provide references to the students who are eligible for it.

Infrastructure: The college has a good library with all sort of books related to academic and every aspect of books. Old as well as new edition books are available. Fully centralized AC and Wi-Fi is being provided in the library. The labs are fully equipped and all the equipment are well-maintained. The classrooms are in a good condition as well as are having proper light and fan facilities. Medical facility is also present as the college is linked with the nearby hospital. Games are organized regularly. The canteen has the normal quality of food.

Faculty: The faculty members are helpful, cooperative and understanding. They are always ready to help the students, not only in the class but during the off-hours also. The teachers always make sure that the syllabus is finished on time, take tests, and clear the doubts of every student. Teachers are very supportive and always encourage the student. Teachers motivate the student to do new stuff and come up with innovative ideas. The course curriculum is useful but the teachers also provide extra knowledge to the students.

College days - a period well spent!

Placements: I was placed in my final year in a Bangalore based MNC. The placement of my college was more than average. Even though we were the first batch of our college, our college made all possible arrangements to get through various on-campus drives. 60% of students were successfully placed. Highest salary offered was 30000-40000, lowest was 12000-16000 and the average salary was 20000-28000. Companies like TCS, Wipro, Thoughtworks, Tech Mahindra etc. visited our campus. Roles offered were associate software developer, junior system engineer, sales and marketing consultant and so on. Internships were offered to 20-30% students. The stipend was of an average range. Including the highest, lowest and average, the range was 2000-7000.

Infrastructure: Infra such as wi-fi, labs, classrooms, library, medical facilities, sports facilities were fairly good in the campus. Labs and classrooms were fully equipped with latest experimental devices for respective subjects. Classrooms were airy and ventilated which creates a calm and cool environment required to study. Regarding food, our college canteen and hostel provided only veg food but no doubt the food quality was amazing. They provided food 4 times a day, including evening snacks and tea. Hostels rooms are spacious and well equipped. Rooms, toilets, bathrooms, corridor and mess were completely clean and well-maintained.

Faculty: The faculty of our college was amazingly good. They were very helpful and friendly with us. They were well qualified and knowledgeable and capable of imparting proper education to us. They used to teach using blackboards, whiteboards and presentations which were totally useful. Student to faculty ratio was 10:1. We had an industrial training in our curriculum which was relevant to our brand. Like I pursued 2 different industrial trainings: at TISCO for telecommunication in my 2nd year and BSNL training in my 3rd year. Of course, we had proper classroom education and industrial training along with sports, extra curricular activities such as various competition being held on our campus. These were totally useful to shape our academics as well as personal growth.

Absolutely dissatisfied of facilities and faculties.

Placements: Placements in Bengal College of Engineering and Technology for Women (now Bengal college of Engineering) are not very good. Hardly 5 to 10 students got placed in the campus placements while the others try their own at off-campus placements. The teachers are very poor, especially in the electronics and communication engineering department. Whatever the students achieve, they achieve on their own with minimum support of the college and faculty members. I was in electronics and communication engineering department where a total of eight students got placed in campus and ten to fifteen students got placed from computer engineering and IT departments. Companies like Tech Mahindra, Cognizant and Swadesh Software visited last year.

Infrastructure: Bengal College of Engineering is a private college under the West Bengal University of Technology. The infrastructure of the college is very small as there is only one building in which all the classes held for different departments. A total of six hostels are there, three for girls and three for boys. The girls' hostel is in shared with the girl students of another college(Bengal College of Engineering and Technology). The college lacks basic amenities like a good quality hostel, mess facilities and water problem which is a serious issue in the hostel. There are no AC room options available for the students, and no proper laboratories for practical. The books are limited in the library and many times, we have to arrange books by our own or from the seniors. A LAN facility is available for the students but with very poor speed and time limit. Not a single AC is available in classrooms, and even a generator is not available.

Faculty: The poor faculty members are the biggest cause of concern, especially in my department(electronics and communication engineering). All the teachers are around 25-35 years. While some of them teach very well, some them do not even know how to teach. There is lots of partiality from the teachers as they give preference and importance to the Bengali students and make fun of the other students. In viva, all the teachers gather to make fun of the non-Bengali students. This kind of behaviour demoralised many students here.

Other: This college must be the worst engineering college in terms of infrastructure, campus amenities and faculty members. There is a huge scarcity of toilets and water in hostels, and the college library is not updated. Hardly four or five companies visited for the campus selection, which were mostly software companies.
