B.Tech. in Chemical Engineering - Batch of 2017

Placements for chemical engineers are good.
Placements: The placement record of our college was average at that time. IT and non-IT students got placed on campus. Indian Navy, Tech Mahindra, Unimark Remedies, AB Polybag, and other IT and non-IT companies visited the campus. I was offered the job of a chemical engineer in placements.
Infrastructure: The infrastructure of our college is not up to the mark. Classrooms, hostel, and canteen are not maintained properly. Proper instruments are not available. Cleaning is not done properly. The colour of the building has faded. The front gate is also in the same condition.
Faculty: The core branch faculty are very helpful and highly qualified. There is no doubt about it. They used proper teaching method to communicate with students. Assignments are given by them for checking the ability of students. The student to faculty ratio is too high.

CIT- A nightmare to pursue chemical engineering.
Placements: Simply bad placements, atleast for mechanical chemical and civil. There are some cross domain placement but for core chemical it simply is waste of money. Unless one has exceptionally good engineering knowledge 8.00+ CGPA and good communication skills to crack line (BOC), IOCL or Himadri Chemicals pool campusing or can crack GATE or PSU, they are doomed.
Infrastructure: Good Wi-Fi, some of the labs are really good but most labs are filled with cheap instruments that barely work. Plus there is lack of ample light fan itself. The library is very good. Language lab is quite good, so are all the chemistry labs. There is canteen that serves overpriced food.
Faculty: The chemistry faculty is god-like, but some of the best chemical faculty has left college, making the chemical department and its placements weak. Faculty of transport phenomena is not really good. Thermodynamics needs better faculty. Fluid mech has lost its sheen after the departure of Baishali ma'am.
Other: Fest sort of happens, there is freshers every year though.

Dissatisfied with the college because of faculty, infrastructure, and facilities.
Placements: In the year 2017, nearly about 75% students were placed by on-campus as well as off-campus placements, which was far better than the previous year (about 63%). In our branch, almost 90% of the students got jobs in the core sector along with IT-based firms. Salaries offered to the students were quite nominal, but you have to fight with the college authorities for placements. They are not even interested in going for campus drives.
Infrastructure: The institute has a quite large area to be cherished, but the college authorities are too lazy to do anything. Besides that, the college has a large library, but it has no Wi-Fi facility for students. There is no arrangement of indoor games. Every department has their own laboratory with required instruments, but most of them are not working. You can't get a proper result after an experiment. I was not allotted any hostel room, but it was heard that rooms and food, both were very dangerous for any student's health.
Faculty: The institute is affiliated to Maulana Abul Kalam Azad University of Technology, so the syllabus, exams and question papers are set by the university. Most of the faculty members in every department are vague, under-educated, illogical, partial except for 2-3 teachers. They will favour you if you butter them very much. Some departments don't have a proper teacher to students ratio, which is very shameful.
Other: There are no cultural fests or technical fests in the college. You may have some departmental seminars. You will not get the refund of your caution money if you get a job from any on-campusing placement drive by the college. Every time, they are ready to take money from you but will not provide the required facilities.

Overall four years experience was okay!
Placements: Average. Particularly do not remember how many companies came. Max were walk in interviews and pools. Mass recruited by Unimark (6.5k app/month) and pool was done by Line who gave max salary (25k app/month). Max companies were non-core. Like I got into Infosys.
Infrastructure: Average again. Wi-Fi was there. Classrooms were airy. Library books were available. Labs condition okay. Canteen food was pathetic. Medical facilities were available. There was a government hospital nearby. Sports n games like cricket n football equipments were available.
Faculty: Teachers are really helpful, qualified and knowledgeable. Teaching quality was good as well. Student-faculty ratio was 50:1. Yes we got industry exposure. Course curriculum was helpful as well. If you face any issues, you can ask the teacher personally for clarifications. They are frank and very kind as well.
Other: We had freshers but it stopped soon after. No events take place. Activities like annual cricket and football tournaments take place.

Not so satisfying Experience of B.Tech.
Placements: Placements has been an issue. There are placements mainly in tech support and KPO. There are a very few core industries that come for hiring, but the pay scale offered are too low. As per placements go the college places more than 70% students randomly in any sector. But if you want a job with decent payscale or in your own field then you might be disappointed.
Infrastructure: There are many labs core sector, but the college should set up a biotech lab and ceramic lab. They should also hire new and additional teaching faculty. There are certain additional subjects in the course that are not taught due to lack of infrastructure nad teaching member. Machine design lab newly established has been of some help.
Faculty: A lot of old valuable faculty members have retired and the ones leftdo their best to teach. College should hire more teachers, experienced scholers would be nice. The additional subjects like technology and nanotechnology must be taught. Also college should stress on teaching application software like autocad, matlab etc.
Other: College should organise more fests. But the college conducts 2-3 seminars annually. But it should stress on sports activities as the playground is in poor condition.
