Frequently Asked Questions

Q:   Are admissions at Federal Institute of Science and Technology entrance-based or merit-based?

A:

Yes, entrance-based admissions are the main criteria for B.Tech programs, as passing JEE Main or comparable national/state exams is required. Merit and admissions chances are determined by rank on these tests.
Prior to being admitted, students must take and pass national engineering admission exams such as JEE Main. The institute determines the qualifying cut-off scores. Therefore, passing the eligibility test for admission is crucial.
After that, admissions are determined by the entrance exam results' All India ranking. Only the students' JEE Main merit rankings are used to fill seats.

In addition to admission ranking, the 12th standard percentage may also be taken into consideration for seats under reserved quota or at the institute level. However, the determining factor for the majority of seats is entrance exam merit.

A very good placement cell that brings in many job opportunities.
Placements: The placements are quite good with a highest package of 2.68 crore and an average salary of 18 lakhs per annum. Around 80% of the people get placed with a lot of companies visiting the college. I plan to do a job for the first 2 years and afterwards I want to pursue PhD course from a renowned college in the world.
Infrastructure: The intra college arts fest Arangu takes place every year and the Inter college arts fest Bharatham takes place once in every 2 or 3 years. They usually take place in the month of May or June. Tech fests happen once in 2 or 3 years. Library has a good range of books and journals. There are facilities for sports items like cricket, football, badminton, table tennis, chess, volleyball, basketball etc. Clubs like ACM and IEEE are very active.
Faculty: There's a very well qualified and dedicated faculties available in the University they are one of the best in my knowledge. The way of teaching is so understanding and calm that all the students get it one the 1st attempt and those who don't get can ask as many doubts as the want to. They provide there contact so that after classes also we can catch them and get our doubts cleared both related to course or out of course.

Freedom to do anything, including extracurricular activities.
Placements: Eligible students can apply for placements from the 6th semester, and many companies come to recruit students, such as Infosys and TCS. The highest package of this year is 7 lakh, and 70% of students get placed. My plan after graduation is to make my best effort to secure a good job.
Infrastructure: I chose this college because of the campus life. We occasionally conduct a tech-related fest every 3 months, with the main fest happening in February or November. The library has all the necessary books for the course, along with some leisure reading materials. The technical provisions include benches, desks, and projectors in the classrooms. Sports facilities are very good, and we have a sports day. The group advisors encourage sports and extracurricular activities, as my college has some notable alumni. There are societies like IEEE and ASME, and there is a student portal for fee payments and checking marks.
Faculty: The teachers at our college have a friendly attitude, which is very helpful for students to achieve good marks and accomplishments. They also conduct seminars to encourage students' aspirations for higher studies. Students maintain a good relationship and help each other.

Gone with the wind is perfect titles for my journey.
Placements: Our college has many placement opportunities, and I went through many companies but had no chance of attaining one, while my friend got placed. In my class, above 75% of my friends got placed. I had a lower percentage in 12th grade, so I was not eligible for placement in most of the companies. HCL, Aloha Tech, and Infosys are top hiring companies, with work locations at Kochi IT Park. We had an internship in iOS app development, which was conducted for 4 days. We developed an app and submitted it to the instructor. We had two projects: one main project based on detecting phishing websites and a mini project on web page traffic management.
Infrastructure: Our college has extensive infrastructure for different departments, including an IT lab for our department. Our campus is quite large and spacious, with a large library where everyone can access books of their interest. The college is located in a village, so access to the city is difficult. In the hostel rooms, there are usually 3 people with separate bathrooms and toilets for all. The mess is on the ground floor of the hostel, with a charge of ₹135 per day. During Onam and Christmas, special dishes are prepared, but there have been past issues with food poisoning. Hostel rent is ₹1,750 per month, and there is a ₹5,000 deposit. The pricing of canteen food has increased; in the first year, a half biryani cost ₹40, which has risen to ₹60 in the final year.
Faculty: We have mental pressure from the faculty regarding studies. Their approach to students is good and helpful; they assist in clarifying concepts at any time. Their qualifications include Ph.D., M.Tech, and M.Sc. The curriculum is good and helps us understand concepts and apply them practically with a more hands-on approach. The semester duration is always short, which is a drawback. There are 4 internal exams and 2 semester exams in the academic year, and the difficulty level is high.
Other: I enjoyed a lot on campus. Honestly, I didn't want to pursue BCA and MCA, but some people pressured me into it. They told me it has a bright future and good job prospects.

I am happy with my decision of taking admission.
Placements: College give proper training and classes for placement each year more than 20 companies Come and recruiter student at large number. Companies that come placement includes UST, ICS, federal bank, Ruby7, 6D on average 60% student placed our placement is less because of recession and less hiring. Still I proud to say college help as many as possible to placed in good company and position.
Infrastructure: College campus is ambient and full of greenery. The college is located a bit inward, so transport facilities are limited. College labs are good but not the best according to current standards. Library attendance is digital. The boys' hostel is good in cleanliness but very strict, with no electricity and water shortage; it sometimes feels like a jail. The college sports department provides coaching and sports kits, and we have grounds for playing sports.
Faculty: One valuable tip about the faculty is that the college is private, so being 1 minute late can cause an attendance problem. Faculty members are experienced tutors, with the majority of them being Ph.D. holders. Faculty members also help with how to tackle interviews. The course semester pattern is 1 year - 2 semesters, which makes students industry-ready because most of the syllabus is related to the industry. There are 2 internal exams and one University exam; the difficulty level is high to moderate, with 7.5 out of 10 being the level of difficulty.
Other: As its private, t is very strict and attendance is compulsory.

Our college has good infrastructure and facilities.
Placements: Almost 95% of MCA students in our senior batch got placed in reputed companies like IBM, TCS, Cognizant, Federal Bank, etc. The highest salary package offered is 13 LPA and the lowest salary package offered is 3.5 LPA. Roles offered include developer, tester, data analyst, engineer, etc.
Infrastructure: Wi-Fi facilities are available in the hostel. Drinking water is available on every floor. Ambulance facility is also available. Food served in the mess includes chicken, fish, and beef. It is not too good compared to the food served in the canteen. There is a well-maintained ground for sports like cricket and football.
Faculty: Teachers in our department are very helpful with our studies. The course curriculum makes students industry-ready. Semester exams are not tough. The pass percentage is 40%. Subjects are an advanced level of our degree subjects.
Other: I chose this college because of placements.
