The college is incredible.
Placements: The college has an incredible placement record, and they are maintaining it well. All of the students in my batch were placed, and some of them were even sponsored. The companies that hire HIMT cadets include MAERSK LINE, BSM, MSC, GOODWOOD, and MARSHALL.
Infrastructure: The college is located in kalpakkam Tamilnadu, and the campus is very clean and neat. The infrastructure is quite good, and they have electrical, electronics, automation, and virtual reality labs. There is also a ship in the campus facility, which provides students with more practical knowledge. The hostel is good, but the climate in Chennai is very hot and humid, which can make it difficult to sleep. Overall, all is good and stable.
Faculty: The faculty are very good and supportive, and they are experienced. They take extra classes for placements, even using their own time. The semester exams are a bit tight, and the evaluation is strict, so you need to study well to get good marks.

Best college in South India (Hindustan institute of maritime training, HIMT).
Placements: In our batch, 35 students were enrolled, and 26 of them were placed during their studies. The two-year fee for the ETO program was around 3 lakh rupees, and it may have increased since then. However, the college does offer scholarships for students. The college also has good placement opportunities, with top companies like MEARSK, MSC, Synergy, D-Manico, Marshall, Scorpion, Thomee, Evergreen, and Anglo-Eastern coming to recruit students. Of the students who were placed, 26% got internships with MSC, Marshall, and Maersk, while 68% were placed in permanent positions. Additionally, the college offers scholarships to toppers in higher studies and degrees.
Infrastructure: This college has the best infrastructure. The classrooms are air-conditioned, and the labs provide training that is the same as what you would find on a ship. The campus even has a ship that students can use to practice their skills. The Wi-Fi is only available in the computer labs and classroom monitors, and the network can be slow at times. The library is well air-conditioned and has a wide selection of books, including study materials and books about life. The hostel is good but not air-conditioned.
Faculty: The faculty are dedicated to helping their students succeed. They make sure the students are prepared to work in difficult situations on board ships. The semester exams are easy, and the students are able to excel because of the excellent teaching they receive.
Other: I'm an electrical engineer who joined the ETO course at HIMT. The course is only four months long, but I wish it were six months or a year. HIMT celebrates all the festivals, but they concentrate on Hindu festivals. They provide scholarships to students who excel in higher studies.

I will never recommend this college to anybody.
Placements: Placements are good. Frequently visited by companies. Good companies come to take students. Approximately 100 percent placement. Frequent VIP visits are there at the college. Good companies. Famous companies. Big and famous companies. Good placement.
Infrastructure: The infrastructure is good. Good facilities in classrooms. Smart boards are provided for teaching. Nice infrastructure. Good infrastructure. Nice facilities. Nice cabins are allotted to the students. Cabins are good and comfortable. Attached washrooms and bathrooms to the cabins.
Faculty: Good faculty. Good teachers. Teachers give all their efforts to teach students. Anytime, ready to clear doubts. Anytime, ready to answer any questions from students. Hardworking faculty and teachers. Bad wardens. Rating is less just because of wardens; otherwise, faculty is good.
Other: The worst campus life you can ever live. I would never recommend this college to anyone.

One of the best college to do ETO course.
Placements: The college provides extensive recruitment drives from top companies like Maersk, BSM, and MSC. Around 80% of the cadets have already been placed, including myself. The average package offered by the companies is around 500-600 dollars per month. The college also provides guidance on how to crack the exam and interviews.
Infrastructure: The college have a dedicated ship on campus and a workshop where all sorts of equipment are available for training. The classrooms are air conditioned, and there is a swimming pool and a library with all the latest and generally required books. They also have a VR lab for ship familiarization.
Faculty: The faculty are extremely good and have extensive knowledge on the topics they teach. Most of the faculty are seafarers, which means that we can interact with them freely and they can provide us with insights into the general routines and technical know-how required on board a ship.
Other: I joined this college because it was recommended by a family friend who is an alumni. He insisted that this college is one of the best in South India and provides excellent placement opportunities for students in the respective course.

The fortune of seafarers.
Placements: HIMT has a placement rate of almost 90% for the ETO course. The companies that come to recruit cadets are reputable and offer high-paying packages of over $600 at the training level. Companies that have recruited cadets include Maersk, BSM, OSM, MSC, Synergy, TOM Shipping, and VR Maritime. All cadets are selected as trainee ETOs and later promoted to ETO.
Infrastructure: Our campus is well established to provide facilities for all our educational, cultural, and refreshment activities. Educational facilities include ship in campus, virtual reality labs, computer labs, electrical labs, electronics labs, high-voltage labs, retrofitting labs, mechanical labs, etc. For cultural programs, we have auditoriums and other open stages. The college also provides areas for various sports activities.
Faculty: The faculty here are very knowledgeable, having more than 15 years of sailing experience. Their experience in the shipping industry is a great motivation and strength for upcoming seafarers. Their motivational stories and experience sharing during the course help cadets withstand any situation at sea.
Other: This course is the shortest duration course that allows electrical engineers to join the merchant navy. It is a great opportunity for electrical engineers to excel in their careers.

Gratitude about HIMT.....
Placements: 66% of people are placed from our batch. The lowest package is $100, and the highest is $600. There are a total of three companies for placement. Out of 35 students, 8 were selected in BSM, 13 in MAERSK, and 2 in MSC shipping companies. The top role offered will be Trainee ETO.
Infrastructure: Infrastructure is good in terms of less space being utilized effectively and efficiently. Hostel facilities are good, and our rooms are provided with proper ventilation, study tables, attached bathrooms and toilets, and cupboards for each student with a locker.
Faculty: Faculty members are well-experienced in their relevant professions and are very friendly with students. They are never irritated if you ask questions repeatedly. The course curriculum is very well organized, and labs are very effective for learning practicals.
