Satisfied because of faculty, good placements in 2016, really good infrastructure, etc.

Placements: Placements of our current passing out batch are quite good. Around 80% students got placement offers from different companies all over the world. The average salary in our campus is near about 4-5 lacs with the highest being 16 lacs. Companies like Microsoft, Google, Coal India, L&T, Texas Instruments, Vedanta, etc. Every single student gets an internship at the end of the third year of the course.

Value for money if you are confident enough not to depend on placements.

Placements: For our batch, placement was not at all satisfactory. Only 8 out of 30 students got placed. The highest package offered was 4.2 LPA. Notable companies: Hindustan motors (Marketing, company got shut down later on), Future group (HR & Marketing), PHI Learning (Sales) etc. Institute will take full responsibility of the internship placements. However, our senior & super senior batches used to get placed in government organisations. We faced this placement issue due to the unfortunate death of our pl...

IIEST is the place to be if you want to grow in all aspects and develop an attitude for life.

Placements: On the better side of the curve with many placed in core companies especially in mechanical, civil and mining along with the conventional branches like CS and IT. The average across all the branches goes beyond 6 LPA. Major recruiters includes Microsoft, Texas Instruments, L and T, Vedanta, PwC, ZS Associates, MN Dastur and Coal India.

A great MBA institute to gather knowledge but not so great for placements.

Placements: During our tenure, the placement was very bad but we somehow managed to get some job because of the quality of education IIEST provides. The maximum salary was, as far as I remember, near about 2.4 LPA. A few of us all got a good amount of stipend for doing an internship at SBI. There are other companies at which many of our fellow classmates did internships like Tata Tinplate, IOCL etc.

Decent standards well at par with the average and better than the most.

Placements: The final placements in our institute are almost on par with the NITs. They are pretty above average and better than most of the private engineering colleges. With the likes of Amazon, Directi, Texas Instruments, PwC, Deloitte, ZS, MuSigma, Microsoft and many others visiting our campus, you have a pretty good chance of getting associated with big names right at the beginning of your career. But, the opportunities are limited and you have to make the most out of it. On an average, around 65-70% ...

Absolutely dissatisfied because of placement, however faculty and infrastructure were good.

Placements: On an average, the placement was not up to the reputation of the college as mostly IT companies came rather than the core companies. The average salary offered was around 3.5 LPA, the maximum is 6 LPA and the lowest was 2.75 LPA. Most of the IT companies like Infosys, IBM, Wipro, CTS, Accenture and some companies from analytics domain like Mu-sigma, EXL Services, PWC, and HDFC visited the campus. In the IT sector, we were offered the role of Associate Software Engineer. Around 8-10 students got t...

One of the best things about our campus is its location. Just 20 minutes from the heart of Kolkata, on the bank of the Ganges, it is one of the best places to spend four precious years of your life. The facilities in the campus are pretty good. Though with the sharp increase in batch strength, it will be a bit difficult to give proper accommodation to all. There are not enough hostels for 700+ students. Another good thing is that the mess food in the final and pre-final year hostels are very goo...

A good studying environment, the professors are very co-operative. College provide good placement services. Many researches are being carried out. Students are encouraged to invest both in extra-curricular as well as academic activities. Hostels are good enough, Better Infrastructure. College hosts one of the biggest fests in eastern India. There is a very friendly atmosphere between the juniors & seniors.

Satisfied with the quality of professors, infrastructure and campus life

Placements: Before becoming IIEST Shibpur, it was good for placements in both B.Tech and M.Tech. But after becoming IIEST in 2014, the placement scenario was the worst in condition. Very few core companies are coming now. But still, software job options are there for B.Tech. But M.Tech placement condition is very bad. Only 20 to 30% got a job from campus placements while others are preparing for gate and IES. Nowadays, they are going for bank exams as well.

This college also has dual degree program which most of the prestigious colleges does not offer. The college facilitates a student in science along with engineering.

This Institute is one of a kind in its country. Under the Congress government many IIESTs were supposed to be initiated. Many of them were simply converted to IITs instead. As there is a very well known IIT just in the vicinity (namely. IIT Kharagpur) so it was upgraded to an IIEST instead. The faculty here is highly qualified. But sometimes the teaching is not up to par and they lapse into Bengali. Anti ragging rules are strictly followed (sometimes it is the seniors who are scared of the junio...

My college has a rich heritage and a well-established global alumni base. The college has a very well maintained campus. The college really has a lot to offer to its students in terms of inspirations from its alumni and guidance from the professors. The college has risen from the shackles of political agendas and intra-college disputes to create a calm environment. It is definitely in an upward spiral and would take some time to establish its former levels of placements. Judging the current ma...
