IIMC Entrance Exam Pattern 2025: The exam body, the Indian Institute of Mass Communication (IIMC) prescribes the exam pattern under the supervision of the National Testing Agency (NTA) for every program. This is done since admissions for most PG courses at IIMC are done through CUET. It is essential that the aspirants go through the exam pattern of IIMC 2025. It includes information related to the exam sections, marking scheme, time duration, etc. The duration of the written test of the IIMC Entrance Exam 2025 (in all the courses offered by the college) is two hours. IIMC exam is held at an All-India level. Along with the pattern, candidates must also check the IIMC Syllabus 2024 to know the subjects, topics, and sub-topics on which the questions will be based. IIMC Entrance Exam Pattern 2025

According to the IIMC Entrance Exam pattern, there will be two separate Entrance Exams in two separate sittings on the same day. One for 4 courses other than regional language journalism, i.e., for PG Diploma in Hindi Journalism, PG Diploma in English Journalism, PG Diploma in Public Relations & Advertising, and PG Diploma in Radio & Television. The other test will be for Regional Language Journalism courses (Odia, Marathi, Malayalam and Urdu). Each Test will be Two Hours (120 minutes) long. Examinees will have to take 100 Multiple Choice Questions (MCQ) on General Knowledge & General Aptitude including a few general questions from the field of Media & Communication carrying 100 marks. The pattern is further elaborated in the table below.

The no. of questions will be 100 and divided into two parts
Part A: Consisting of Language Comprehension/Verbal Ability, General Awareness, Mathematical/Quantitative Ability and Analytical Skills comprising of 25 MCQs.
Part B: Domain Knowledge comprising of 75 MCQs.

Regional Language PG Diploma Journalism courses (Odia, Marathi, Malayalam and Urdu)

The question paper will be descriptive and objective. There will be Long, Short and Multiple-Choice question (MCQ) type questions.

Note: There will not be any interview or group discussion. Candidates will be selected purely based on written test.

Aspirants who are shortlisted based on their performance in the IIMC Entrance Test 2025 need to appear for a group discussion and/ or interview rounds. The weightage for the group discussion round is 10 marks and the interview round is 15 marks. Candidates are shortlisted for admission based on their performance in the written test as well as the interview/ group discussion round.

It is becoming increasingly important that the aspirants prepare for this entrance exam well before time. IIMC Entrance Exam preparation is just like preparing for any other entrance exam. Regardless, it takes a lot of hard work. Some simple but effective preparation tips are listed below. 

  • Prepare a preparation plan considering the time left for the exam. 
  • Collect all the study material you might need. Since a big part of the test is general awareness and media knowledge, stick to one or two topic-specific guidebooks. Check out some sample papers and older IIMC Entrance Exam question papers. Keep up with the current affairs by reading a newspaper regularly. You can also download some news application on your smartphone. 
  • Dedicate specific days to specific topics while regularly going through current affairs.
  • Make short notes that you can go through at the end of the day or whenever you have the time. Remember that revision is the key to retaining everything that you have learned. 
  • Solve as many sample papers and question papers as you can. It's good practice and it familiarises you with the types of question that may appear in the entrance exam. You can also time yourself while taking these tests to work on your speed.  
  • Take breaks. If you dedicate long hours to preparation, you might get burnt out faster than you'd like. Listen to music, go for a walk, chat up friends and family or whatever helps you unwind. But do not get too carried away. Keep your breaks your short and then get back to studying.
