    On Placements

Q:   What is the effectiveness of the placement cell for B.E. / B.Tech programs at IIT Dharwad?

    A:
    {Source: B.E. / B.Tech students & alumni}

Based on the provided information, the effectiveness of the placement cell for B.E./B.Tech programs at IIT Dharwad can be analyzed as follows:

    * According to the students' feedback, the placement cell has been successful in placing most students. Almost 80% of the students got placed during the on-campus placement season with an average salary package of 8 LPA.
    * The college's career development cell (CDC) plays a crucial role in assisting students in securing internships and placements. The CDC actively brings in various companies for campus recruitment and provides assistance with internships.
    * Although the placement percentage may vary depending on the programme and stream, the overall placement record appears to be strong. Students have reported getting placed in reputed companies like Nasdaq, and the college expects the average salary package to increase over the years as it grows in terms of age and student intake.
    * However, some students have mentioned that the placement process is not 100% efficient, with approximately 20% of students not getting placed through the on-campus process. This might be due to factors such as limited presence of high-paying or career-oriented companies or individual student choices.

Overall, while the placement cell at IIT Dharwad shows promise, there is always scope for improvement. The college should focus on increasing diversity in the companies attending campus placements and providing more support to students who are struggling to find suitable employment opportunities.

I think, as a 3rd Gen IIT student, the placements are improving from year to year.
Placements: In my course, CSE, 60 students are there in total for 1st-year students, with two sections, S1 and S2, 160 students in each section. As a first-year student, I did not know much about placements, but as a 3rd-generation IIT student, it is the best of all. The average package is 21 LPA for CSE.
Infrastructure: Nice buildings, nice hostel, nice mess, nice roads, nice gym, nice indoor stadium, nice people, nice staff, good atmosphere, environment, nice college, nice people, nice atmosphere for the library, and a very good library, nice chairs in the library, very high-class library.
Faculty: Good faculty, nice qualified teachers, and Ph.D. teachers from prospective IITs. The courses for the first year are very relevant, and the exams are quite difficult, but you can do with minimum preparation day by day. Exams are quizzes, midsem, and endsem exams.
Other: As a first-year student, the fresher's party is the only event conducted till now, but there are other courses and activities as told by seniors.

Good infrastructure but come mentally prepared.
Placements: There are 12 students from the chemical engineering branch. The highest package is 54 lakhs in the CS branch. Very few students get internships in any branch. As ours is the third batch, since this is a new IIT, we still don't know about chemical engineering placements.
Infrastructure: The infrastructure is very good, but hostel food is not. The classrooms and library are really nice. But, there are frequent power cuts. The Wi-Fi offers fast internet. There is a wellness center if you are sick, a sports complex to play games and a gym. Canteen food is affordable and tasty.
Faculty: Semester exams are difficult. Students have to prepare from the start of the semester itself. Yes, the chemical engineering branch is really helpful in the core side. Almost all the professors are highly qualified, but a few don't have proper ability to teach.
Other: There will be 2 or 3 DJ nights in each semester and many teach meetups. There will be an inter-IIT sports once a year.

Not satisfied with the current state but image build-up will take time.
Placements: About 20 percent of the batch is getting placed. As this is a new IIT, it will take time to make an impactful image among recruiters like old IITs. Top recruiting companies are CRED and HCL. In terms of opportunities, you cannot expect much as the reason is the same; it is a new IIT.
Infrastructure: In the Perma campus, all necessary requirements are fulfilled. There are 4 people sharing rooms with other facilities. For sports, only badminton and squash are available, while for other outdoor sports, we have to go to the temporary campus. Wi-Fi facility is okay, not perfect.
Faculty: This part is the same as other IITs. The level is average for the exam. Professors are helpful, and the course curriculum is also relevant. Plagiarism checks are there in every course, and they directly result in failures. Professors are knowledgeable and also have good behaviour.

Our college has good faculty members who happily clear students' doubts.
Placements: This year placements are going on because our branch started three years ago. We hope that this year will get better placements. There is a career development cell (CDC) that helps to join internships. There are advanced research facilities that help more to qualify.
Infrastructure: They provide labs, equipment, materials, and everything. I'm still in my first year in this college, so I don't know about the engineering lab. Our seniors say that they are better than mechanical. Everything is good. Our college provides all facilities like a medical lab, hostel, canteen, and mess. The ground for cricket and football is under construction and will be available in the next year. There is a wellness center here for medical issues. We have a common indoor facility for indoor sports. There is a gym.
Faculty: Teachers are ready to clarify our doubts. They are qualified and knowledgeable. Semester exams are medium to difficult. The pass percentage is 30%.

IITs with best buildings, the latest IITs.
Placements: Mine is B. Tech Chemical and Biochemical Engineering. It is a 4-year course containing Mathematics, Chemistry, Physics, and Biology. There are around 50 members in our batch. Many seniors got internship offers, and they were placed in different industries, and a few started their own labs.
Infrastructure: The buildings and infrastructure are quite amazing. As ours is a new generation IIT, everything was built recently, and everything is amazing. It feels good to experience things here, though there may be a little discomfort with Wi-Fi, but it’s okay. Everything provided is of fine quality.
Faculty: The curriculum is super good. Exams are not so tough, but they are okay. Paper standards are set by the professors who teach us, and attempting those papers will be thrilling and exciting. Yes, of course, our course curriculum is relevant to our daily lives and makes us ready for the industry.
Other: Of course, IITs are super cool, and fests don’t happen often, but they are amazing. Sports and cultural competitions will also be held.

Absolutely dissatisfied with the college .
Placements: 80% The lowest is around 4-5 LPA, and the highest is around 9-10 LPA only. Mercedes-Benz, TATA, IBM 5% in tech companies, core companies don't usually give internships here; only tech companies come here in our college. Project engineer, Research and development.
Infrastructure: Facility and infrastructure at IIT Dharwad is average. Wi-Fi is not good here; labs and classrooms are nice, with an average library. Facilities at the hostel are good. The quality of food at the mess is the worst, but in the canteen, it is nice. Medical facilities are not too good, and sports and games here are not good at all; there are no proper grounds here.
Faculty: Teachers are very helpful, qualified, and knowledgeable. The teaching quality is nice. The course curriculum is absolutely relevant. It makes us ready theory-wise, not industry-wise, properly. Semester exams are not too difficult; some questions are challenging. The passing percentage absolutely is 30-35 percent, but relatively, grading is at 15-20%.
Other: For the IIT tag, labs, and mechanical instruments experience, placements, and internship opportunities, more project-based learning. Some of the events like GC, Parsec (tech fest), AARAMBH (Bgmi), IDPL (cricket). Scholarships are given to students based on the given criterion every semester. Many clubs are here at IIT Dharwad (dance, music, all sports clubs, finance club, etc.).

    Q:   Is B.E. / B.Tech at IIT Dharwad a good choice?

    A:
    {Source: B.E. / B.Tech students & alumni}

Based on the context provided, here's my answer:

Is BE/BTech at IIT Dharwad a good choice?

Overall, I would say that studying BE/BTech at IIT Dharwad can be a good choice depending on your expectations and preferences. Here are some positives:

    * Great professors from reputed institutions (under mentorship of IIT Bombay)
    * Good infrastructure and facilities, including state-of-the-art classrooms, library, and hostels
    * Opportunities for extracurricular activities and events like hackathons, cultural fests, and placement drives
    * Relevant and industry-ready course curriculum
    * Good percentage of placement success (approximately 70-75%)

However, there are some areas where improvement could be made:

    * Difficulty level of semester exams may vary greatly depending on the instructor
    * Limited elective options might restrict student exploration in different domains
    * No software development course currently offered
    * Placement performance was inconsistent in recent years (not sure about current situation)

Considering these points, I would recommend researching further into the institution and speaking with existing students or alumni to gain a better understanding of the pros and cons. Additionally, assess your own goals, interests, and priorities to determine whether IIT Dharwad aligns with them.

Keep in mind that this assessment is based on general feedback and may change over time. It's essential to stay updated with the latest developments and trends when making such important decisions.
