    A:

Effectiveness of Placement Cell for M.Sc. Courses at IIT Madras

Based on student reviews and feedback, here's an overview of the effectiveness of the placement cell for M.Sc. courses at IIT Madras:

    * Limited Placements: According to several students, only a small number of students (around 2-3) out of 43 have been able to secure placements, with mostly ed-tech companies visiting the campus.
    * Average Salary Package: The average salary package offered is around INR8-10 LPA, with some companies offering higher packages up to INR12 LPA.
    * Top Recruiting Companies: While some big names like Byju's and Vedantu have visited the campus, other popular recruiters include pharmaceutical companies and research institutions.
    * Internship Opportunities: However, students have reported getting internship opportunities in research institutions like TIFR, ICTS, IIST, and IISc, which suggests that the university is focused on promoting research-oriented education.

In summary, while the placement cell at IIT Madras seems to be working towards securing placements for its M.Sc. students, the numbers are limited, and salaries may vary. Additionally, students who pursue research-based internships seem to have more opportunities.

Really good infrastructure here and facilities help a lot.
Placements: In our course, most students are inclined to do PhDs and research-related work, so many students don't sit for placements. But if you want to get a placement, there are opportunities available, but for that, you have to take appropriate elective subjects and study and compete with B.Tech/M.Tech students. I don't know much about that field, but if you want to take a placement in the teaching sector, then Allen, etc. came here. The highest package goes around 15 lakhs; the average is 7 lakhs, I think. Everyone can get placed here, but packages are too low, so I advise you not to have high hopes. You will get a placement, but not with a very good package. But for research, IITM is one of the best.
Infrastructure: The mathematics department is situated in one of the best buildings in IIT Madras. 500+ mbps Wi-Fi speed is available in the library, reading hall, hospital, department, etc. There is free healthcare available in the IITM hospital for students 24/7 with highly qualified doctors. 1 You don't have to worry regarding infrastructure and sports faculty members. There are lots of sports; everyone gets a chance here.
Faculty: Teachers are very helpful in the mathematics department and very knowledgeable. This course helps you a lot for research purposes or higher studies, but if you are here for placement, don't worry, you can choose to switch to electrical engineering in the second year. Exam difficulty depends on the professor.

College hostel has vibes like home.
Placements: Okay, honestly, our department isn't interested in placements as much as it is in doing research. But as I was the head volunteer for the 2020 placement session, I observed that almost all Engineering students got jobs. The placement percentage is around 85-90%. Regarding internships, if you have applied abroad to any company through the Training and Placement Office, you will get it with the essential qualifications and skills. The institute also frequently shares emails about internship opportunities, which are mostly research-based.
Infrastructure: The hostel facility is really amazing. Students get to stay in Mandakini Hotel, which is the newest 10-floor building with all facilities and amenities. It has automatic washing machines, amazing washrooms, good rooms, windows, fans, desks, chairs, almirahs, and everything. The food at IIT Madras is good; we have veg, non-veg, and north-south options, and the menu changes every 14 days. We can also switch the mess every month.
Faculty: The faculty-to-student ratio is good, and I believe the faculty is more focused on operations. This course is suitable for people with a teaching or strong engineering background. The faculty’s credentials and approach to teaching and mentorship are amazing. They are very friendly and approachable, and their academic excellence is demonstrated by the number of papers they have written, awards they have won, and their vast industry experience.
Other: The annual cultural fest at IIT Madras has been amazing, especially Dom's, which also has a separate fest of its own. The library is excellent, and the technological provisions within the classrooms are really good. We have smart classes with PowerPoint presentations, big screens, and smart touch displays. Sports and extracurricular activity opportunities are great. We do have less time for them, but still, it is good. Student-run groups, clubs, and portals are exceptionally well managed.

Outstanding faculty, industry relevant curriculum and high academic standards- IIT Madras.
Placements: Placement rates are typically high; most of the students got placements The highest package is around 15-20 LPA, and the lowest is 5-7 LPA. The average package is 8–10 LPA. The top recruiters are from ISRO, DRDO, and BARC. The most secure internships are at research institutions. The top roles are research scientist and data analyst.
Infrastructure: The facilities at IIT Madras are great, with well-equipped labs, modern classrooms and an extensive library. Hostel facilitates are decent and offer satisfactory food. Both south and north Indian food is available. Medical facilities are accessible, and sports amenities encourage participation.
Faculty: Teachers are exceptionally helpful, qualified and knowledgeable, ensuring high teaching quality. The curriculum is highly relevant and industry-oriented, preparing students effectively. Semester exams are challenging yet fair, with a high pass percentage, fostering academic excellence.

All your hardwork for IIT is worth it.
Placements: The placement in M.Sc. Maths isn't very high. The course curriculum is focused on pure Maths. M.Sc. students are in high demand by coaching institutes for IIT JEE. All students who applied for placements are placed in coaching institutes, with the highest package being 12 Lacs per annum.
Infrastructure: IIT Madras is one of the oldest IITs, and hostel life there is amazing! You can roam around the campus at midnight and enjoy food at the canteen. The classrooms are fully AC with 24*7 Wi-Fi in the hostels. The mess food may not be excellent, but they offer a variety, and the menu is decided by the students. All sports grounds are available with coaches.
Faculty: The course curriculum is designed for students aiming for higher studies like a Ph.D. in Mathematics, not primarily for placements. Students interested in placements can prepare for coding on their own, as companies are open to everyone.
Other: College life at IIT is incredible, filled with sleepless nights, fests, and sports meets. It's a rollercoaster of emotions - you might be crying before an exam one day and dancing and having a blast the next. IIT prepares you for life, not just exams.

One of the best IITs for pure mathematics.
Placements: The students of Maths department are more inclined towards higher studies. So a less number of students participated in placement drive. Though a less number of students applied for job. Most of them are placed in edtech companies. The highest package is 12lakh per annum while the lowest package is 6lakh.
Infrastructure: The infrastructure of classes and hostel is excellent. Classrooms are provided with the facilities of smart boards, projectors and ACs installed in the classes. The hostels are provided with Wi-Fi and mess facilities. There is no restriction on timings of hostel for boys but girls hostel has strict timings.
Faculty: The curriculum is designed by the top faculty members of department making the department one of the best department for pure Maths. All the faculty members are high qualified and experts in their subjects. The exams are difficult as straight forward questions from books are not asked in the exams.
Other: Life at IIT is a roller coaster ride. The fests in IIT are held at a grand level.

Yes, students who have completed a BTech degree from one of the IITs with a CGPA of 8.0 and above can apply without a GATE score. However, any student who has graduated from any other institute, college, or university must have a valid GATE score to be considered for M.Tech admissions at IIT Madras.
