Established in 1961, IIM Ahmedabad, or IIMA is a public Business School located in Vastrapur, Ahmedabad. The institute has been accorded the status of an ‘Institute of National Importance' by MHRD, Government of India. Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad was the first B-School to receive the EQUIS (European Quality Improvement System) accreditation, by the European Foundation for Management Development (EFMD). IIM Ahmedabad History:

Before the establishment of IIM Ahmedabad, India was in dire need of an autonomous management institute to educate fresh graduates.
In 1961, IIM Ahmedabad and IIM Calcutta were introduced and put in collaboration with their foreign partners, HBS and MIT.
IIM Ahmedabad and IIM Calcutta began with executive development programmes and a flagship course.
In 1964, a 2-year PG degree in Business Administration came into existence as a flagship program.
In 1962, along with the visit to India, Louis Kahn began his project IIMA and the first thing on campus that came into existence was the faculty house and after that the dormitories/student hostels.
Interestingly, the batch of 1964-65 was the first batch of students. Before shifting to the main campus in 1966, students took classes in the room at ATIRA. The same batch stayed in the apartment of the Gujarat Housing Board.

Q: How much CAT score is required for MBA at IIM Ahmedabad?

IIM Ahmedabad considered two kinds of CAT scores for MBA admission - Qualifying and Final score. Qualifying CAT score is the minimum sectional and overall CAT score used to shortlist students for the Analytical Writing Test (AWT) and Personal Interview (PI) rounds. Candidates above minimum cutoffs in the sectional percentile ranks, the overall percentile rank and having a positive (greater than zero) raw score in all sections of CAT are considered for the next stage. Final CAT score is cutoffs are the basis of which the candidates are called for final selection after the AWT and PI rounds are over. The overall CAT qualifying cutoff for 2022 admission at IIM-A stood at 80 for General category candidates while the final cutoff is considered to stand between 99 and 100 percentile. Q: Is IIM Ahmedabad costly?

The total course fee for PGP offered at IIM Ahmedabad is INR 23 Lacs. IIM A charges INR 18 Lacs as its course fees. This includes academic support, tuition, accommodation, basic healthcare, medical insurance and alumni association membership fee. No, one can't join IIM without CAT. Candidates seeking admission to the IIM Ahmedabad MBA course must appear for CAT and secure 90 percentile. The Institute considers Writing Ability Test (WAT) and Personal Interview (PI) rounds for final admission to IIM Ahmedabad along with CAT results. While all the courses at IIMA are full-time and residential, the PGPX is a one-year programme while PGP is for two years. Infrastructure: The campus life is beautiful yet challenging. While cultural activities and events are frequent and enjoyable, the workload related to assignments, exams, and projects can feel overwhelming. Clubs and committees play a crucial role in managing campus activities and ensuring a vibrant student community.

The IIM is well known for placements at the highest package (54 LPA), the lowest package (2.4 to 5 LPA), and the average (5 to 17 LPA). Placement training and skill development classes are held, and students like me came to know the real world projects, and we worked and gained experience. The internship opportunities for our course are 96%. I love the course curriculum.

Infrastructure: Infrastructure is best class, as it is IIM—the beautiful Classrooms and Campus with greenery Plants and Trees. The Facilities in our Course is top-notch, like Wi-Fi facilities in our Classrooms and library, which have a vast number of Books. The Hostel facilities is available The food in the hostel is good. Mess food is better than the Canteen food. The best-class Clubs for Sports and Games. Medical Facilities are also provided.

Yes, over the years, the IIM-A has formed partnerships with leading Management schools in Europe, North America, Australia, New Zealand, South America, South Africa and the Asia-Pacific region. Every year, out of the second year class, appriximately 150 students are selected to spend one academic term abroad at a partner institute and IIM-A accepts about 90 students from its partners for the same period.

This exchange programme makes it possible for IIM-A students to gain international exposure without any financial impediments. In addition to the scholarships instituted by IIMA, several students have received scholarships from participating schools, the French embassy, DAAD from Germany and some corporate partners.

Q: Why do you need to score more than 99.5 Percentile in CAT to get into an IIMs?

For candidates to get into top IIMs including IIM Ahmedabad, IIM Bangalore and IIM Calcutta, one must have a high CAT score preferably equal to or more than 99.5 Percentile. Considered as the top B-School of India, the competition for top IIMs is very high whereas on the other hand the number of seats for the same are less.
