Frequently Asked Questions

Q:   I got 14513 rank in TS EAMCET (obc). Can I get seat in JNTUH.

A:
Based on the previous year's cutoff, a rank of 14513 in TS EAMCET under the OBC category may not be sufficient to get a seat in the B.Tech programs at JNTUH. However, the cutoff varies every year, and it is difficult to predict the exact cutoff for the current academic year. The cutoff for admission to the B.Tech programs at JNTUH through TS EAMCET varies every year and depends on various factors such as the number of applicants, the difficulty level of the exam, the availability of seats, and the category of the candidate. It is difficult to predict the exact cutoff for the current academic year. However, based on the previous year's cutoff, the minimum TS EAMCET rank required for admission to the B.Tech programs at JNTUH was around 20,000 to 25,000 for the general category, and for the OBC category, the cutoff was around 30,000 to 35,000. Please note that the cutoff varies every year, and it is advisable to check the official website of JNTUH or the TS EAMCET counselling website for the latest cutoff ranks. Also, meeting the cutoff rank does not guarantee admission to the programme as the final seat allotment depends on the availability of seats, the candidate's preference, and other factors.

Review of JNTUH College of Engineering Hyderabad, Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University.
Placements: Last year, the CSE department got the highest package compared to other colleges in Hyderabad; JNTU has the best packages. In the JNTU, most of the students are placed on the IT companies or software side. The base package of a JNTU student is 5 LPA.
Infrastructure: Hostels are good at JNTU; they provide good food at a low cost. Compare other college hostels JNTU College Hostel is good for the quality food. The PHC is the primary health center on campus. There is a sports complex in the JNTU. There is also a gym.
Faculty: Faculty is good at JNTU. All the teachers are PHD qualified; they had great subject knowledge. In the JNTU yearly, two semesters for four-year B.Tech each year. All the students are getting average CGPAs of 7 to 8.5. The pass percentage is thirty-five (35%) of marks for every semester. A minimum of 50 credits are given to promote next year.
Other: I chose this course because of my interest in electrical and electronics.

What is inside JNTUH?
Placements: Coming to placements, it is good, but compared to other branches, my department has fewer campus placements. We have to maintain an average CGPA of 8.5 for selection in campus placements. You need to learn skills and computer languages to increase your chances of getting placed.
Infrastructure: Regarding the hostel, I was allotted a new one, which is good in terms of food and infrastructure, providing Wi-Fi, a study hall, and a library inside it. My previous hostel was very bad and did not provide any facilities like Wi-Fi, and the food was not good, with no study halls available.
Faculty: The faculty is very experienced and talented, with a high level of knowledge. The curriculum is good, but it does not help much in preparing for merit exams like GATE; it only supports semester exams. I think it would be better to change the curriculum.
Other: I didn't choose this course; it was assigned to me according to my rank.

The events in the college are actually good.
Placements: The top roles offered from our electrical and electronics branch are from the core side. The least was about 4 LPA and the highest was around 15 LPA. More than 50 percent got placed. The GPA of all the students is low, so it is difficult for the companies which come.
Infrastructure: Classrooms: Spacious, well-lit, and ventilated classrooms with modern teaching aids like LCD projectors, sound systems, and blackboards. Laboratories: Well-furnished laboratories with advanced instruments and apparatus. Library: A library with e-resources. Auditorium: A venue for conferences, workshops, seminars, and other events. Administration block: A well-designed block with offices for the principal, vice principal, HODs, faculty, and other staff.
Faculty: When you get targeted by the faculty, it is difficult to pass that particular exam. The semester exams are conducted strictly. The syllabus does not get completed for the examinations. We should make sure to prepare by ourselves. The pass percentage is less as the evaluators always think to fail us.
Other: Nothing much to say about the course. Except the classes everything else is good.

A excellent college for engineering.
Placements: We have a lot of placement options to choose from. Above 80% of students are placed in this course. The highest package was 63 LPA, the lowest package was 2.5 LPA and the average package was 6 LPA. Top recruiting companies are L&T, Havells, V Guard, and Finolex. 50% of students got internships.
Infrastructure: Infrastructures were well developed. Sufficient lab facilities are provided with good working tools and machinery. Nearby transportation is easily available ( metro and buses are available. ). The food was good quality. Sports and games are conducted. Sometimes events also happen.
Faculty: Teachers are helpful, qualified and knowledgeable. The teaching quality was excellent. Course curriculum is relevant and it makes students industry-ready. Semester exams will fully depend on the student's study and performance. The pass percentage is 95%.

Dissatisfied with the course curriculum.
Placements: Nearly 55% students were placed in EEE in 2023-24. The highest package was about 13 Lacs CTC and the lowest was about 3.5 Lacs. Some of the top recruiting companies for EEE graduates from JNTUH are Deloitte, TCS, Wipro, S&P Global, Amazon, and other notable companies include Infosys.
Infrastructure: Our department has subpar labs. No Wi-Fi is available for students. The department has pretty average classrooms with no projectors in many of them. Seminars and workshops are conducted once in a while. The course has little scope for flexibility, and the curriculum requires an urgent update towards recent developments in the fields relevant to the course.
Faculty: The teachers are quite knowledgeable, but their nature of old-fashioned values is a real bummer. The teaching varies between "okay, got the point" to "what's all this?". The course curriculum is not particularly relevant to modern industries and new technologies. Semester exams tend to be on the moderate side of things, and the pass percentage is about 60-70%.

Q:   Question: How is the course curriculum for M.E./M.Tech at JNTUH College of Engineering?

A:
{Source: M.E./M.Tech students & alumni}

Course Curriculum

* The course curriculum is a bit troublesome, with less time for practical technical skill building, making students less prepared for the industry. (Source: Review 14)
* However, the revised curriculum for junior batches is well-designed, providing ample time to build industry-relevant skills. (Source: Review 32)
* The course curriculum is relevant, making students industry-ready. (Source: Reviews 21, 36, 49)
* Some subjects in the course need to be updated to make students more practical than theoretical. (Source: Review 54)
* The faculty suggests that students rely on external resources, such as YouTube, to supplement their learning. (Source: Review 46)

Practical Knowledge

* The course focuses on theoretical knowledge, leaving students without practical exposure. (Source: Review 2
* The lack of application knowledge and site visits makes students feel unprepared for the industry. (Source: Review 3

Industry Relevance

* The course curriculum is designed to meet industry standards, providing students with relevant skills. (Source: Review 42)
* Students are encouraged to participate in industrial projects and training programs to gain hands-on experience. (Not mentioned in reviews)

Improvements Needed

* The course curriculum should be modified to include more practical knowledge and site visits. (Sources: Reviews 11, 23, 51)
* Elective subjects should be introduced to allow students to explore topics of interest. (Source: Review 55)

Overall, while the course curriculum has its limitations, it seems to be generally relevant and prepares students for the industry. However, improvements can be made to increase the focus on practical knowledge and industry relevance.
