It is a state government college affiliated to the University of Calcutta.
Placements: Students here got placed in highly-reputed companies with highly reputed destinations. Most of them work as different types of statisticians, data analysts, data scientists, and statistical analysts. Even many of the students are working in the Indian Statistical Service.
Infrastructure: It is a government college, and the fee charges are too low, which is an advantage for BPL students, but the college has not compromised in any of its infrastructures be it a hostel, canteen food, sports, or anything else. But the drawback is that there is no hostel for non-Islamic boys.
Faculty: Our professors are too frank with us which is a blessing. Students don't hesitate in sharing anything about their thoughts or even any personal matter with them so that they can help them in any way. Exams are controlled by University of Calcutta. So they are not going to be easy in any way.

Review of Maulana Azad College.
Placements: After B.Sc, the college had not provided any placement opportunities. The college doesn't even have the placement cell. But, you can get a job with your own efforts by applying for different walk-in interviews and pooled campusing. From walk-in and pooled campusing, few of the students from our batch got placed with a salary package of 2.5 LPA, but most of the students were looking for high profile job opportunities. Internships could also be done, but you have to put your own efforts to find one. Once you find the internship, the teachers will provide you with a letter of recommendation if you ask them. But in West Bengal, most of the people do their internship during M.Sc. If you put the right efforts, then you can achieve a good job, or you can opt for higher studies.
Infrastructure: Maulana Azad College offers various graduate-level courses in all the three disciplines of science, arts and commerce. It provides postgraduate course like M.Sc only in zoology. Maulana Azad College has one of the best faculty in Kolkata, and among all the departments, physics has the best faculty and also infrastructure. The college provides Wi-Fi facility in all departments with the password known to the respective heads. It has a canteen, but that does not offer much as the canteen is closed most of the time. Quality of food served was not up to the mark. Labs and classrooms were in good condition, though labs in some departments were not up to date, and some computers were not working. This college has a great library with many books and computers with internet connectivity. The library was air-conditioned and has Wi-Fi facility. Sports were one of the best in this college as it offers various types of sports to participate and intra-college and college level sports are organised every year. The hostel is offered in the college only to the Muslim students. The hostel fee is very low, but the quality of the hostel was bad, and the food provided was not good at all.
Faculty: Students get all kinds of help from teachers, be it subject-oriented or any other problem. Teachers were always available for their students, even outside the college premises. Teachers do not only have degrees, but they were knowledgeable as well. The industry exposure provided was minimal. One has to go to industrial meets by themselves under the guidance of teachers. The course curriculum was helpful.
Other: The college encourages us to participate in various events like sports events, or events like Xavotsav, Umang, etc., held in other colleges.

Review for Maulana Azad college .
Placements: About 70 percent of students will get placed. In my course, many of them go abroad for research. The highest and lowest packages of my course are 3 LPA to 20 LPA. Every company needs statistics, so for almost every company, you have a chance. Data scientist, statistician, data analyst, and risk analyst are the top positions in my course.
Infrastructure: The department is so small, and the students are limited. But we have all the facilities, like Wi-Fi, water, and AC. The college has its own hostel and the canteen is not so good. And the hostel is only for Muslim candidates. We have medical facilities like first aid, but there is no field for playing sports.
Faculty: The teachers are highly educated and helpful. They teach us very well. They believe in quality, not quantity. Yes, this course's curriculum is relevant and the course is future-proof; in the near future, it'll have great opportunities. It's making us future-ready. The difficult level is hard. The pass percentage is 70 percent.
Other: If you like mathematics, than it's only mathematics with data science. You become a data analyst and a data scientist. It's a valuable subject. Skill-type classes are needed. We have all the basic events, but they are not very big. The campus is relaxing. If you have a poor financial background, then you can get a Swami Vivekananda scholarship. Extracurricular activities are there.

It is the perfect government college if you need a bachelor degree in reasonable fee.
Placements: The placement cell is very bad. In fact, there were no placements in 2017-18. The number of jobs offered is also very few. Only a few people get chance to sit for the interview, and that is decided according to the 1st-year and 2nd-year results. There are no aptitude tests for these interviews. Some departments do not even have placement for their courses.
Infrastructure: The infrastructure is very poor, but considering the fees which you have to pay, it is okay. The washrooms are the worst. There is no complete toilet for boys. There is a library with computers and Wi-Fi facilities. But, other than that, only B.Com department and English department have computer labs of their own. The canteen is new and is pretty good. For the recreational purpose, there is a small badminton court. The classrooms are very small, and there are only two big galleries, which all departments do not have access. There is a hostel just beside the college, but you need very good luck to get into the hostel.
Faculty: The faculty are very good in 90% of the departments. And the course of Calcutta University is followed, which is a bit outdated but okay. The teachers are highly qualified, and there are guest professors who come from various prestigious universities. The curriculum is not helpful for other competitive examinations. The student-faculty ratio is good. The methods of teaching are not exciting, and there is a very little exposure.
Other: The crowd is one of the biggest concern of this college. There are plenty of good students, but there are a few people who tend to make a fuss about everything. There is no ragging or disturbance from seniors at all. They are helpful if you reach out to them. Government scholarships are available even though it is not needed. There are extracurricular activities, and the college is invited to most of the biggest fests in the city. But the college didn't conduct a fest since 2015. The location of the college is very good it is the center of Kolkata near the new market.

This college is the Kolkata's rising star.
Placements: This college doesn't provide any internships to its students. Also, the placement opportunities are very low in this college. There are barely any companies coming to provide the placements, and even if they do, the salary is very low. Mainly, BPOs or call centres provide the jobs/ There is no placement cell available in this college.
Infrastructure: The library of this college is very efficient and has all the books any student would require during their course of study. The Wi-Fi facility is also available and is quite fast. The college has well-lit and clean classrooms. All the departments are very efficient towards any contests or programs held at the other colleges, i.e., they provide full support to the students for any competition or sports. The sports ground is very clean, and the college common room also has a gym and many indoor games. Very honestly, I never faced any infrastructural problems to date. The canteen doesn't have a huge menu, but the food they provide is quite delicious.
Faculty: Regarding the teachers, this college has been quite good. It has some of the best teachers of all times. They are really helpful if you seek help. Be attentive and focus on your studies and the teachers will be very impressed and would help you in every manner. The teaching methods are the same as in most of the colleges. A whiteboard and the markers with good verbal exposure from the teacher is all a student requires.
Other: This college supports every student to participate in different types of fests and events. Here, we don't have many events going on in our college, but we do not leave any stone unturned to win. In the last 5 years, our college has been quite a winner when it comes to the inter-college events.

* "None of the students were asked for appearing in Placement Interviews."
* "None of the students were placed. No Placement was provided in the final year."

Q:   Is it worth pursuing B.Com at Maulana Azad College?

A:
{Source: B.Com students & alumni}

Based on the reviews and feedback from current students and alumni, here's a summary of the key points:

Pros:

* Excellent professors with high qualifications and knowledge
* Good teaching quality, although some students may need to put in extra effort
* Relevant curriculum, especially for those interested in accounting, finance, and business-related fields
* Scholarships available for deserving students
* Affordable tuition fees
* Well-managed hostels with decent facilities
* Opportunities for extracurricular activities, such as festivals, sports, and cultural events

Cons:

* Limited placement opportunities, with most students having to secure jobs on their own
* No placement cells or internship programs within the college
* Semesters can be challenging, with a relatively low pass percentage
* Some students may feel that the curriculum could be more practical-oriented
* No dedicated departmental library or Wi-Fi access

Overall Assessment:
While Maulana Azad College offers a solid foundation in commerce, it falls short in terms of placement opportunities and practical exposure. However, students who are willing to put in extra effort and seek external opportunities may find success. Additionally, the college's strong academic reputation, supportive faculty, and vibrant campus life make it a viable option for those interested in pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Commerce.

Recommendation: For students considering admission to Maulana Azad College for B.Com, it's essential to weigh the pros and cons carefully. While the college excels in certain areas, the limitations in placement and internship opportunities might affect long-term career prospects. Still, with dedication and perseverance, students can achieve their academic and professional goals.
