Growing as a person over academic excellence.
Placements: The college has a placement cell. However, they did not offer any opportunities specifically for geography students. A few companies offered jobs that were open to all, but none of the students from my batch got placed through the placement cell. The internship was done as a part of the industrial experience. Students were placed in various companies of their choice.
Infrastructure: The college is nearly 200 years old, but most of the buildings are quite modern and well-equipped. There are auditoriums of various sizes and classrooms with different capacities. Geography department has two labs. One is a computer room, and the other is supposed to be a GIS lab. However, the second lab is well-equipped and only provides basic facilities.
Faculty: The course curriculum contains some good theory papers. But the practical papers lack practice-oriented content and is mostly taught as the theory. The teachers are qualified but do not use good teaching methods. Only a few teachers are knowledgeable, to provide learning beyond the syllabus. The syllabus lacks up to date content and needs to be revised. The industry exposure was received in the form of tourism-related visits. This was a good learning experience that helped connect theory to practicals.
Other: Madras Christian College has a lush green campus. It is situated in a shrub jungle which unfortunately was affected severely by the cyclone in 2016. Despite a large number of fallen trees, the greenery is now slowly getting revived. The halls of residence for men and women students is unique as it is loosely based on the sorority house system in America. Being a resident of the women's martin hall opened various opportunities for extra-curricular activities which were lacking in the geography department. Activities included sports, art, drama, literary and debating events. My MCC experience had more to do with the hall, and the opportunities were given than the academics of geography department. Personality, communication and skill development were the main takeaways from my three years in the college. If you are choosing this college, make sure you are picking the right department. Some are very good, while there are others like geography, which does not provide the best academic experience which in turn affects the overall experience.

Hello Ramesan, It's an interesting degree that you have. Normally speaking as one of the subjects is geography, I see no reason why any other university can deny you permission for doing PG in geography. But then proof of pudding is in eating. Best wishes
