Return on investment is best here, but the crowd is low, so extracurricular are not very active.
Placements: Placement is nearly 98% in metallurgy and materials engineering. The average package is moving around 7 - 9.25 LPA in 2024 (in campus). Major recruiters include companies like JSW Steel, Tata Steel, Vedanta, Jindal Steel, L&T, TCS, Mahindra, and others who frequently visit for recruitment. Many roles are in design, production, quality control, and project management.
Infrastructure: I'm in first year, so I can only provide a first-year hostel review (Homi J. Bhabha Hostel). The room is good, the hostel is very good, and the mess food is decent. There are 2 students per room, 2 tables, 2 cabinets, 2 small cabinets, 2 beds, and 2 chairs. The new washrooms are clean. The hostel is well-constructed with basic facilities like shared rooms, equipped with beds, study tables, chairs, and wardrobes. The rooms are spacious enough to accommodate 2 students, depending on the batch size and allotment. Wi-Fi is available but only for laptops. The hostel has common rooms equipped with televisions and indoor games for relaxation. Sports enthusiasts can access the campus's outdoor fields or courts.
Faculty: In terms of faculty, academics are the best. A 75% attendance is mandatory. Professors are supportive, and the classroom is the best academically. This college is best in academics. Most professors hold PhDs or advanced degrees from reputed institutions and have significant teaching and research experience. Many faculty members are involved in industrial consultancy projects and collaboration. Labs and workshops are integrated into the curriculum, and professors encourage hands-on learning through projects and assignments.
Other: I chose metallurgy and materials engineering because my brother said if you're going to NIAMT (NIFFT), choose metallurgy because of the best alumni network in this branch, placement, faculty, etc. Based on my JEE rank, I got the last branch, and I am from Jharkhand. I have taken placement here, and the return on investment was also good from the start.

Want a good government engineering college with a low JEE rank? This is it.
Placements: Good college for those who want to study only because many of our seniors got qualified for GATE. Placements are currently going on in our college, and many students have secured placements in JSW with a package of 9.5 LPA. As per the previous trend, almost every student gets placement here with an average package of 7-8 LPA. The top recruiting company is JSW, and the company offering the highest package is Vedanta. Last year, Vedanta offered 14 LPA to a student, which was the highest.
Infrastructure: The buildings of our hostel are very nice, and this year, renovation work is also underway. So, it will improve the look and interior of the hostel too. There is availability of Wi-Fi, a volleyball playground, a common room for watching television, and playing table tennis. The food here is not quite good, but our hostel, HJB hostel, is quite spacious. In our college, only 1st-year students live two in a single room; otherwise, all the students live in single rooms. You will also get 24-hour electricity, and there is no water problem. Medical facilities are good, and the doctor is also good. Caretakers of the hostel are also nice.
Faculty: Actually, the teachers are very good; they are very helpful in nature. Also, their teaching skills are too good, and they have good knowledge. The most important thing is that they teach in a very good manner. Also, there is no restriction on anyone of any kind in the classroom. I currently haven't appeared for exams, but our institute has become deemed, so from now on, the difficulty of exams might increase.
Other: Actually, for the branch of Materials Engineering, this institute is one of the best institutes, which also gives tough competition to NITs. The only thing that I don't like here is that there are no good fests and no such excess of extracurricular activities, but these activities are slowly increasing. Also, you will get a chance to avail scholarships.

Join if you want a good government engineering college with a lower JEE Main rank .
Placements: This year's placement rate was almost 100%, as 114 students got placed out of 120, which is quite good. The top recruiters are JSW, Vedanta, Tata Motors, etc. Most students were placed in JSW with a 9.6 LPA package and the highest package offered by Vedanta is 13.5 LPA.
Infrastructure: The college infrastructure is good but small, not big, as compared to other NITs or big private colleges but it is well maintained. The facilities provided by the college are Wi-Fi, labs, a common room, Gymkhana and many other things. There are 5 boys hostels and 2 girls hostels, of which one is under construction. But there are no canteen facilities and the mess quality is also average or, at times, below average.
Faculty: The faculty members are very helpful and supportive. Most young faculty are quite helpful and good in teaching and they will help you if you want help regarding higher education, placement, internships, etc. If you are tortured by senior, you can complain they will immediately help you.
Other: Metallurgy and Materials Engineering is the best course in this college and if you want to prepare for higher studies like an MBA or GATE, then seniors will help you. The mess should be improved.

Want good government engineering college with a low JEE rank ? This is it.
Placements: Placement was quite good this year, and the placement rate was 100% for the Mechanical and Metallurgy branches. The highest package was 16 LPA, and many students received 13.6 LPA from Vedanta and JSW. Additionally, as always, companies like JSW offered 9.6 LPA and hired in bulk. Therefore, the average package is between 9 to 10 LPA, which is quite good for Metallurgy and Materials Engineering as a fresher.
Infrastructure: The infrastructure is not that great, but it is well-maintained. There are a total of 7 hostels: 5 boys' hostels and 2 girls' hostels. Each year has a separate hostel for boys, so there is not much ragging. Each hostel has a large common room with a big TV, table tennis, and many indoor games. The 1st-year hostel has 4 grounds inside, including a badminton court, volleyball court, and cricket area. Wi-Fi is available in the hostel 24/7. There is also a library for studying or borrowing books.
Faculty: The faculty are very helpful and knowledgeable as well. If you need any assistance with internships or preparation for the GATE exam, they will help you. There are a total of eight semesters and sixteen midsems; each semester has two midsems, and the best of the two will be chosen.
