Review of NIT Raipur from an insider's perspective.
Placements: Total, this year about 65% of students here were placed, and the maximum salary is about 40 LPA, with an average of 9 LPA. Most of the recruiting companies are IT agencies and some coding companies also, but some local coaching institutes and other local companies also recruit from here. The most favorable roles are for data analysis and software development work in IT companies.
Infrastructure: The college is very well-equipped with Wi-Fi labs throughout the campus and enough spacing in classrooms. The library is good with enough books, but the reading space is a little on the smaller side. The hostel facilities are not available for all students, but in the new boys' hostel and girls' hostels, the facilities are very good, with proper bathrooms, Wi-Fi, and all requirements being met for both boys and girls.
Faculty: The teachers are exceptionally qualified and knowledgeable on the campus, and most of the teachers are very helpful with projects, semester work, and throughout the journey of the course. Some teach us the latest topics and also involve us in research work. They are exceptionally helpful with extracurricular activities as well and provide guidance for career growth. The seniors and the teachers make the perfect combination for a student.
Other: The campus, though a little smaller in area, has a very happening campus life, thanks to the alumni network and the exceptionally good senior base. More than 15 annual fests are held at the college, and some exceptionally good events happen in the fests, with students coming from other colleges as well to have a great time together, vibing with technology, music, and other activities. I particularly chose this course because I have an interest in civil engineering and building new buildings with integrated software technology. The labs should be more aligned with AI and new-generation technologies, which are currently missing here.

Overall, a good college, but emphasis should be made towards the hostel and placements.
Placements: The overall percentage of placements was close to 65%, and it depends on the courses. For my course, civil engineering, the overall placement average was 50%, while it was highest for CS, at 90%. The highest package offered in my course was 22 LPA, and the average package was 9 LPA. Top recruiting companies include Reliance, Vedanta, ZS Associates, etc. Internship opportunities are not plentiful; still, 5 to 6 people get paid internships from the college. The top roles offered in my course are data analyst, graduate engineer trainee, etc.
Infrastructure: You will get Wi-Fi on campus. You will get labs equipped with essential computers and equipment. Classrooms are good, but they do not have AC. The library has central AC, and laptops are also available there for your use. Regarding hostels, NIT Raipur has a limited number, so most people stay outside. Hostels are allotted based on CGPA. The hostel mess is quite good. There are two canteens available: one is the Vachan canteen, and the other is the Bihan canteen. There is a big football ground, a cricket ground, a basketball court, a kabaddi ground, and a volleyball court on campus.
Faculty: Faculty members are quite helpful. They are highly qualified and teach efficiently. The course curriculum is excellent and meets industry standards. It makes students industry-ready by allowing them to apply their skills in well-equipped labs. Semester exams are quite hectic, as you have to face mid-terms and finals, and the semester usually ends within four months. The exam difficulty level ranges from moderate to difficult, but it can be easily tackled if you study regularly.
Other: I chose this course based on my rank. One of the best things about my course is that you have a lot of opportunities in the government sector, along with private IT companies and other sectors. What needs to be improved in my course is that more effort should be made toward placements in core sectors. There are various events conducted in our college, like various fests, a musical fest called Shruti, a technical fest called Aavishkar, and a cultural fest named Sanskriti, etc. Scholarships are also awarded from time to time through national scholarship portals and state scholarships. Also, various extracurricular activities are organized by various clubs, such as poetry writing competitions, debate competitions, essay writing competitions, and more.

Faculty members are not up to par, but overall experience is nice to date.
Placements: My course placement rate is 60 percent, which is quite low compared to other branches. The highest package was 12 LPA, and the lowest was 6 LPA. The placement scenario is questionable. If you want to talk about my internship, I have done an internship at Cspdcl. So in the core, you get an unpaid internship.
Infrastructure: Faculties not as expected quite average learning experience mostly we prepare from YouTube. The hostel facility is decent, but only a small number of students get hostels. Because there are only 5 hostels on campus with a capacity of 1500 students. So it is difficult to get a hostel.
Faculty: Teachers are not that helpful; they are only busy with their work. Hope so many high p pe has come out of our college. Semester exams are tough; you need to study for 40 percent of top marks. Our college has a CPI system, so you need to have a good CPI overall to get a good result.
Other: I was not getting better in college in my JEE rank. Fests are nice, but they are not frequent; we only attend three fests a year, but we enjoy them a lot.

NIT Raipur is a roller coaster ride.
Placements: Placements are good enough for this NIT but the placement of the civil department is not as expected. My branch previous year placement is like only 25 students got placed out of 90 and the minimum package is 3.3 LPA and the maximum is up to 18 LPA for my department, which is decent but not good enough.
Infrastructure: Infrastructure is average at my college. Classrooms are not sufficient; we have to do classes at different times due to the availability of classes and hostel accommodation is not good, with very few hostel seats given on a CPI basis. So this creates more competition among students .
Faculty: The faculty is nice and well qualified for a Ph.D. but not very supportive, especially in the civil department. They behave very rudely toward students. My curriculum is nice and descriptive. It gives us good knowledge about engineering and helps us explore this field. So it is good enough.
Other: My batch has 96 students and is nice and supportive.

Review of NIT Raipur - National Institute of Technology.
Placements: We have a separate committee that looks after placements. The placement is about 50% in my branch, I would say. But after getting placed, only 30% actually take up the job. The hiring process of the coordinators for this committee could use some changes. But it's okay overall.
Infrastructure: The hostel has very few seats. Also, it's not like hostels are very luxurious or anything. They are unhygienic. Sure, people survive and if given the chance, I would like to stay. But there are a lot of things that can be fixed. The college building and classrooms are average, I would say.
Faculty: They don't teach like they want us to become good engineer. They teach us enough that we get a taste of how everything is, not diving deep into anything. It's good and bad in some sense. The exams are good; they start and finish within a week so that's a plus point.
Other: I cannot say about other departments. But the permanent faculties of our department are very great at what they do. Their experience, passion for teaching and liking for the subject—everything reflects while they teach. It's safe to say I enjoy listening to their experiences.

Students also asked

Q:   What to do after JEE Main session 2 result?

A:

Candidates preparing for IITs are only required to appear for the JEE Advanced entrance exam after qualifying JEE Main. Students who who secure above the 98th percentile in JEE Main 2024 Session 2 should start preparing for JEE Advanced 2025 immediately. Those who score between 95th and 98th percentile should focus on improving their JEE Main score by taking multiple mock tests and practicing previous year's question papers. By analysing their strengths and weaknesses, candidates can identify their areas of proficiency and topics where they need improvement. If they can achieve full marks in their practice sessions, they can start preparing for JEE Advanced. However, if they cannot score full marks, it is recommended that they appear for multiple mock test series for more practice.
