The college atmosphere and students are excellent. Placement alone needs improvement.
Placements: Around 60 percent of students got placed in our batch. The lowest package is 1.80 LPA and the highest package is 6 LPA. Around 40 percent of students will go for an internship either nearby Madurai or outer. No companies will come for the Civil department as a core company. So we don't have a top recruiting company.
Infrastructure: The facilities available are Wi-Fi, labs, classrooms, library, hostel computing center, and general computing center. The medical facilities were extremely good. Food was average and sports were above average. The cultural department was excellent. Extracurricular activities are going well and doing good.
Faculty: The staff and syllabus will help us to gain more practical knowledge than textbooks. The exam pattern is also comfortable. Almost 50 percent is a pass percentage. The curriculum is different from other colleges, it is somewhat helpful to meet the industry level but still needs some revisions.
Other: If some companies come to make a placement for the civil engineering department, then our department students will also lead a better life after college.

I'm satisfied with the college.
Placements: Less than 3% of students were placed in our course. Our college has nothing much about placements on the core side. But there is a lot of scope for placements on the IT side. There are more than four IT companies recruiting nearly 700–800 students across all streams in a single year.
Infrastructure: The hostel in our college is good, and it has good canteen food. We had access to all the labs. The library facilities were pretty good. The hostel food is vegetarian only, and it is South Indian cuisine. It tastes very well. The Wi-Fi facility is good, and the extra-curricular activities were also well organised.
Faculty: Teachers at our college were extremely helpful in clarifying questions and providing adequate knowledge in their respective fields. This course curriculum was very relevant and will help you pass GATE and other related exams because the portion is very relevant to that. Semesters were moderately difficult and the pass percentage was around 80%-85%.

Review of Thiagarajar College of Engineering.
Placements: About 40% of the students from our course got placed. Our college does the best part by giving virtual internships to the students apart from academics. Due to this pandemic, the internship programme was too difficult for the students to afford. But if it is offline, our college recommends to many companies by providing a bonafide certificate. Companies that have visited our department is very few, like L&T. Software companies like HCL, Infosys and Wipro visit our college for placements. Due to this pandemic, placements have become quite difficult for the students.
Infrastructure: All the labs are well-equipped. Wi-Fi facility is available in each block of our college. The library is well-maintained and monitored properly so that check-in and check out of books will happen smoothly. The best part of the TCE is the hostel, as it serves a fine quality of healthy vegetarian recipes. Our college has a separate block for dispensaries. Sports and games have powerful teams and coaches for few sports.
Faculty: All the teachers are helpful in building the students passion other than academics. Faculty members have good experience in the current field. The course curriculum is very relevant for placement as well as GATE exams. Since the outcomes are based on competitive exams, it makes sense for students to prepare while undertaking the UG course itself. Semester exams are a bit difficult to crack, and if we make a proper plan with course outcomes, surely we can get a decent CGPA.

It is the only college in south Tamil Nadu which gives more freedom to students.
Placements: L&T, Saint Gobain, Shoba Construction and Bharathi Cement are some top recruiting companies which visited in 2020. In the core branch, the highest salary package offered is 6.5 LPA and the lowest salary package offered is 1.2 LPA. The highest salary package offered is 4.1 LPA in software companies, but it may be for other departments. GET role is offered by core companies.
Infrastructure: The infrastructure of our college is good with all facilities. The campus is built of stone which gives a vintage aesthetic look, and it has free Wi-Fi with high-speed. It is a mobile free campus. Classrooms are fully computerised, and lectures are recorded, which can be seen later with logins. There are digitalised and non-digitalised library.
Faculty: Teachers here are very helpful and well-qualified. Most of the faculty members in our college hold PhD, and some hold more than a PhD. All teachers are well-experienced and knowledgeable in their own domains, and they give guidelines during projects. Courses are more relevant to real-time and make students ready for industry.

College life will be good, but placements are poor.
Placements: There are 1 or 2 companies which are visiting here for placements for our civil department. Those companies that are coming are mainly IT and CS-related companies. Top companies offered for our department are core companies like Bharathi Cement and some medium-scaled industries.
Infrastructure: The infrastructure of our college and hostel is good. Food available in the canteen and hostel is average. Hostel food contains only vegetarian, so students are finding it difficult to eat in the hostel, and they are eating food outside for once in a week.
Faculty: Teachers here are helpful sometimes. Some teachers are always explaining about their success in our college and not about the syllabus. Teachers are well-qualified and experienced. Our college is one of the best to have qualified teachers in India.
Other: Events and extracurricular activities around the campus are good, but it is not well-announced that the event is going to take place.

Q:   Can students with a minimum cutoff for B.Sc get a seat at Thiagarajar College of Engineering?

A:

Thiagarajar College of Engineering mainly has B.Tech programs, not B.Sc. For B.Tech, whether you can get in depends on your cutoff score, which can change each year because of competition. So, if your score is close to the cutoff, you might get in. But for B.Sc, you should check with the college to see if they offer those programs and what you need to get in.
