UCEED 2019 exam was conducted today, January 19. Candidates shared that the exam was of moderate to high difficulty level. Also, marking scheme in the exam was different than past years' question papers.
UCEED 2019 was conducted by IIT Bombay today, January 19. The exam was conducted from 10:00 AM – 1:00 PM in 20 cities across India. In the exam, candidates had to answer total 85 questions spread across three sections: Section A - Numerical Answer Type (NAT), Section B - Multiple Select Questions (MSQs), and Section C - Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs). Check UCEED 2019 exam pattern.
UCEED admission process is such that candidates who clear the written entrance test can apply at colleges accepting UCCED 2019 scores for admission.
Shiksha spoke to students who took UCEED 2019 exam in different cities across India to know how their exam went. Majority of students who appeared for the exam shared that the paper was of moderate to high difficulty level.
UCEED 2019: Difficulty Level
As per Rahul Yadav who gave the exam from Jaipur, “My exam went average. It was of moderate difficulty level. I was able to attempt 74 questions out of 85 questions. Among all the sections in the exam, I found section B (MSQ) the most difficult. Other than that, I found both the other two sections (NAT and MCQ) easy.”
According to Shivie from Amity International School, Noida, “Although the difficulty level of UCEED 2019 was high, my exam went good.” Talking about the section-wise difficulty of the exam, Shivie said, “For me, NAT was the most difficult and lengthy section. Mathematical questions consumed a lot of my time and so I was not able to complete my paper on time. Other than that, I also found MCQ section of the exam a bit lengthy. The difficulty level of MSQ section was the lowest.”
Abhishek Bhawnani, who gave the exam from Mumbai shared, “As previous years, the difficulty level of UCEED exam was moderate to high. Questions in NAT were both tough and lengthy. In MSQ section, there were less number of General Knowledge questions, which was unexpected. Apart from this, I found MCQ section a bit difficult as well.”
Another candidate, Gangadhar gave the exam from Vishakhapatnam. He shared, “My exam went good. Of all the sections in the exam, questions in NAT were the most difficult which I did not expect. However, this year there were lesser number of questions in NAT, which was a benefit for me. Of the remaining two sections, I found section B of moderate difficulty level and section C easy.” Talking about the time management in UCEED exam, Gangadhar shared that he could not complete his paper due to lack of time.
Another student, Riya from Noida said that her exam went well and she is extremely sure of the answers she has given in the exam. Regarding the difficulty level of the paper, Riya shared, “Overall, the exam was of moderate difficulty level. Questions in NAT were most difficult. However, questions from both the other sections were easy.” Riya also talked about the lengthiness of the exam and said, “Although it was a bit lengthy, I managed my time in the exam well and was able to complete my paper.”
UCEED 2019: Exam Pattern
All the candidates that Shiksha spoke to shared that there was a change in UCEED exam pattern as compared to previous years.
As per Rahul, “Unlike previous years, this year there was negative marking in two sections of the exam – MCQ as well as MSQ. For every incorrect answer in MSQ section, 0.19 marks were deducted. Also, for every wrong answer in MCQ section of the exam, 1.3 marks were deducted.”
According to Shivie, “There were some changes in the exam pattern this year with respect to the negative marking. This year two sections (MSQ and MCQ) had negative marking unlike previous years. However, other than the marking scheme, total number of questions and total marks in the exam were same as previous years. There were total 85 questions of 300 marks.”
Abhishek revealed, “There was +3 marking for every correct answer in both NAT and MSQ sections of the exam. However, in MCQ section, +4 marks were given for every correct answer.” Talking about the negative marking in UCEED 2019 exam, Abhishek shared, “There was negative marking in both section B (MSQ) and section C (MCQ) of the exam.
UCEED 2019: Computer-Based Experience
All the students that Shiksha spoke to shared that their experience of giving a computer-based test (CBT) was good and there were no technical glitches in the exam.
As per Riya, “My experience of giving a CBT was good since I appeared for one sometime back. I had faced some difficulty with the CBT format when I gave an exam for the first time. However, in UCEED 2019, I knew how to manage my computer well. Also, there were no technical issues in the exam.”
Abhishek from Mumbai also shared that his experience of giving the online exam was good and he faced no technical difficulty in the paper.
