The National Institute of Design will conduct the NID DAT 2025 exam on January 5, 2025. The exam will be conducted in an offline mode in 22 cities across India.

Q. How soon is the NID Studio Test conducted after the NID DAT?
Q: How difficult is it to get into NID Ahmedabad?
NID Ahmedabad admission 2024 is based on NID Design Aptitude Test conducted for both B. Des and M.Des courses. The Design Aptitude Test comprises two steps:
DAT Prelims - The applicant takes the Prelims test initially.
DAT Mains - Candidates are chosen for DAT Mains based on their performance in that Prelims.
For admission to the BDes or MDes course, it is mandatory to appear in both that Prelims and that Mains. NID DAT Prelims comprises both objective- and subjective-type questions. Candidates must have a well-thought-out NID study plan if they want to ace the test. Candidates might adhere to the following preparation schedule for the NID Entrance Exam 2024:
- Know the NID DAT exam pattern and marking scheme well
- Get well-versed with the NID DAT syllabus

The National Institite of Design (NID) has released the list of exam centres for the DAT Prelims exam on September 3, 2024.
The list of exam centers have been published in the respective admission brochures for the B.Des and M.Des programs.
The DAT Prelims exam will be conducted in 22 cities across the country - Ahmedabad, Bengaluru, Bhopal, Bhubaneshwar, Chandigarh, Chennai, Dehradun, Guwahati, Hyderabad, Jaipur, Kochi, Kolkata, Kurukshetra, Lucknow, Mumbai, Nagpur, New Delhi, Patna, Raipur, Ranchi, Thiruvananthapuram, Vijayawada.
Note that each of these cities may have one or more exam centres.
The candidate can select their choice of exam centre at the time of filling out the application form. The NID DAT 2025 application form opened on September 3, 2024.
Ans. Studio Test is conducted within 1 and half months after results for the written test are declared. There is also a schedule mentioned on NID website/prospectus every year.
Q. How did you prepare for NID studio test?
Ans. I got an idea about the second phase that includes studio test and interview from my brother who had done Graphic Design from NID. He suggested me to talk to some of the senior students from the same discipline that I applied for. Talking to them gave me an overview of what studio test of Apparel Design would be like. Then I practiced the same and tried to devise my time management strategy by practicing studio test exercises based on the studio test questions that I could find online. And with each practice session, I tried to figure out how I could improve and tried to incorporate the same in the next test. I took these tests every weekend after the first phase result was out.

Ans. No, I did not go for any coaching for the studio test.

Ans. It’s approximately 3 times the number seats for every discipline.

Ans. We all sat as per our candidate ID. And we were given papers for the doodling exercise. And then material test was conducted after a short break.
Q: When will the NID DAT 2025 Prelims exam be conducted?

Q: Can I get admission in NID Gandhinagar without entrance exam?
As per the information available online, NID Gandhinagar admissions are entrance-based. Hence, direct admission is not offered to the candidates. Candidates seeking admission to MDes programmes have to appear for the DAT prelims and DAT mains. The institute shortlist candidates for the Mains based on score in prelims. Further, in the Mains exam, candidates have to take the studio test followed by an interview round.

Ans. I carried stationery like pencil, eraser, sharpener, pen, scale, etc. as mentioned in the call letter for the studio test. We need pencils during doodling exercise and pencil/pen for brief description about what we do in the next test. Besides, any additional material like wire or equipment like pliers, that we might need based on the given task is provided during the test.
Q. How many students are there in one room during the Studio Test?
Ans. During my studio test, everyone was there in one big room for the studio test.
Q. Are students asked to work simultaneously during the Studio Test?
Ans. Yes, everyone attempts the questions asked at the same time.
Q. What all was asked in your Studio Test?
Ans. The studio test was conducted in two sessions. The first session included a doodling exercise where we needed to complete each given frame with doodles. Then there was a short break of around 10-15 minutes. Thereafter, in the next phase, we were given two tasks that we needed to perform using the materials provided. First, was to make something that carries 6 eggs safely under mentioned conditions. Secondly, one was to make a product using straps, wires, threads, etc.
Q. Are all the students given the same set of questions in NID studio test?
Ans. Yes.
Q. On what basis are students evaluated in NID Studio Test?
Ans. Frankly, I won’t be able to give a clear idea about the basis of selection as it would depend on the faculty. However, as I know it’s on how best you can approach the given test within the specified time frame.
Q. What is the next step in the NID admission process after the studio test round?
Ans. Next step is interview round that happens in 3 days after the studio test is conducted, as per the time mentioned for each student. Students are informed about the interview date and time just after the studio test.
Interviews begin from the next day of studio test. It concludes in 3 days usually. If due to some reason a student wants to advance the interview then that is also done.
