NID Design Aptitude Test (Prelims) 2025 for Master of Design (MDes) and Bachelor of Design (BDes) courses will be conducted on January 5, 2025. The NID DAT 2025 exam will be conducted across 22 cities in India. NID DAT (Prelims) is a three-hour test and the first stage of the two-stage NID entrance exam. On the day of the exam, the candidate must bring the NID DAT admit card 2025 and a photo ID proof. Check the list of exam-day guidelines for NID DAT 2025. Note that latecomers will not be allowed inside the NID DAT 2025 exam center. Candidates are informed that the reporting time for the design exam is 8:00 AM and the gate closing time for the NID entrance exam is 9:30 AM. Aspirants will not be allowed to enter NID exam centre 30 minutes after the Design Aptitude Test (DAT) starts. Candidates who qualify NID DAT (Prelims), which is a written exam, have to appear in NID DAT (Mains), which comprises a Studio Test and Interview round.

Q: When will the NID DAT 2025 Prelims exam be conducted?
The National Institute of Design (NID) will conduct the DAT Prelims exam on January 5, 2025.
The B.Des exam will be held from 10 am - 1 pm; meanwhile, the M.Des exam will be held from 10 am - 12.30 am.
The DAT Prelims for the B.Des programme will be conducted in a paper-and-pencil/pen mode. The question paper may incude both textual and visual questions. Other details like duration of the exam, marking scheme, etc. will be published in the DAT Prelims admit card.
The candidate needs to report for the exam at 8 am. Gates closing time is 9.30 am.
The DAT Prelims exam for the M.Des programme will be conducted offline and include a mix of objective and subjective questions. The paper will have a total of 100 questions.
Candidates can go through the list of important documents that they need to positively carry to the allotted test center on the day of NID Entrance Exam 2025.
NID DAT 2025 Admit Card: Candidates need to download their admit card from the official website of NID entrance exam 2025. Further, they need to carry a clear printout of their valid admit card to the test centre.
Aspirants are informed that they will not be allowed to appear for NID DAT 2024 if they are not carrying their valid NID DAT admit card to their exam centre. The admit card for NID Entrance Exam comprises information such as the candidate’s name, roll number and exam centre details. Apart from this, the admit card for NID DAT also mentions the items that candidates can and cannot carry to the exam centre.
The admit card for NID exam will be separately verified as well as signed by the invigilator during the exam. The invigilator will then detach the lower part (Part B) of the admit card and hand over the upper part (Part A) to the candidate.
Photo ID Proof: Aspirants need to carry a valid and original photo ID proof to the exam centre. In absence of such a document the candidate can bring another copy of their NID DAT admit card (both part-A and -B) attested by the Principal of their current school/college or a gazetted officer. Any candidate not carrying either of the documents (ID proof or attested admit card) will not be allowed to sit for the exam. The photo ID can be anyone from the list mentioned below:

Q: Can I join NID Vijaywada/ National Institute of Design, Andhra Pradesh directly?
No, you cannot enrol directly in NID Vijaywada or the National Institute of Design in Andhra Pradesh. NID Vijaywada admits students through a two-stage admission test procedure. The first step is the national exam administered by NID, called the Design Aptitude Test (DAT). The interview and design portfolio constitute the second phase.
You must have received at least a 50% grade in your class 12 Diploma from an accredited board in order to be eligible for the DAT. Any of the three NID Vijaywada-offered disciplines—industrial design, textile and apparel design, and communication design—may be applied for the DAT.
You will be placed for the design portfolio and interview if you pass the DAT. Your design expertise and skills should be on display in your portfolio. You might talk about your reason for pursuing a career in design as well as your design portfolio during the interview.
Admittance is extremely competitive; only a small portion of candidates are chosen. On the other hand, your chances of success are higher if you have a strong portfolio and are passionate about design.

NID Ahmedabad admission 2024 is based on NID Design Aptitude Test conducted for both B. Des and M.Des courses. The Design Aptitude Test comprises two steps:
