BDes Interior Design

BDes in Interior Design is a course of 4 years duration. This course deals with the arts and science of creating functional spaces that are efficient and in line with the trends. This course teaches the students how to balance the creativity, functionality, and efficiency of any space strategically. Candidates who have studied Physics, Chemistry, Biology, and Mathematics as subjects in 10+2 can take this course.

BSc Interior Design

BSc Interior Design course is of 3 years duration and can be pursued after 10+2. This course deals with the science of designing functional space for commercial or personal buildings, apartments or houses. In this course, students are taught about the scientific and logical methods of designing great interior spaces. Candidates who have studied Physics, Chemistry, Biology, and Mathematics as subjects in 10+2 can take this course.

MDes Interior Design

Students who have a sense of aesthetics and creativity can upgrade their knowledge with the MDes in Interior Design course. This course is pursued after graduation and is of 2 years duration. This course teaches a higher level of personal creativity with professional skills such as project management. Candidates can find themselves learning the technical and artistic forms of communication.

MSc Interior Design

The MSc in interior ensign course is of 2 years duration. This course deals with the specialisation of Interior Designing concepts. Skills needed for designing, experimenting, and materializing a space are taught in this course. This course can be pursued after graduation.

Certificate/Diploma in Interior Design

Certificate/Diploma in Interior Design course can be pursued after 10+2. Some institutes allow admission to these courses after class 10. Certificate and diploma courses can be pursued for gaining knowledge. These courses are not recommended if one is looking for a career in Interior Design. Diploma/certificate course will not provide an in-depth insight into the vast field of Interior Design and its application. Therefore, candidates who wish to pursue Interior Design courses for hobby or knowledge can opt for certificate/diploma courses.

The Interior Design course is available at 2 levels - UG and PG. Apart from that, certificate and diploma courses are also available, as discussed above. But, how do you take admission in these courses? Let us discuss it below:

Admission to UG Interior Design Courses

Admission to the UG Interior Design course is offered after 10+2. Admission depends on college to college. Some colleges take admission in UG Interior Design courses based on entrance exams (national / institute level), on the other hand, some take admission based on merit in qualifying exams. However, all admissions are subject to fulfilment of the eligibility criteria that includes minimum marks in the qualifying exam, age, nationality, etc.

Admission to PG Interior Design Courses

To take admission in the PG Interior Design courses, candidates have to be a graduate with relevant degrees. There might be a need to qualify in the national / institute level entrance exam in some colleges. Apart from that, required eligibility criteria must be fulfilled like minimum marks in the qualifying exam, age, nationality, etc.

Admission to Certificate / Diploma Interior Design Course

A diploma or certificate course in Interior Design can be pursued after 10+2 or after graduation. These courses are short term courses and require no hard and fast eligibility criteria. In fact certificate courses in Interior Design can be pursued online too. No specific entrance exam is required to take admission in the certificate/diploma courses.

To take admission in the UG, PG, Certificate / Diploma course in Interior Design, candidates must be eligible. The eligibility is specific to the institute that offers the courses. But there are some common grounds in the eligibility area, which are given below.

Eligibility for admission in UG courses:

  • Must have achieved prescribed minimum marks in 10+2
