UCEED Exam Pattern 2025 - The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Bombay has released the exam pattern of UCEED 2025 on its official portal

The exam pattern is outlined in the UCEED 2025 Information Brochure

As per the UCEED exam pattern, Part B will include two questions - one question is drawing-based, while the other question is design-aptitude-based. Earlier, Part B included a single drawing-based question.

The test duration for Part B will be 60 minutes, while the duration for Part A will be 120 minutes.

IIT Bombay will conduct the UCEED 2025 exam on January 19, 2025.

Q:   When will IIT Bombay release the exam pattern for the UCEED 2025 exam?

A:

IIT Bombay will release the detailed exam pattern for UCEED 2025 tentatively in September 2024. The exam pattern will be outlined in the information brochure for the UCEED 2025 exam. The candidate will be able to download the brochure online at UCEED. Iitb. AC. In. Note that no log-in is required to download the information brochure. To download the brochure, simply go to the portal, and click on the Information Brochure tab. The brochure will open in downloadable pdf format. Download a pdf copy of the brochure.

Q:   Is there any changes to the UCEED 2025 exam pattern?

A:

IIT Bombay had released a notification on its official website notifying that the UCEED exam starting in 2024 will be conducted following a revised syllabus. As per the revised syllabus, there has also been some changes to the UCEED exam pattern. For instance, the Part B question paper will now include two questions - 1) one question will be on Drawing and 2) the other question will be on Design Aptitude. Note that previously, Part B included a solitary, drawing-based question. Also, the time duration for Part B has been increased to 60 minutes from 30 minutes.

UCEED Exam Pattern 2025 - Structure of the Question Paper

The key features of the UCEED 2025 question paper are mentioned below:

  1. IIT Bombay revised the exam pattern of UCEED 2025 in the previous edition.
  2. The question paper now has two parts - Part A and Part B. Both parts are mandatory.
  3. The UCEED 2025 exam will have one question paper. The test duration for Paper B is 60 minutes. The duration of Part A is 2 hours.
  4. The question paper will be set in English
  5. The total marks for the exam (Part A + Part B) will be 300 marks.

Q:   What types of questions will be asked in Section 1 of UCEED 2025 question paper?

A:

Section 1 of the UCEED question paper 2025 will include NAT (Numerical Answer Type). There will be a total of 18 questions, each carrying 4 marks. There is no negative marking for an incorrect attempt. For NAT-type questions, the answer will be a number that the candidate needs to be entered using a virtual keyboard in the computer screen. Note that the candidate will not be given any choices for these questions.

Q:   What will be mode of Part A paper for UCEED 2025?

A:

The Part A paper of UCEED 2025 exam will be administered in a computer-based mode. So, the candidate must know the basics of computer handling to take the exam. Note that advanced knowledge of software and hardware is not needed to take the paper. Note that in the scenario there is a technical issue during the exam, the candidate may approach the invigilator for assistance. The invigilator will then take remedial steps to fix the problem. If the problem persists, the candidate will be assigned a different computer terminal.

UCEED 2025 Part A - Types of Questions and Marking Scheme  

The Part A UCEED question paper will include THREE types of questions.

  • Section 1: Numerical Answer Type (NAT): 14 questions (4 marks each; no negative marks). For these questions, an answer is a number that needs to be entered using a virtual keyboard on the computer screen. No choices will be shown for these questions.
  • Section 2: Multiple Select Questions (MSQ) - 15 questions. Each MSQ may have one or more than one correct choice(s) out of the four given. The following is the marking scheme:
    • Full Marks: + 4 If only (all) the correct option(s) is(are) chosen and NONE of the incorrect options are chosen.
    • Partial Marks: + 3 If all four options are correct but ONLY three options are chosen and NONE of the incorrect options are chosen.
    • Partial Marks: + 2 If three or more options are correct but ONLY two options are chosen, both of which are correct, and NONE of the incorrect options are chosen.
    • Partial Marks: + 1 If two or more options are correct but ONLY one option is chosen and it is a correct option and NONE of the incorrect options are chosen.
    • Zero Marks: 0 If none of the options is chosen (i.e., the question is unanswered).
    • Negative Marks: -1 In all other cases.
  • Section 3: Multiple Choice Questions (MCQ) - 28 questions (3 marks each for the correct answer; 0.71 negative marks for incorrect answers). Each MCQ will have four choices, out of which only one is the correct answer.

UCEED Part B - Key Pointers

The candidate needs to note the following points about the sketching (or Part B) test:

  1. Part B will include TWO questions
  2. The questions will be displayed on the computer screen, but the answer has to be written/ drawn in the answer book provided by the invigilator.
  3. Part B test will evaluate the drawing skills and design aptitude of the candidate. 
  4. Like Part A, Part B is also mandatory. This means that if the candidate doesn't attempt Part B, his or her results won't be declared.
  5. Note that for PwD candidates who are using the services of a scribe, no assistance in Part B is permitted. It is because the question seeks to evaluate the drawing skills of the candidate.
  6. The Part B answer booklets will be collected from the candidate at the end of the exam.

Q:   Am I allowed to use the services of a scribe for appearing in UCEED 2025?

A:

Only such candidates who belong to the PwD category are allowed to use the services of a scribe. The candidate can use scribe services only for Part A. However, using the services of a scribe is not allowed for Part B. It is because Part B of the question paper is used to evaluate the candidates drawing skill. The candidate can select their category (PwD in this case) at the time of filling out the UCEED 2025 application form. In case of candidates belonging to any other category than PwD, scribe services is not allowed.

The candidate needs to remember the following points about Part B question paper of UCEED 2025: Part-B will now include only TWO questions The question for the section will shown on the computer monitor. The candidate after reading the question has to write/ draw the answer option in the answer booklet provided by the invigilator. Part B test will evaluate the drawing ability and Design Aptitude of the candidate. Part B is mandatory and will only be evaluated if the candidate qualifies Part A. The cut-off marks for Part A will be declared by IIT Bombay before declaration of results.
