Parvik Dave from Ahmedabad, Gujarat emerged as one of the JEE Main 2019 state toppers. Securing 340 out of 360 in the second session of the exam, Dave's percentile stood at 99.99. According to this topper, his score improved by 24 marks in the second session of JEE Main 2019 held from April 8 to 12. While Dave’s state rank in JEE Main 2019 is 1, his All India Rank in 60.
JEE Main April 2019 results were declared by the National Testing Agency (NTA) on April 29. JEE Main was held twice in 2019 - once in January and the second time in April.
According to Parvik, securing an All India Rank under 100 came as a surprise. He said, “I am very happy. After all, the results were beyond my expectations. I only wanted to get a good score, I never expected such a rank”.

Parvik has been preparing for the exam for the last two years. His success mantra for JEE Main was his consistency. Talking about his preparation strategy he shared, “My preparation strategy was to regularly revise what I learnt and dedicated 10 to 12 hours daily”.

Is coaching necessary to crack JEE Main?
Parvik shares that coaching isn’t crucial to crack JEE Main 2019. He commented, “I do not think coaching is quintessential, but it does help if you attend a coaching Institute. I joined Allen Career Institute for my preparations”.
Even though Parvik aims to get into IIT Bombay to pursue Robotic engineering, he will also be appearing for other engineering entrances and Olympiads including GUJCET, BITSAT, KVPY etc for admissions to other institutes.
Parvik’s father works at Tata chemicals limited and mother runs a small business. The lad is fond of outdoor sports like badminton and basketball.
