TNEA 2025 Application Form: The Directorate of Technical Education, Tamil Nadu will release the TNEA application form 2025 in May 2025. 10+2 passed/appearing candidates can apply for TNEA 2025 counselling. Admission will be based on marks obtained by the candidates in the relevant subjects, namely, Maths, Physics and Chemistry which will be reduced to 200 (Maths – 100, Physics – 50 and Chemistry – 50). The TNEA application process involves TNEA 2025 registration, application form filling, previewing the form, application fee payment, and generation of the confirmation page. The candidates must take a printout of the filled-in online application form and keep it with them for any future reference.

Candidates who successfully register for TNEA 2025 are allotted a random number which is then sent to the candidates through SMS. Candidates can also view their TNEA random numbers under their respective logins using their registered email ID and password. The random number is used for tie-breaking for TNEA rank list generation when all other tie-breaking criteria are exhausted. Q:   Is TNEA only for Tamil Nadu students?

A:

TNEA is open to other state candidates who have studied VIII, IX, X, XI and XII class in Tamil Nadu. Candidates who are 10+2 passed with minimum 45% marks are eligible to apply for TNEA under the Open competition category. The nativity conditions for TNEA 2025 are as follows:

  1. Tamil Nadu candidates who have passed VIII, IX, X, XI and XII standard. From schools situated in Tamil Nadu are eligible to apply. They need not produce Nativity Certificate for verification.
  2. Tamil Nadu native candidates who have passed any of the VIII, IX, X, XI and XII standard. Or their equivalent examination from schools situated outside Tamil Nadu can also apply. They should produce Original Nativity Certificate only in electronic form/digitally signed e-Certificate.
  3. Children of Central Government Employees may also apply for admission, irrespective of their native, provided their parents or guardians (only if both parents are not alive) have been serving in Tamil Nadu continuously for the past FIVE YEARS at the time of submission of application. This should be supported by producing a Certificate from the employer of the parent or guardian, to that effect.
  4. Children of employees in Public Sector or Government recognised Institutions who at the time of submission of application for admission employed in Tamil Nadu continuously for the past five years may also apply irrespective of their domicile. A Certificate from the employer stating that the person is a Permanent Employee of the Firm or Institution concerned with evidence like Income Tax return, PF Slips, etc. And is working in Tamil Nadu continuously for the past FIVE YEARS has to be produced.
  5. Sons and daughters of All India service Tamil Nadu cadre officers are eligible to apply. A Self declaration from the parent in this regard is to be produced.

Q:   What is the TNEA application fee?

A:

The application fee for TNEA 2025 is INR 500 for the general candidates and INR 250 for SC /SCA /ST category belonging to Tamil Nadu. The application fee can be paid using payment modes like Credit card/ Debit card/ Net banking/ Demand Draft. The application process includes the below steps:

  1. Registration: Provide the details asked and register for counselling
  2. Login: Candidates who register successfully are issued login details that include a username and password

  • Nationality: Only Indian nationals can apply for TNEA counselling 2025.
  • Nativity: Candidates of the following nativity can apply for TNEA counselling 2025:
Tamil Native Candidates

Tamil Nadu candidates who have passed VIII, IX, X, XI and XII standards from schools situated in Tamil Nadu are eligible to apply. They need not produce a Nativity Certificate for verification.

Tamil Nadu native candidates who have passed any of the VIII, IX, X, XI and XII Std. or their equivalent examination from schools situated outside Tamil Nadu can also apply. They should produce an Original Nativity Certificate only in electronic form/digitally signed e-Certificate.

Candidates who are Srilankan Tamil refugees studying in Tamil Nadu will be considered under open competition. They have to produce the following certificates:

  • Identification certificate from the Head Quarters Tahsildar.
  • Those who have not registered in the refugee camp should produce their original passport, visa and letter registered with the Police Station
Overseas Citizen of India Candidates

Candidates of Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) cardholders/Persons of Indian Origin(PIO) cardholders and Native of Tamil Nadu are permitted to participate in the Tamilnadu Engineering Counselling under the “Open Category”. This will not apply to the candidates of overseas citizen of India (OCI) cardholders/Persons of Indian Origin(PIO) cardholders who are born in a foreign country after 04.03.2021.

Qualifying Examinations and Eligibility: A pass in the HSC (Academic: both +1 and +2) or its equivalent with a minimum average percentage is given below:

  • General Category - 45%
  • Backward Class including Backward Class Muslim - 40%
  • MBC & DNC - 40%
  • SC/SCA/ST - 40%

OR

Candidates will be selected for admission on the basis of marks obtained in the prescribed subjects (Mathematics -100, Physics + Chemistry 100) reduced to 200 in the qualifying exam. Children of government employees whose parents have been serving the state for the past 5 years from the Day of application will also be eligible even if they are not domicile residents. On the registration page, candidates have to enter their name, email ID, password generation, nationality, nativity, religion, community, whether they have studied from 8th to 12th standard in Tamil Nadu or not, date of birth, mobile number, gender, qualifying number, the month of passing, year of passing.

An OTP will be sent to the candidate’s registered mobile number. After submitting the OTP and previewing the details, candidates have to click on the ‘register’ button. After registration, candidates will be sent their user ID in their registered mobile number.

 Note:

  • The name should be entered in the class 10th /12th mark sheet
  • Candidates have to enter his/her e-mail address for 'User ID'. If the candidate does not have an e-mail address, then an e-mail address has to be created and enter the same for the user ID. In case, they do not have an email and if not in a position to create one immediately, use their parents' email. This e-mail address shall be treated as the candidate’s login user ID and registered e-mail address to which all communications are sent
  • The mobile number entered here will be treated as your registered mobile number
  • The password should contain a minimum of 8 characters with which at least one capital, one numerical and one special character
  • Details entered here cannot be modified later, hence enter the details correctly before confirming
  • Candidates have to remember their User ID (e-mail address) and password because this will be used during the process of application, payment, choice entry and allotment

Step 2 - Login

After receiving the user id and password, candidates have to login using their ID and password to enter details in the application form.

Step 3 - Fill out the online application form

In the online application form candidates have to enter the following details:

  1. Personal details
  2. Special reservation information
  3. Scholarship information
  4. School of Study Information
  5. Academic Information

Step 4 - Preview/submit an application

The preview of the filled application form will be displayed and after checking for any mistakes, the candidates will have to submit it.

Step 5 - TNEA application fee payment

In this step, candidates have to pay the application fees through online mode only. The payment can be made through debit/net banking/credit card.

Step 6 - Printout of TNEA 2025 application form

After submitting academic details, candidates have to take a printout of the application form for further admission process. The printout must be kept safe until the admission process is over.

TNEA Application Form 2025: Certificate Upload

The registered candidates should upload their copies of the following original certificates. The instruction for uploading the certificates is given later after the registration process is completed.

  •  10th Mark Sheet
  • HSC First year (+1) Marksheet
  • HSC Second year (+2) / Equivalent Mark sheet
  • Transfer certificate
  • Registration Fee details
  • Details of Government school studied from Sixth to Twelfth standard for 7.5% Government School Students Reservation
  • Permanent Community Certificate for ST, SC, SCA, MBC & DNC, BC and BCM (either Permanent card or electronic form / digitally signed e-certificate)
  • Nativity Certificate (only in electronic form / digitally signed e-Certificate) (if applicable)
  • Income certificate (if applicable)
  • First Graduate Certificate (only in electronic form / digitally signed e-Certificate) and First Graduate Joint Declaration (if applicable)
  • Srilankan Tamil Refugee Certificate (if applicable)
  • Candidates who have applied for special reservation
    • Relevant certificates for Son / Daughter of Ex-servicemen with Parent’s discharge certificate and ID card
    • Differently abled persons should bring a Medical Certificate obtained from the Medical Board (Consisting of 3 Doctors)
    • Eminent sports persons should submit all sports achievement certificates with the necessary forms.

TNEA Random Number 2025 for Registered Candidates

To resolve ties in the TNEA merit list when other criteria are inconclusive, each applicant will be assigned a unique 10-digit random number known as the TNEA random number. If a tie persists, the candidate with the higher random number will be given priority. To view the TNEA 2025 Random Number List, candidates need to log in using their registration number and date of birth.

Q:   When will DoTE release the TNEA Random Number?

A:

TNEA 2025 Random Number will be out in June 2025. Registered candidates have to sign in by entering login Id/email Id and password to view their unique random number allotted by the authority. The conducting body also informs all the registered candidates about the assigned random number of TNEA 2025 through SMS. The random number will be a 10 digit number that will be allotted to the candidates randomly. Candidates have to verify their documents at TFCs as per their assigned TNEA random number.

How to check TNEA Random Number?

  1. On the official website of TNEA 2025
  2. Navigate to the candidate login page
  3. On the login page, enter your email ID/login ID, password, and captcha code
  4. The TNEA random number will be displayed on the screen
  5. View your random number and save it for future references.

TNEA 2025 Document Verification Process at the TFCs

The uploaded certificates are subjected to verification at the TFCs selected by the candidates in the online application form. The certificate uploading and verification procedure is intimated after the completion of the registration process.

While verifying the documents uploaded during TNEA 2025 registration, candidates have to follow the following steps:

  1. If the status shown is Incomplete, candidates have to scan all the required certificates as a single PDF file and upload it.
  2. After uploading they must freeze the upload and logout.
  3. If the status shown is 'upload not completed and the upload status is not started', scan all the certificates as a single PDF file and upload.
  4. After uploading freeze the upload and logout.
  5. If the status shown is 'In Progress', it indicates that certificate verification is under process.
  6. If the status shown is 'Completed successfully', then it indicates that Certificate verification is completed successfully for that Application.

Only those candidates whose certificates are verified successfully are included in the TNEA rank list and become eligible to participate in the TNEA counselling process.

Check below the steps on how to fill choices in TNEA 2025 counselling: Add/Remove Choices: Candidates have to choose carefully their preferences for getting a seat in a branch in an institution. Based on the availability of seats, rank, and community, candidates will be allotted. Candidates must prepare a list of choices in the order of preference to enter the choices in the order preference correctly and quickly. Choice Entry and Locking of Choices will be available for 3 days, 3rd day until 5.00 pm.
