Children of government employees whose parents have been serving the state for the past 5 years from the Day of application will also be eligible even if they are not domicile residents. The children of All India Service Tamil Nadu cadre officers will also be termed eligible for Admission.

Yes, a Diploma holder candidate can apply for the TNEA examination. However, they have to complete their three years of engineering Diploma after class 12th with 50% aggregate score to be eligible to do so. Also, it is mandatory for the candidate to have completed the 12th grade before appearing in the examination.

TNEA 2025 Eligibility Criteria for Different Branches
If a candidate is applying based on branch, he/she should meet the following criteria:
For the Marine engineering branch
- For the Marine Engineering Degree Programme, the candidate should have passed 10+2 or equivalent examinations with Physics (P), Chemistry (C), Mathematics (M) and English as a separate subject with an average of not less than 60 % in PCM
- A minimum of 50 % in English at the 10th or 12th standard is required for all the candidates
