Preparation of TNEA 2025 Merit List
TNEA 2025 merit list will be prepared based on the total mark of 200. The authority will reduce the total marks to 200 as the total marks to rank students. Maximum weightage will be from Mathematics. The rest will be shared by Physics and Chemistry as given below:
- Physics (50) + Chemistry (50) = 100
- Mathematics =100
As per the authority, the marks obtained by the students in the relevant subjects in the qualifying examination conducted by various boards or authorities shall be equated with the marks obtained by the students in the same subjects in the qualifying examination conducted by the State Board of Tamil Nadu by adopting the method of normalisation.
Q: Is AICTE Tuition Fee Waiver (TFW) scheme applicable in TNEA?
Inter-se-merit While Preparing the TNEA Rank List 2025
In cases where more than one candidate has got the same marks in the common merit list, the inter-se-merit among such candidates shall be determined in the order of priority as specified below.
- percentage of marks in Mathematics
- percentage of marks in Physics
- percentage of marks in the optional subject
- percentage of total marks in 12th Standard Examination
- date of birth (elder will be given preference)
- TNEA 2025 random number assigned (higher value will be given preference)
TNEA 2025 Normalization Method
-
If the highest mark secured by a student of the State Board of Tamil Nadu in Physics is 100 and the highest mark secured by a student of any other Board in the same subject is 90 both the highest marks will be considered to be equal to 100.
- If a student of the other board secures 60 marks in Physics when the first mark in Physics in the same board is 90, 60 marks will be considered to be equal to 66.66 marks as arrived below:
(100 X 60)/90 = 66.66% |
- After the normalisation of marks in the relevant subjects in the qualifying examination conducted by different Boards, the qualified students shall be merged into a common merit list
- Aspirants who have qualified from National Boards namely CBSE and ISCE, the highest mark obtained in the relevant subject by the candidates at the National Level alone will be taken into consideration for the TNEA 2025 normalisation process.
- Candidates from other Boards will have to submit the maximum marks scored in the relevant subjects.
- In case, marks are not available before the preparation of rank, the maximum marks secured in that board exams will be considered 100%.
