What is TNEA Random Number?
As the term suggests, a TNEA random number is a number which is randomly generated by the computer system against each registered candidate. Each random number assigned to the candidates is unique in nature. The purpose of the TNEA random number is to break the tie among the candidates when all other tie-breaking conditions fail. When all tie-breaking candidates cannot break the tie, the candidate with a higher value of the TNEA random number gets a higher rank.

TNEA 2025 Random Number for Tie-Breaking
The following conditions are applied to break ties in TNEA counselling:
- In case a tie exists between two or more candidates, the percentage of marks in Mathematics will be considered to break the tie.
- If the above fails, then the percentage of marks in Physics will be used.
- If the above two conditions do not neutralise the tie, then the percentage of marks in the optional subject will be used.
- If none of the above conditions break the tie, then the percentage of total marks in the 12th Standard examination will be considered.
- If the tie still exists, then the date of birth of the candidates will be considered. That is the elder candidate will be given preference.
- Lastly, if the tie is not broken by any of the above conditions, then the TNEA random number assigned will be used. The candidate with the higher value of random number will be given preference.
After TNEA 2025 Random Number Allotment
Upon the allocation of the TNEA random number to candidates, it is imperative that they securely record and retain this number for reference, despite it not being utilized in subsequent processes. All pertinent certificates will be subjected to online verification at the designated TFCs, with a specific provision for in-person verification catering to sportspersons in Chennai. Following the successful completion of this verification procedure, the merit list for TNEA 2025 will be published, comprising exclusively those candidates whose credentials have undergone validation.

The allocation of colleges and branches will be provisional and will occur solely through an online counselling mechanism, contingent upon candidates' preferences along with their overall and community rankings. Notifications regarding these processes will not be disseminated via traditional print media. One week will be allotted for addressing grievances related to the rank list, which necessitates in-person attendance. The Certificate uploading and verification procedure is intimated after the completion of the registration process.
