The Directorate of Technical Education (DoTE), Chennai will hold the TNEA 2025 counselling for admission of the 10+2 passed candidates to BE/BTech, BE (Sandwich) and MTech Computer Science and Engineering (Integrated) courses offered by the Government and Government Aided Engineering Colleges, University Departments and Constituent Colleges of Anna University, and Annamalai University. TNEA Counselling 2025: The candidates who register for Tamil Nadu Engineering Admissions (TNEA) and complete the document verification successfully, can participate in the TNEA counselling 2025. Only those candidates whose names appear in the TNEA rank list 2025, can participate in the counselling. The TNEA general counselling 2025 will start in July 2025. The counselling process will include online choice filling by the candidates, allotment of seats, seat allotment confirmation, downloading the provisional allotment letter and reporting to the allotted institute. To participate in the TNEA 2025 counselling process, candidates must visit the official website, tneaonine.org, and log in with their registered email ID and password. The TNEA counselling process is completely online and is a centralised process. The counselling starts with the choice filling process where the registered candidates submit their choices of colleges and courses for admission in order of preference. Q:   What is the last date to register for TNEA counselling?

A:

The Directorate of Technical Education, Tamil Nadu will start the B.Tech and B.Arch application process for TNEA 2025 in May 2025. The last date to apply for TNEA 2025 wwill be in June 2025 and the last date to complete document upload is a few days after that. TNEA 2025 counselling process includes registration, assignment of random numbers, Certificate verifications, rank list publication, and finally the counselling. The counselling rounds will include steps like Choice Filling, Allotment, Confirmation of Allotment, and Reporting to the College/TFC and payment of fees depending upon their confirmation. BE/B.Tech admission in Tamil Nadu is done based on the online counselling process called TNEA. There is no state-level entrance exam for admission in Tamil Nadu. Candidates have to register and appear for the online Tamil Nadu Engineering Admissions TNEA counselling held every year. 10+2 passed/appearing candidates can apply for TNEA counselling. Admission will be based on marks obtained by the candidates in the relevant subjects, namely, Maths Physics and Chemistry which will be reduced to 200 Maths 100, Physics 50 and Chemistry 50).

Q:   When will the counselling dates be announced for TNEA?

The TNEA 2025 dates are not out yet. Directorate of Technical Education, Tamil Nadu will start the application process for TNEA 2025. The full schedule can be checked on the official website. Q:   Where do I apply for TNEA counselling?

A:

You have to apply on the official TNEA website. Engineering colleges in the state of Tamil Nadu offer admission based on the results of the Tamil Nadu Engineering Admissions TNEA exam.

  1. The Tamil Nadu Directorate of Technical Education is in charge of conducting this exam. Following the exam, seats are assigned in engineering colleges through the TNEA counselling process.
  2. After the results are released, you must register on the official TNEA website in order to take part in TNEA counselling.
  3. On the TNEA website, you have to fill out the application form, pay the counselling fees, and list your choices. 4. After the application process is finished, the TNEA will publish a list of seats allocated according to ranks.

TNEA Counselling Process 2025

After the certificate verification process is complete, candidates can move forward to the counselling phase. The counselling will be conducted online in multiple rounds according to the established schedule. Applicants will be organized based on their ranks, and each group will participate in the counselling according to their assigned turn.   1. Choice Filling: Candidates must list their preferred colleges and branches in order of preference. The sequence of choices is crucial, and candidates can select as many choices as they wish.
  2. Seat Allotment: Seats will be allocated based on the order of the candidates' choices, their rank, community, and the availability of seats.
  3. Confirmation of Allotment: Candidates who are allotted seats must confirm their acceptance within the specified timeframe.
  4. Download Provisional Allotment and Report to College/TFC: After confirming their seats, candidates need to download the provisional allotment letter and then visit the allotted college or TFC to complete the admission process.

TNEA Counselling 2025 Choice Filling

TNEA counselling process starts with choice filling. The candidates whose names appear in the TNEA rank list 2025 can login to the TNEA official website to participate in the choice filling process.

The steps to fill choices in TNEA counselling 2025 are given below:

Step 1 - Login: Candidates must login with their registered email ID and password. Under the login candidates can check various details and click on the link that says “open choice filling page”.

Q:   While applying for TNEA counselling, who are considered the natives of the Tamil Nadu state?

A:

The following candidates are considered the native of Tamil Nadu state:

  • Tamil Nadu candidates who have passed their Class VIII to Class XII standard in Tamil Nadu.
  • Children of Central Government Employees, irrespective of their nativity, provided their parents or guardians (only if both parents are not alive) have been serving in Tamil Nadu continuously for the past five years at the time of TNEA application form submission.
  • Sons/daughters of All India Service Tamil Nadu cadre officers. Children of employees in the Public Sector or Government recognised institutions who at the time of TNEA 2025 application form submission had been working in their organisations for the past five years are also eligible to apply, irrespective of their domicile.
  • Other state candidates who have studied from Class VIII to Class XII in Tamil Nadu can also apply for TNEA 2025.
  • Tamil Nadu native candidates who have passed any of the VIII, IX, X, XI and XII standards or their equivalent examinations from schools situated outside Tamil Nadu can also apply for TNEA.

Q:   How many candidates are given allotments via TNEA counselling process?

A:

In TNEA counselling 2024, the number of candidates who got allotments in all the three counselling rounds are as follows:

  • Government: 12915
  • General: 108780
  • Total: 121695

Q:   I have uploaded my first graduate Certificate wrongly. Will it affect my TNEA counselling process?

A:
Hello Vishal, First graduate is not an essential Certificate to participate in TNEA counselling. If you are a first graduate and if you want reduction in the college fee, then only you can submit the first graduate. Otherwise, if you don't provide First graduate Certificate you won't get the fee reduction. You can also provide the first graduate Certificate during the second year in the respective college to get the fee reduction.

Q:   My cutoff is 172.93 where can I get admission B.Tech CSE in TNEA counselling?

A:
Based on your cutoff of 172.93, you have a chance to get admission in some of the reputed engineering colleges offering B.Tech CSE in TNEA counselling. However, admission to any college depends primarily on the availability of seats, competition from other applicants, and reservation criteria for different categories. Here are some of the colleges you can consider applying to: 1. PSG College of Technology 2. SSN College of Engineering 3. Thiagarajar College of Engineering 4. Coimbatore Institute of Technology 5. Kumaraguru College of Technology 6. Sri Sairam Engineering College 7. St. Joseph's College of Engineering. Please note that this list is not exhaustive and you can explore other options as well. It is also important to keep in mind that securing admission in these colleges depends on various factors, and you should do thorough research on each college before finalizing your choice.

Step 2 - Read instructions: A set of instructions will appear on the screen, please read them carefully and abide by them.

Step 3 - Fill choices: After reading the instructions, candidates can fill college name, college code, branch name, district and category. Candidates can fill as many choices of colleges and courses as they want.

Step 4 - Arrange/add the choices: Once the choices are filled, candidates can check the list of choices they have selected. Candidates can change the choices, add or change the order of the choices if they want to. The choice list will display the college code, choice order, college name, branch name, and seat availability. To change the order of choices, candidates can simply drag the rows. The changes made to the list will be autosaved and candidates are not required to save the changes manually. 

Step 5 - Locking and downloading the choice list: Note that candidates have to complete the choice filling as per the deadline. Candidates will be allowed to lock the choices only three times. Choice lock OTP will be sent to the registered mobile number of the candidates each time the candidate locks the choice. Once the candidates are satisfied with their choices and their order, they can lock the choices and doenload the list.

TNEA Counselling 2025 Choice Filling Instructions

Check some important instructions about the TNEA choice filling process 2025 below:

  1. There will be no limit on the number of courses you can select, please make as many choices as possible to get the better allotment.
  2. You can't select a course from a college that has zero seats available in your community and in the OC category, For SCA candidates, you are allowed to select a choice from the SC community just in case there is no seat available in the OC or SCA community for the respective course.
  3. Selected choices can be rearranged according to your preference from the reorder list, please make sure your preference of choices is in the order you need this order is important while we allot the seat
  4. College list can be filtered by College name, College code, Branch, District or Category.
  5. Once your choice selections are finalised, please make sure you lock the choice selection. When you click on lack choice, you will receive an OTP (one-time password) to your registered mobile number and email, confirm the OTP and lock the choice. Once choices are locked you can not modify them, so make sure you lock them after you complete the choice selection and reorder them according to your preferences. If you miss locking the choices, they will be auto-locked at the end of the timeline provided by DoTE.
  6. Each selection of course and reorder is auto-saved, no explicit save is required.
  7. Choice lock OTP will be sent only a maximum of 3 times, kindly request candidates not to play around with the lock choice screen. If you exceed 3 times you will not be able to lock the choice, it will be auto-locked at the end of the deadline given by us.
  8. When the download PDF is clicked, DoTE will fetch the choice selection and choice lock status from the server to get the latest copy, there may be a chance that the server copy might not match your browser, this might be due to network issues that the server was not updated with the latest version, in such cases request you to reload the page and fix the selection and selection order. TNEA 2025 Seat Allotment Result

After the choice filling window closes, DoTE will allot seats to the candidates based on the choices of the candidates, their TNEA rank and their category. The seat allotment result will be displayed on the official website under the respective logins of the candidates. 

The initial seat allotment will be tentative. Candidates can check the below given details in the tentative seat allotment result:

  1. Name of the candidate
  2. Community
  3. General rank
  4. Community rank
  5. Application ID
  6. Allotted community
  7. Branch name
  8. College name

The candidates who will get the tentative allotment will have to confirm the seat. They can select the below options against the allotted seat:

  1. Accept and Join
  2. Accept and Upward
  3. Decline and Upward
  4. Decline and Move to the Next Round
  5. Decline and Quit
  6. Upward or Move to the Next Round

TNEA Counselling 2025: Seat Confirmation

When a candidate receives a seat allocation in the TNEA 2025 counselling process, they have several options to confirm their seat. They must choose one of the following options within the specified time frame. Failure to confirm will result in their move to the next round. The available options are:

  1. Accept and Join: If the candidate is satisfied with the allocated seat, they should retrieve the provisional allotment order and report to the college on the designated date for admission. If the candidate fails to report, the seat will be forfeited, and they will not be eligible for subsequent rounds.
  2. Accept and Upward: If the candidate is happy with the seat but prefers to wait for a potentially better option in the upcoming upward movement, they can choose this option. For example, if they are allocated their 5th choice, they may wait for their 1st through 4th choices. If no better options are available, they will retain their previously allotted seat.
  3. Decline and Upward: If the candidate is not satisfied with the allocated seat and wants to decline it while waiting for a better option in the upward movement, they can select this choice. If a preferred seat does not become available, they will be moved to the next round.
  4. Decline and Move to Next Round: If the candidate is dissatisfied with the seat and prefers not to wait for upward movement, they can decline the seat and opt to participate in the next round of counselling.
  5. Decline and Quit: If the candidate does not want the allotted seat and does not wish to participate in any further rounds, they can select this option.
  6. Upward or Move to Next Round: If no seat is allotted based on the candidate’s choices, this option will be available. Candidates can opt for upward movement, and if a seat becomes available during this process, it will be allotted. If no seat is available, the candidate will proceed to the next round.

TNEA 2025 Counselling Cutoff

TNEA cut-off 2024 is released by the Directorate of Technical Education (DoTE). The authority releases TNEA 2024 community-wise cutoffs for all the candidates. TNEA cut-off score is the minimum mark that candidates have to secure to be eligible for admission to BTech courses. Eligible candidates for TNEA 2024 are called seat allotment based on TNEA 2024 cut-off marks and availability of seats in the TNEA participating colleges. The TNEA 2024 cut-off admission scores will also be released after each round of counselling on the official website. TNEA cutoffs are different for all the categories depending on various exam factors. 

TNEA 2025 Counselling Provisional Admission Order Download

The candidates who confirm the tentative allotment can proceed to download the provisional allotment order. The candidates need to download the provisional allotment order by logging into their TNEA counselling candidate portal using the TNEA registered email ID and password.

TNEA Counselling 2024 Reporting for Admission

If a candidate accepts their assigned seat and chooses the "Accept and Upward" option, they will be given a provisional allocation order. They must visit the nearest TFC, complete the payment of the tuition fees, and submit their original certificates to secure their current seat. Failure to report or pay the fees will be interpreted as a lack of willingness to join, leading to the cancellation of their allocation. Consequently, they will forfeit their allocated seat and will not be considered for further rounds of TNEA 2025 counselling.
