CDS Result 2025: The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) will release the CDS 1 2025 result on the official website. The result of CDS 2025 will be declared roll number-wise and then name-wise. 

UPSC CDS is one of the most sought-after career options after graduation for aspirants who want to join the defence sector-Army, Navy and Air Force. After clearing the written exam and SSB interview, candidates will secure admission to the prestigious Indian Military Academy (IMA), Indian Naval Academy (INA), Air Force Academy (AFA), and Officers' Training Academy (OTA). To get admission to the Indian Armed Forces academies, the candidates have to secure the CDS cut off marks which the UPSC releases after analysing the marks secured by the candidates. The candidates can check their expected scores by analysing the CDS answer key released by the coaching institutes. However, the final answer key is released by the UPSC after the recruitment of the candidates in the academy. The candidates can access the UPSC CDS result PDF on the official website-upsc.gov.in. Q:   When will CDS 1 result 2025 be released?

The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) will conduct the CDS 2 exam 2025 on April 13, 2025, at various centres across the country. The CDS 1 2025 result will be released after the conduction of an exam on the official website. Candidates who will appear for the CDS 1 exam in 2025 will be able to check their result. CDS Result 2024 Released

The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) released the CDS 1 Final Result 2024 on October 21, 2024 on the official website. The CDS 1 result 2024 was released on July 31, 2024.  According to the CDS 1 2024 final result, 237 candidates were declared qualified and finally shortlisted for admission to the 158th (DE) Course of Indian Military Academy, Dehradun, Indian Naval Academy, Ezhimala, Kerala and Air Force Academy, Hyderabad (Pre-Flying) Training Course i.e. No. 217 F(P) Course. Candidates can check below through the direct link shared below. The authority also released the CDS 2 result 2024 that is the name-wise list of qualified candidates for the exam conducted on September 1, 2024. The the CDS 2 result 2024 was released  on Sepember 20, 2024.The UPSC CDS result PDF comprises the roll numbers of the candidates who qualified for the written exam. Based on the CDS 2 name-wise results, 8,796 candidates have qualified for interviews by the Service Selection Board (SSB) of the Ministry of Defence.

UPSC CDS Previous Years Cut off

For selection to the IMA, INA, AFA and OTA, candidates need to qualify for the minimum qualifying marks separately in the written exam and SSB Interview prescribed by the examination authority. CDS Result: Score Calculation Process

The scores of candidates are calculated as per the process given below:

  • For the correct answer in each section of the test, candidates score one mark
  • For incorrect response, 1/3 marks are deducted
  • In case candidates mark more than one option in the test that will be treated as the wrong answer
  • The total score is calculated based on the number of correct and incorrect answers

CDS Marksheet 2025

The marks obtained by the qualified candidates are displayed after the declaration of the final result and CDS final answer key. The scorecard includes the candidate’s roll number, date of birth, name, total marks obtained in the written exam and SSB Interview, and final total marks.

However, keeping with the decision of the Government of India (Department of Personnel & Training) regarding the display of scores of candidates who appeared for the SSB Interview but did not qualify, the commission releases the same which remains valid for one year. The details include the candidate’s name, father’s/husband’s name, date of birth, category, gender, educational qualification, total marks, etc.

Q:   What are the psychological tests in the SSB interview?

A:
The psychological tests in the SSB interview are designed to assess the candidate's personality, attitude, and mental abilities. The tests include: a) TAT (Thematic Perception Test): The TAT is a projective test where the candidate is shown a series of pictures and is asked to write a story based on each picture. The stories are then analysed to assess the candidate's personality traits such as leadership, initiative, motivation, and social skills. B) Word Association Test (What): In the What, the candidate is shown a series of words, one at a time, and is asked to write the first thought that comes to mind in response to each word. The responses to each word. The responses are then analysed to assess the personality traits such as creativity, emotional stability, and thinking patterns.

Q:   What is the difference between CDS result and SSB interview?

A:
CDSE (Combined Defence Services Examination) is a written exam conducted by UPSC for the recruitment to the IMA, INA, AFA, and OTA. The written exam is followed by an interview by the Service Selection Board (SSB). The SSB interview is a five day long personality and intelligence assessment test conducted by the SSB for candidates who have qualified in the written exam. The SSB interview is conducted in two stages and includes various tests such as psychological tests, group tasks, Personal Interview and outdoor activities. The main objective of the SSB interview is to assess the suitability of the candidate for a career in a defence forces. CDS Result: Preparation of Merit List

The merit list is prepared in the following manner:

  • UPSC prepares a list of candidates who get the minimum qualifying marks in the written exam decided by the commission
  • Candidates declared successful in the written exam are called for an intelligence and personality test
  • Candidates need to secure separate qualifying marks in the written exam and SSB Interview
  • The final merit list is prepared based on the total marks secured in the written exam and SSB Interview
  • The final selection is done based on their merit subjected to medical fitness and the number of vacancies

CDS Public Disclosure of Scores

Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) discloses the marks and other details of non-recommended candidates. The marks are released as per the willingness of candidates. CDS marks are available in PDF form and comprise details such as name, father’s name, date of birth, community, gender, educational qualifications, total marks, complete address, and email ID. The scores and other details of non-qualified under the disclosure scheme are released out of 600 marks for IMA, INA, and AFA and 400 marks for OTA.

Q:   What is the SSB in CDS, and AFCAT exam?

A:
Both the Air Force Common Admission Test and the combined defense services are conducted to select suitable candidates for training in the academies for the post of commissioned officer in the Indian Armed Forces. While the complete AFCAT procedure is conducted by the Air Force and the CDS exam is conducted by UPSC The SSB for both exams is conducted by respective SSB boards. Selected students go through the SSB interview, and those who are recommended by the Services Selection Board undergo a medical examination. Only students declared medically fit are issued joining letters, subject to their rank in the final merit list calculated on the basis of the aggregate mark in written and SSB interviews.

Q:   In how many stages SSB interview for CDS exam is conducted?

The SSB (Services Selection Board) interview for the CDS (Combined Defence Services) exam is conducted in two stages: Stage 1: The first stage of the SSB interview consists of Officer Intelligence Rating (OIR) Tests and Picture Perception and Description Test (PPDT). The OIR tests are conducted to assess the candidate's verbal and non-verbal intelligence, while the PPDT is a test of the candidate's ability to perceive and describe a given picture. Candidates who clear the Stage 1 are selected for Stage 2. Stage 2: The second stage of the SSB interview consists of a series of tests, including Psychological Tests, Group Testing Officers (GTO) Tasks, and Personal Interview . The psychological tests include tests such as Thematic Perception Test (TAT), Word Association Test (What), and Situation Reaction Test (SRT). The GTO tasks include group discussion, group planning exercise, and outdoor group tasks. The Personal Interview is conducted by a board of officers to assess the candidate's personality and suitability for the respective defense service. The SSB interview is conducted over a period of five days, and each test carries a certain weightage in the final selection process. Candidates are required to perform well in all the tests to increase their chances of selection. Therefore, candidates who clear the CDS written exam should prepare well for the SSB interview and perform their best in all the stages of the interview to increase their chances of selection for admission to the respective defense academies.

Q:   What are the exam dates for CDS 2025 exam?

The Union Public Service Commission released the exam calendar for the year 2025. According to the UPSC CDS calendar the CDS 1 2025 application form and the notification have been released on December 11, 2024 and continued till December 31, 2024 (6 PM). The CDS 1 exam will be conducted on April 13, 2025. On the other hand the CDS 2 exam application and notification will be released on May 28, 2025. The application remained active till June 17, 2025. However, the exam for the CDS 2 2025 will be conducted on September 14, 2025.

The candidates must be aware that these dates are released by UPSC through exam calendar. There are slight chances that the exam dates get changed due to any circumstance. However, the candidates must prepare for the CDS exams according to these exam dates.

The highest rank attainable through CDs is the rank of general which is a 4-stared officer position.

it is a general in the army, Admiral in the Navy and  Air Chief Marshal in the Air Force.

The CDS 1 application form 2025 will be available from December 11 to 31, 2024. The CDS 1 2025 exam will be conducted on April 13, 2025. CDS 2 notification will be released in May 2025, the last date for application will be 17th June 2025 and the exam will be conducted on 14, September 2025.
