Institute of Banking Personnel Selection (IBPS) conducts IBPS RRB exam for recruitment to the Regional Rural Banks (RRBs) or Gramin Banks. IBPS organises the RRB CWE Exam every year for the recruitment to the posts of Officers Scale 1, 2, 3 and Office Assistant. The exam is conducted online. IBPS is fully responsible for conducting RRB Common Written Exam (CWE). For the post of Office Assistant (Multipurpose) the examination is conducted in two phases i.e.  preliminary and mains. For the post of Officers Scale 1, the exam is conducted in three phases-prelims , mains and interview. For the post of Officers Scale 2 and 3, the exam is conducted in two phases single online exam and interview. In recent years, the level of competition for IBPS RRB exams has spurt exponentially. Q:   What is the process for IBPS RRB provisional allotment?

A:

The total marks allotted for Interview are 100. Minimum qualifying marks in interview is not less than 40 per cent (35 per cent for SC/ST/OBC/PwBD candidates). The relative weightage given to the Mains exam and Interview for the provisional allotment is 80:20 respectively for the Officers cadre. The combined final score of candidates is arrived at on the basis of scores obtained by the Mains for the post of Officers Scale I and in the Single Level Examination for the post of Officers Scale II and III and Interview. Interview score of the candidates failing to secure minimum qualifying marks or otherwise barred from the interview or further process is not disclosed. Candidates should qualify both in the Mains exam and interview and be sufficiently high in the merit to be shortlisted for subsequent provisional allotment process. The provisional allotment is done based on merit-cum-preference. For Officers in Scale I and Office Assistant (Multipurpose), the provisional allotment is restricted within the RRBs of the State opted for.

In the event of two or more candidates having obtained the same score, merit order is decided as per date of birth (the candidate senior in age is placed before/ above the candidate junior in age), as per the prevailing practice

The eligibility criteria of IBPS RRB in terms of age and educational qualification are given below:

IBPS RRB Exam Pattern

IBPS RRB exam is conducted online. IBPS RRB exam pattern is different for prelims and mains exam. Each paper will have objective type multiple-choice questions. The language of question paper is set in both English and Hindi. There is also negative marking for wrong answers. For each incorrect answer, 0.25 marks are deducted. The standard of IBPS RRB syllabus is of graduation level.

  • Verbal and Non-Verbal Reasoning: Questions are asked based on verbal and non-verbal patterns, series, analogies, etc.
  • Puzzles: Different types of puzzles are asked in the exam such as seating arrangement, floor puzzles, box-based puzzles, etc.
  • Seating Arrangements: Linear, Circular, or Rectangular seating arrangements.
  • Syllogism: Questions are asked based on deductive reasoning using statements and conclusions.

Q:   What is IBPS RRB marking scheme?

A:

Scores obtained by candidates in IBPS RRB exam are calculated based on the marking scheme. The marking scheme is prescribed by the examination authority. IBPS RRB marking scheme is given below:

Preliminary Exam:
  • Each correct answer typically carries 1 mark
  • For every incorrect answer, there is a penalty of 0.25 marks (1/4th of the mark assigned to that question)
  • Unanswered questions do not attract any penalty

Main Exam

  • The marking scheme for the main exam is generally similar to the preliminary exam, where each correct answer is awarded 1 mark.
  • There is typically a penalty for wrong answers, which is around 0.25 marks (1/4th of the mark assigned to that question)
  • There are no negative marking for unanswered questions
