INET (Indian Navy Entrance Test) 2023 notification will be released soon. Along with the notification, the application form will also be made available.The application fee is INR 215 for unreserved/OBC candidates while women candidates and SC/ST candidates are exempted from fee payment. INET notification is released to recruit eligible male and female candidates for the courses commencing at Indian Naval Academy (INA), Ezhimala. Candidates qualifying the INET exam are called for SSB interview. SSB interview is conducted at Bangalore / Bhopal/ Visakhapatnam/Kolkata. The final merit list of all candidates is prepared based on INET scores and SSB interview. What is INET?

Indian Navy is one of the most prestigious naval forces in the world, responsible for safeguarding our country above and below the surface of the ocean. Indian Navy Entrance Test or INET is a national-level entrance exam conducted for selection of Officers in various branches/entries of Indian Navy such as Executive, Educational and Technical. Selected candidates are granted Permanent Commission (PC) and Short Service Commission (SSC) and undergo training at the Indian Naval Academy (INA) Ezhimala, Kerala. The exam is conducted twice a year and is open for unmarried male and female candidates.

INET Notification 2023

INET notification is released to invite candidates for short service commission/permanent service commission officers in executive, technical, and education branches. Selected candidates undergo training at the Indian Naval Academy (INA), Ezhimala. The notification carries all important information related to the exam such as important dates, selection process, vacancies, exam pattern, syllabus and many more.

INET Eligibility Criteria 2023

The eligibility criteria for INET are different for different posts. For some posts, both male and female candidates can apply. While some posts are open for only female or male candidates. INET eligibility criteria for different posts under executive, technical, and education branches are given below.

Medical Standards: All candidates recommended by SSB will have to undergo a medical test. There is no relaxation in medical standards on any ground.

Relaxation in height and weight: Relaxation in height and weight is given to candidates holding domicile of specific regions.

INET Selection Process

The complete selection process of INET is explained below:

INET Application Form

INET application form is released online. Candidates fulfilling the eligibility criteria are required to submit their application forms through the official website joinindianavy.gov.in. The application fee is INR 215 while female/SC/ST candidates are exempted from fee payment. The application fee can be paid online.

Shortlisting of Application Form

The shortlisting of the application form is based on the preference of entries/branches and the normalised marks obtained by the candidates in graduation.

INET Admit Card

INET admit card is issued to candidates one or two weeks before the exam. Candidates who successfully fill the application form can download the admit card online from the official website. To download INET 2022 admit card, candidates need to key in their email address and password. 

Appearing INET Exam

INET exam is conducted for two hours. The exam contains 100 objective-type multiple-choice questions from English, Reasoning & Numerical Ability, General Science, Mathematical Aptitude & General Knowledge. Each section carries 100 marks with a negative marking of one mark for incorrect answers. On the basis of INET rank-cum-preference and choice, approximately 8000 candidates are shortlisted for the SSB interview. 

Declaration of INET Result

INET result is announced online on the official website. Candidates need to login with email address and password to check the result. 

SSB Interview

The SSB Interview is conducted in two stages. Candidates who clear Stage 1 are called for Stage 2. Those who fail in Stage 1 is sent back on the same date.

Medical Test

Candidates recommended for SSB are required to undergo a medical examination. Candidates for Pilot entry are required to undergo PABT (Pilot aptitude battery test) followed by Aviation medical examination.

Merit List and Appointment Letter

Merit list is prepared based on the combined marks of INET and SSB interview. Candidates recommended by the SSB and declared medically fit will be appointed for training as per all India merit of each branch/cadre based on the availability of the number of vacancies in various branches/cadres.

INET Exam Centres

INET exam is conducted across the designated cities determined by the Indian Navy. The SSB interview is conducted at Bangalore/Bhopal/Visakhapatnam/Kolkata. Candidates can select INET exam centres while filling the application form.

Reasoning and Numerical Ability: Spatial, Numerical, Reasoning and Associative Ability, Sequences, Spellings, Unscrambling, Coding and Decoding, Missing Numbers / Series Completion, Decimal Fraction, Ratios and Proportion, Average and Volume, Time and Work, Speed and Distance, Market Price, Cash Price, Expenditure Problems, Profit and Loss, Percentage, Factoring (LCM and HCF), Simple Interest and Compound Interest, Mensuration Formulas (Calculation of length, breadth or height of square, rectangle, cube etc).

General Science and Mathematical Aptitude: Nature of Matter, Universe, Electricity and its Applications, Force and Gravitation, Newton’s Laws of Motion, Work, Energy and Power, Heat, Temperature, Light, Current, Magnetism, Metals and Non Metals, Measurements, Sound and Wave Motion, Atomic Structure, Chemistry – Carbon and its Compounds, Periodic Table, Acids, Bases & Salts, Food, Nutrition and Health Physiology and Human Diseases and Basic Computer Science Arithmetic Ability, Number Systems, Algebra, Basic Trigonometry, Geometry, Statistics, Probability and Set Theory. 

General Knowledge: History of India, Geography, Climate / Environment, Civics-Constitution of India, Art, Culture, Dance, Heritage, Religion, Freedom Movement, Important National Facts, Economics, Politics, Sports and Championships, Entertainment, Books and Authors, Awards, Defence and Wars, Geographical Neighbours, Countries-Languages, Capitals, Currencies, Common Name, Full Forms, Abbreviations, Eminent Personalities, National – Bird/ Animal/ Monuments/ Flower/ Anthem/ Sport/ Flag/ Emblem etc, Discoveries and Current Affairs.

INET Exam Pattern

INET exam pattern is such that it is divided into four sections such as English, Reasoning & Numerical Ability, General Science, Mathematical Aptitude & General Knowledge. The exam is conducted in computer based mode. Candidates need to pass in all four sections separately with minimum 40 per cent marks. The duration of the test is two hours. The total marks allotted to the test are 400 (each section will be for 100 marks).

The tips and tricks to crack INET exam are given below:

  • First candidates must focus on understanding the exam pattern to know the overall structure of the exam
  • After going through the exam pattern, candidates must check the syllabus to know which topics that they need to cover for the exam
  • Candidates also need to figure out the weightages given to each topics and focus on those topics accordingly

INET Admit Card

INET admit card is issued to candidates one or two weeks before the exam. To download the admit card, candidates need to key in their email address and password. The hard copy of the admit card is not sent to candidates by post. INET admit card contains information related to date, time and address of exam centre. Candidates need to carry the admit card along with one photo-identity proof to the exam centre. 

INET Result 2023

INET result is declared online. Candidates need to login with an email address and password to check the result. On the basis of result of INET, candidates are selected for SSB. The final merit list is based on the combined marks of INET (50 per cent weightage) & SSB (50 per cent weightage).

INET Cutoff 2023

INET cutoff is the minimum qualifying marks that candidates need to secure to qualify the exam and become eligible for the next round of selection process. Separate cutoff marks are released for different posts and sections. Candidates need to secure both the minimum qualifying cutoff as well as the overall cutoff.
