RBI Assistants are entitled to the starting basic pay of INR 20,700 per month as per the new salary structure. Over time, the pay increases as candidates gain experience. RBI Assistant pay scale is INR 20,700-1,200 (for 3 years)-INR 24,300-1,440 (for 4 years)-INR 30,060-1,920 (for 6 years)-INR 41,580-2,080 (for 2 years)-INR 45,740-2,370 (for 3 years) – INR 52,850 – 2,850 – INR 55,700 (after 20 years). In addition to your basic pay, the total gross RBI Assistant salary will be around INR 45,050 per month. This includes various allowances such as Dearness Allowance, House Rent Allowance, City Compensatory Allowance, and Transport Allowance. Candidates who do not stay in RBI Apartments receive a 15 per cent house allowance on top of their pay.

After selection as RBI Assistant, candidates get the initial posting in the RBI officers within the recruitment zone they have applied. The selection process includes preliminary and Mains exams followed by a Language Proficiency Test (LPT). The prelims exam is divided into three sections English Language, Numerical Ability and Reasoning Ability. The total marks allotted to the test are 100. The total duration of the preliminary exam is 60 minutes. The Mains exam carries questions from Test of Reasoning, Test of English Language, Test of Numerical Ability, Test of General Awareness and Test of Computer Knowledge. A total of 950 vacancies were announced for RBI Assistant recruitment exam in 2022. Out of the total vacancies, 440 were for General category, 146 were for OBC, 151 were for SC and 123 for ST.
