SSC CHSL Syllabus for Tier 1 and Tier 2 is separately mentioned in the official notification. The Staff Selection Commission will mention the SSC CHSL Syllabus 2025 in the official notification. The Commission will release the SSC CHSL notification 2025 pdf on May 27, 2025. The candidates should start SSC CHSL preparation based on the syllabus mentioned here. The candidates should also read the SSC CHSL exam pattern and practice with the previous year question papers to achieve success in the exam. As per the official exam calendar, the SSC CHSL exam 2025 will be conducted in July/August 2025.

In both SSC CHSL Tier 1 and Tier 2 exams, questions are asked from the following sections- English, General Intelligence, Quantitative Aptitude and General Awareness. Q:   What is Tier 1 subject for SSC CHSL?

The SSC CHSL Tier 1 exam consists of four subjects:

  • General Intelligence & Reasoning: This section tests your analytical abilities, problem-solving skills, and logical thinking. It may include questions on analogies, syllogisms, series completion, coding-decoding, blood relations, and more.
  • Quantitative Aptitude: This section assesses your basic mathematical skills and your ability to handle numerical data. It covers topics like arithmetic operations (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division), percentages, averages, ratio & proportion, algebra, geometry, and basic trigonometry.
  • English Language: This section evaluates your understanding of the English language. It may include questions on grammar, vocabulary, comprehension, synonyms & antonyms, sentence completion, error spotting, and para jumbles.
  • General Awareness: This section tests your knowledge of current affairs, history, geography, civics, science, economics, and other general knowledge topics relevant to India.

In Tier 1 of the SSC CHSL exam, a total of 100 questions are asked. As per the official notification, the SSC CHSL Tier 1 is divided into four sections- English Language, General Intelligence, Quantitative Aptitude and General Awareness. Each section contains 25 MCQs of 2 marks each. Therefore, each section is of 50 marks.

SSC CHSL Tier 1 exam holds a total weightage of 200 marks. As per the SSC CHSL exam pattern, the Tier 1 has 100 questions, 25 MCQs from each of the four subjects/sections - English, General Awareness, Quantitative Aptitude, and General Intelligence and Reasoning. There is a negative marking of 0.50 marks for each wrong answers given by candidates.

SSC CHSL Tier 2 Exam Pattern 2024

Have a look at the SSC CHSL Tier 2 exam pattern 2024 below. Tier 2 will be conducted in two sessions - Session 1 & Session 2, on the same day. Session 1 will include Section 1, Section 2 and Module 1 of Section 3. Session 2 will consist of Module 2 of Section 3.
Tier 2 consists of three sections having two modules each:

  • Module 1: Mathematical Abilities

Section 2

  • Module 1: English Language and Comprehension
  • Module 2: General Awareness

Section-3

It will be mandatory for the candidates to qualify for all the sections of Tier 2. The SSC CHSL Tier 2 will consist of objective-type multiple-choice questions, except for Module 2 of Section 3. The questions will be set in English and Hindi except for Module 2 (i.e. English Language and Comprehension module) in Section 2. There will be a negative marking of 1 mark for each wrong answer in Section 1, Section 2 and Module 1 of Section 3.

SSC CHSL Selection Process 2024

The SSC CHSL 2024 exam is conducted in two tiers: Tier 1 (objective test), and Tier 2 (Objective Multiple Choice + Skill Test & Typing Test). The Staff Selection Commission (SSC) mentions the topics in the official CHSL syllabus, but the commission does not explain the difficulty level of every topic. General Awareness

Questions in this section test the candidate’s general awareness of the environment around him/her and its application to society. Questions also test the candidate’s knowledge of current events and of such matters of everyday observation and experience in their scientific aspect as may be expected of an educated person. The exam also includes questions related to India and its neighbouring countries, especially pertaining to History, Culture, Geography, Economic Scene, General policy and scientific research.
