Social Work admission 2025 will be based on both merit and entrance exams. The  Social Work degree offers students in-depth knowledge in the field of community service and welfare practices. 

Social Work courses can be pursued as regular, full-time degrees, distance/correspondence courses, and online degrees. Social Work courses can be pursued at the Certificate and Diploma, Undergraduate (Bachelor of Social Work Courses), Post-Graduate(Master of Social Work Courses), and Doctoral (PhD in Social Work Courses)  levels. 

The Social Work eligibility criteria for admission can vary depending on colleges and the course level. However, the minimum eligibility is to pass Class 12 from any stream and subjects with a minimum of 45% aggregate score.

Social Work Admission Procedure 2025

Social Work admission process will differ from college to college, but here is a general overview of the steps that a student will have to follow to get admitted to Social Work courses:

  • Eligibility: Complete class 12 from a recognized board with at least a 50% aggregate. Check other eligibility and make sure you meet the minimum eligibility criteria. Students wishing to pursue Social Work postgraduate degrees must complete their undergraduate with at least a 45% aggregate. Students aspiring to a Ph.D Social Work degree must complete their UG and PG from recognized institutes. 
  • Entrance Exams (if required): Appear for national/state-level Social Work entrance exams.

  • Counseling: Participate in counseling based on entrance exam scores or merit. Some institutes also conduct personal interviews and group discussion rounds as a part of their selection process.

Social Work Course Admission Eligibility Criteria

The eligibility criteria for pursuing Social Work courses depends on the course level at which they are being pursued. Colleges may admit students onnmerit basis or through entrance exam scores. 

A student who has passed class 12th from a recognized board can pursue a Social Work course at the certificate, diploma, and UG levels.
