National Law University, (NLU) Delhi, included among one of the most prestigious law universities in India. Apart from NLU Delhi, there are 22 National Law Universities (NLUs) in India. NLU Delhi offers law courses i.e. five-year Intergrated BA LLB (Hons.) course at the undergraduate level, One-year LLM course at the postgraduate level, and PhD courses at the doctorate level. For admission to the law courses,  NLU Delhi conducts its own law entrance exam known as the All India Law Entrance Test (AILET), thus making it the only law school in India that does not accept the Common Law Admission Test (CLAT). 

The last date for the AILET 2025 registration for BA LLB, LLM and PhD in Law courses will be the same. The last date to fill out the AILET 2025 registration form is November 18, 2024. Candidates will be able to fill out the registration form at nationallawuniversitydelhi.in.

Once the AILET registration process is over, candidates will have to download their admit card. The AILET 2025 admit card will tentatively be released in the fourth week of November 2024 on the AILET website or portal, nationallawuniversitydelhi.in. The admit card will only be provided those candidates who complete the registration process and pay the registration fee. 

AILET 2025 registration was started on August 1, 2024 on the official AILET portal - nationallawuniversitydelhi.in. The official notification for AILET 2025 was released May 27, 2024, which confirmed the exact dates for registration and the exam. The exam date for All India Law Entrance Test is December 8, 2024. The AILET 2025 application form will be released for admission to BA LLB, LLM and PhD in Law courses.

If you have lost or forgotten the password for your AILET account, you need to visit the AILET official website - nationallawuniversitydelhi.in. Then, you need to click on the "Forgot Password?" option.

In the next step, you need to enter or confirm the email address that you used for the AILET registration. A "Reset Password" option will pop-up on the screen. Click on this option. A link to reset the new password will be sent to your registered email address. By clicking on the link and creating a new password, you will be able to generate your new AILET account password. 

AILET and CLAT both are the two most sought-after law entrance exams of the country. AILET stands for All India Law Entrance Test and CLAT stands for Common Law Admission Test. While both tests serve the law aspirants, there are a few factors that make them different from each other. I think CLAT is way ahead in comparison to AILET. CLAT offers admission to 22 National Universities that participate in this test. On the other hand, AILET has just one participating institute, and that is the National Law University (NLU), Delhi. On the basis of level of competition, in CLAT, more than 50,000 students appear for nearly 4000 seats in all the national law  universities under it. This means that the success rate in CLAT revolves around 6%. On the other hand, AILET has 110 seats under it (for all the courses combined), and more than 20,000 students appear for this test. Which means the success rate is around 0.006%. This clearly indicates that the level of competition is huge for AILET. So, if you are appearing for both the exams, you are 1000 times more likely to get a seat under CLAT when compared to AILET.

The All India Law Entrance Test is the national-level Law Exam that is conducted by the National Law University in Delhi. It is mandatory for students to appear for this exam if they are thinking of studying Law at National Law University, Delhi. The total Exam Duration is ninety minutes, in which you have to answer 150 questions, asked from English,  Logical Reasoning and General Knowledge.

The key differences between CLAT and AILET are the following:

Colleges Accepting Scores:

• CLAT: Accepted by 22 National Law Universities (NLUs) and 65 other participating institutions across India for undergraduate (UG) and postgraduate (PG) law programmes.
• AILET: Only accepted by National Law University Delhi (NLU Delhi) for its UG and PG law programs. NLU Meghalaya conducts its own separate entrance exam.

Exam Pattern and Syllabus:

CLAT:

• 5 sections: Legal reasoning, Logical reasoning, Quantitative techniques, English language comprehension, and Current affairs with General Knowledge.
• Objective type Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs) for both UG and PG exams.

AILET:

• 3 sections: Legal reasoning, Legal aptitude, and English language.
• Objective type MCQs for the UG exam, while the PG exam has both MCQs and descriptive questions.
• No Quantitative techniques section unlike CLAT.
• General Knowledge (GK) questions are asked in statement-based format compared to the passage-based format in CLAT.

Difficulty Level:

• CLAT: Generally considered slightly easier due to a more predictable pattern and syllabus.
• AILET: Often perceived as more challenging due to its unpredictable nature and the inclusion of descriptive questions in the PG exam.

Other Factors:

• Exam Dates: CLAT and AILET are typically conducted on separate dates, usually in May and June respectively.
• Application Process: Both exams have separate application processes through their respective websites.

As per the current notification, there is no limit on the number of attempts allowed for AILET (All India Law Entrance Test). Candidates can take the exam as many times as they wish, provided they fulfill the eligibility criteria for the exam. However, it is important to note that the eligibility criteria for AILET may change from year to year, and the number of attempts allowed may be specified in the notification. It is recommended to check the official website of National Law University, Delhi (NLU Delhi) regularly for updates on the AILET exam and its eligibility criteria.

It's crucial to remember that the AILET exam takes place only once a year. Therefore, candidates can only take the exam once in a given year. If they do not clear the AILET exam, they must wait until the following year to attempt it again. They need to make sure that they meet the eligibility criteria of the exam for the next year. Candidates should prepare thoroughly and take the exam seriously each time they attempt it.

To qualify for AILET, you will have to score above or equal to the AILET cut-off according to your category. If you do not qualify for the exam, you can reappear for it next year if you want to study BA LLB (Hons.), BCom LLB (Hons.) or LLM at NLU Delhi. If you want to take the exam again, you can opt for one of the following options: 

• Take other law entrance exams, such as LSAT India, SLAT or any of the state-level law entrance tests. 
• Apply for admission to colleges accepting AILET scores. 
• You can apply for admission to colleges that accept merit-based admission. The merit-based admission process refers to the process in which colleges consider your marks in the qualifying exam (Class 12 marks for UG courses and graduation marks for PG courses). 

Always remember that you should not apply for admission to a college that has not been recognised by UGC.

Age Limit:

There is no age limit for appearing in the AILET exam.

• You must be a citizen of India.

BCom LLB (Hons.) is one of the two undergraduate courses offered by the National Law University, Delhi, through the AILET exam. The other undergraduate course is BA LLB (Hons.). The eligibility criteria for AILET BCom LLB are as follows:

• Candidates must have passed Class 12 (10+2) from a recognised state or national board.
• They must have secured a minimum of 45% in Class 12 to apply for the AILET BCom LLB exam.
• The minimum qualifying marks for candidates belonging to SC, ST, OBC, and Persons with Disabilities (PwD) categories are 42%.
• Candidates applying under the Foreign Nationals category must have a minimum of 65% marks in the Class 12 (10+2) exam or any equivalent form of higher secondary education to be eligible for the AILET BCom LLB exam.
• Candidates who are studying in Class 12 can also apply for AILET. They will be required to submit their final mark sheet at the time of AILET counselling. They will also have to meet the minimum percentage requirement as per their category.

The AILET eligibility criteria for the LLM programmeme are as follows:

Educational Qualification:

Candidates must have obtained an LLB degree or a graduation degree in any stream from a recogniseed university.

Minimum Marks:

• General & OBC: Minimum of 50% marks in the graduation degree examination.
• SC/ST/PwD: Minimum of 45% marks in the graduation final examination.

Appearing for Final Year LLB:

• Candidates who are appearing for their final year/semester of the LLB programmeme in the year of the AILET exam are also eligible to apply. However, they must have completed their LLB degree with the minimum qualifying marks by the time of admission.

Age Limit:

• There is no age limit for appearing in the AILET exam, including the LLM programmeme.

The minimum educational qualification required to appear for the AILET exam, regardless of whether it is for the BA LLB or LLM programme, is the same:

No, you do not need to send a hard copy of your documents to NLU Delhi to apply for AILET. You only need specific documents and details for the application process. These documents and details are mentioned below:

The National Law University Delhi will release the AILET 2025 admit card on November 28, 2024. The admit card can be downloaded from the official website using application number and password. It must be noted that only those candidates who are eligible and have submitted the AILET Application Form 2025 on time will be issued the AILET 2025 Admit card. Candidates must note that NLU Delhi will issue the AILET Admit card online and will not send it to anyone through speed post.

No, you cannot keep the admit card of AILET 2025 on your mobile phone. The exam authorities require candidates to carry a printed copy of the admit card to the exam center. This is to ensure that the identity of the candidate is verified and that there is no chance of any electronic device malfunctioning during the exam. While you may have a digital copy of the admit card on your mobile phone, it is recommended that you take a printout of the admit card and carry it with you to the exam center. Yes, candidates will receive an OMR sheet to take the AILET exam. Each question will have four answer options, with a circle corresponding to each option. AILET is a 120 minutes examination, and it is scheduled from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm. The exam timings are shared by NLU Delhi every year in the admission notification. Calculators are not allowed in the AILET exam. However, students are provided the virtual calculator during the exam which can be used to solving lengthy calculations. The virtual calculator is made available on the computer screen during the test and candidates can use it by clicking on the calculator link. Candidates are advised to practice solving numerical questions on their own as using virtual calculators can take much time

Along with the AILET admit card, candidates need a valid ID card to proof their identity at the AILET exam centre. This ID card can be one of the following: 

• Aadhaar Card
• Voter ID
• PAN Card
• Passport
• Diving License

Before taking a particular ID proof to the exam center, you must ensure that all the details on the card are correct. If there is a mistake in the spelling of your name, your father's name, date of birth, address, or contact details, avoid using that document as ID proof, as these details will not match the ones on your AILET admit card.

In such cases, it is better to carry another ID proof. After the exam, make sure to correct the details on all your government-issued ID proofs, as they may be required for AILET counselling.

On the day of the exam, candidates must carry the following documents and items to the AILET centre:

• AILET admit card: Since, it is a mandatory document to be carried to the test centre, candidates must carry their admit card as issued to them. Candidates without a valid admit card on the day of the exam will not be allowed to take it.
• Photo ID proof: Along with the admit card, candidates must also carry an original photo ID proof issued by the Government of India. Documents that can be presented as an ID proof include PAN Card, Driving License, Voter ID, Passport, Aadhaar Card and Ration Card. 
• Photo: Candidates should carry an attested passport size photograph  (the same as uploaded at the time of filling the application form). 
• Stationary: Since the AILET 2024 is an offline exam, candidates must carry at least two good-quality ball-point pens of blue or black ink and an HB pencil to the test centre
• Disability certificate: The certificate is mandatory for candidates who have applied under the Persons with Disability (PwD) category
• Other items such as an analogue watch, transparent water bottle, face masks, gloves and hand sanitizer are also to be carried to the test centre.

AILET exam centre 2025 will be allotted along with the admit card. Candidates are advised to check the admit card to know about the exam centre and other crucial details. Apart from name and address of allotted AILET exam centre, the admit card comprises details such as exam date, timing, exam day guidelines etc. Date for admit card release is published along with the information brochure on the official website. Candidates have to download the admit card for AILET 2025 after logging and providing details such as application ID, password and others. 

The registration for AILET (All India Law Entrance Test) 2025 was started on August 1, 2024. The National Law University, Delhi (NLU Delhi) will close the application process on November 18, 2024. No, the allotted exam centre cannot be changed at any stage after submission of the application form. Candidates will have to appear at the allotted test centre only. However, any incorrect detail related to the exam centre on the admit card can be reported to NLU Delhi to get it corrected.

The National Law University Delhi (NLUD) will conduct the pen-and-paper-based AILET 2025 exam on December 8, 2024 (2 pm - 4 pm). The exam will be held in 24 cities across the country. Each of these exam cities may have one or more test centres. The candidate had to select their choice of exam cities at the time of filling out the AILET 2024 application form. A maximum of THREE cities could be selected (in the order of priority). 

The difficulty level of AILET exam can be considered moderate to difficult. The exam is designed to test the candidates' knowledge and understanding of various subjects of law and general knowledge. The level of difficulty may vary from year to year, and it largely depends on the preparation and understanding of the candidates. However, candidates who are well-prepared, have a strong understanding of the subjects, and have practiced enough questions are likely to find the exam easier to crack. To prepare for the exam, candidates should focus on understanding the concepts and fundamentals of each subject, solving practice questions and previous year papers, and managing their time effectively during the exam. It is also important to stay calm and composed during the exam and avoid getting stuck on difficult questions, as it may affect your overall performance.

In the last year's AILET question paper for UG course, GK questions were prominently related to static GK. The number of current affairs-related questions was lower. Questions were mainly related to law field and Economics. These questions were related to topics, such as Supreme Court of India, Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and Gross Domestic Product (GDP). 
A large number of questions in the section were based on topics related to international relations, such as international alliances, agreements and G20 Summit. 

Other main topics covered in the GK section of the previous year's AILET question paper were awards, sports, geography of India and books and authors.

AILET used to be a very tough entrance exam before 2023 due to its short duration of 90 minutes. However, NLU Delhi increased the duration of the exam from 90 minutes to 120 minutes for the AILET 2024 exam. The extended duration made it slightly easier for candidates to solve 150 questions in 120 minutes for the AILET UG exam. As a result, the AILET difficulty level has decreased over time with the increase in exam duration.

NLU Delhi also removed the descriptive section from the AILET LLM exam in 2023. Now, only objective questions are included in the AILET PG or LLM exam. The removal of the descriptive section has further reduced the difficulty level of the AILET PG exam over time.

Yes, candidate can challenge AILET Answer Key. NLU Delhi will release the provisional answer key for AILET 2025 first after which it will open a window to invite objections. After receiving the objection, the final AILET 2025 answer key will be published.  Note that, unlike the provisional key, the FINAL key can't be challenged. So, the keys included in the final keys will be considered the correct keys for questions asked in the AILET 2025 exam.  The results for AILET 2025 will be released after the release of the final key.

NLU Delhi will release the AILET 2025 question paper as a separate document from the AILET 2025 answer key. However, both documents will be released on the same date and at the same time. The university typically publishes the AILET question paper and answer key within 24 hours of the exam's completion. The AILET 2025 exam date is December 8, 2024. Therefore, the AILET 2025 answer keys and question papers for BA LLB (Hons.), BCom LLB (Hons.), and LLM are expected to be released on December 9, 2024, at nationallawuniversitydelhi.in.

Using the question paper and answer key, candidates can check the correct answers for each question and predict their exam scores.

 National Law University (NLU) Delhi will tentatively be released in the second week of December 2024.  NLU Delhi will release the provisional answer key for AILET 2024 first after which it will open a window to invite objections. After receiving the objection, the final AILET 2025 answer key will be published. Note that, unlike the provisional key, the FINAL key can't be challenged. So, the keys included in the final keys will be considered the correct keys for questions asked in the AILET 2025 exam.  The results for AILET 2025 and AILET final answer key 2025 will tenetatively be released in the second week of December 2024.

The results for AILET 2025 will tentatively be released in the second week of December 2024  After the released on the result, the counselling for AILET 2025 will begin within a few weeks. Since, the entrance exam will be held on December 8, 2024, the results will be declared around the same time, and the counselling process is expected to be held in January 2025 only. The counselling process for AILET 2024 was started in December 2023 and was completed by May 2024. Similarly, the counselling process for upcoming sessions of AILET 2025 exam will also be conducted between January and May 2024.

The AILET admission process after the results are declared is as mentioned below: 

• AILET counseling: The number of candidates invited for counseling will be FIVE times the number of seats available in each category. The consortium will upload the list of eligible candidates on its website before the start of counseling registration.
• AILET cutoff: The NLU Delhi will release the AILET cutoff on its official website at the time of seat allotment. The cutoff is the minimum marks/rank that aspirants need to secure in order to get admission to a 5-year LLB or one-year LLB program.

To check the results for the AILET 2025 exam, follow the steps mentioned below:

1. Click on the result link given above
2. You will be redirected to a log-in window
3. Enter your AILET 2025 registered mobile number and password
4. On successful log-in, the results would be displayed on the screen
5. Download the result

The methodology followed to determine the merit rank if two or more candidates score the same marks in AILET 2025 is explained below.

BA LLB program 

1. If two or more candidates get the same marks, their merit will be determined on the basis of higher marks in the logical reasoning section.
2. If the tie persists, then the candidate senior in age will be given preference.
3. If the tie is still undecided at this stage, then the merit rank will be decided by the computerized draw of lots.

LLM program

1. Senior Age;
2. Computerized draw of lots 

The AILET merit lists 2025 will contain the following details:

• Candidate's Application number
• Roll number/Admit Card Number
• Vertical/Horizontal Reservation-related information
• All India rank

Candidates should note that the AILET 2025 merit lists will be released in multiple rounds. There will be separate round-wise merit lists for each course. Most of the admission process is expected to be completed by the release of the third merit list. To check the course-wise AILET 2025 merit lists, candidates will need to visit the AILET 2025 portal - nationallawuniversitydelhi.in. The dates for the release of these merit lists will be announced along with the AILET 2025 counselling notification.

AILET 2025 second merit list for BA LLB (Hons.), BCom LLB (Hons.) and LLM are expected to be released in January 2025 - nationallawuniversitydelhi.in. The dates for the release of AILET 2025 UG Merit Lists and AILET 2025 PG Merit List for the second round will be different. 

After the release of the round 2 merit list, candidates will have to pay the balance admission fee and secure their seats. There will be a fixed deadline to submit the admission fee for the AILET 2025 counselling round 2. If a candidate does not get selected in the second round of the AILET 2025 counselling, he or she needs to wait for the release of the round 3 merit list. The list will be released at nationallawuniversitydelhi.in.

The AILET scorecard is a document that is released to each candidate who appears for the AILET exam. It contains the candidate's individual scores in each section of the exam, as well as their overall score and rank.

The AILET merit list is a list of all candidates who appeared for the exam, ranked in order of their overall score. This list is used by the National Law University Delhi to shortlist candidates for admission to its law programs.

The AILET 2025 first merit lists for BA LLB (Hons.), BCom LLB (Hons.), LLM and PhD in Law courses are expected by released by the end of December 2024 at nationallawuniversitydelhi.in. Candidates need to note that the dates for the release of first merit list will be different for each course. To check the merit list, they can use the following steps:

• Navigate the "Notification" section on the portal's homepage. 
• Look for the "First BA LLB (Hons.)/BCom LLB (Hons.)/LLM/Phd in Law Merit List" link.

Even though NLU Delhi is a National Law University but it is not a part of the Consortium of NLUs, which raises the obvious question 'how is it different than other NLUs? . All the NLUs in India have been granted the status by the University Grants Commission (UGC). Thus, there is no major difference in the courses offered at NLU Delhi as compared to the other National Law Universities. Moreover, NLU Delhi is built on the five-year integrated law degree model as proposed and implemented by the Bar Council of India (BCI). 

The invite list will carry the following information:

• The invite list will be released category-wise
• It will include the application number, roll number, total marks, and All India Ranks of candidates shortlisted for counselling.
• It will also include the seat matrix and reservation for AILET 2025 admission process.
• The counselling schedule
•  The step-wise counselling process.

NLU Delhi offers law courses i.e. five-year Intergrated BA LLB (Hons.) course at the undergraduate level, One-year LLM course at the postgraduate level, and PhD courses at the doctorate level. For admission to the law courses,  NLU Delhi conducts its own law entrance exam known as the All India Law Entrance Test (AILET), thus making it the only law school in India that does not accept the Common Law Admission Test (CLAT).

 Different factors are taken into consideration while determining the AILET cutoff such as:

• Difficulty level of the paper
• Number of candidates appeared
• Number of candidates qualified
• Total seats available for admission
• Category of candidates

As of now, the official dates for AILET 2025 have not been announced yet, so the exact date for the beginning of the counselling process is not known. However, based on the previous year's trends, the counselling for AILET typically begins in the month of July or August, after the announcement of the results. During the counselling process, the candidates who have qualified in the AILET exam are required to register online and fill in their preferences for the National Law University (NLU) of their choice. The counselling process involves document verification, seat allotment, and fee payment. The seat allotment is based on the candidate's rank, preference, and availability of seats. It is recommended to regularly check the official website of NLU Delhi or the AILET 2025 portal for the latest updates regarding the counselling process and schedule.

The AILET 2025 counselling process includes the following steps:

• Release of AILET 2025 invite list 
• Registration for counseling by candidates inlcuded in the list
• Release of provisional admission list
• Pay admission fee 

AILET 2025 is scheduled to be on December 8, 2024. National Law University (NLU), Delhi will release the AILET 2025 merit list for BA LLB, LLM programme once the AILET Result 2025 is announced. Candidates who are included provisional seat allotment letter have to confirm their seat by paying the admission fee on or before the last date. 

The AILET counselling fee of INR 30,000 (INR for reserved category candidates) will be refunded only to candidates who have successfully registered for the counselling and paid the fee but due to but due to higher cutoff could not find a place in the merit list. The refund will be initiated by NLU Delhi on completion of the admission process, whichever is earlier. The counselling fee will be refunded to the same account from which it was paid.

The National Law University Delhi accepts AILET scores for admission to the BA LLB (Hons) course. According to the fourth cutoff list in 2024, AILET score stood at 66 for the BA LLB (Hons) course.

During the round 1 cutoff, the BA LLB (Hons) score was 62 for the General AII India category candidates. So, considering the round 1 and round 4 cutoff, the minimum score required in AILET is 60 to get a seat in the BA LLB (Hons) course for the General category students under the AI Quota.

Both NLU Delhi and NLSIU Bangalore are the top Law universities in India and offered BA LLB course with a well-structured curriuculum. However, there might be slight difference in the package offered by both the universities. The All India Law Entrance Test is the basis for admission to National Law University (NLU), located in Delhi (AILET). Every year, the BA LLB (Hons.) program's cutoff scores change according on variables like the volume of applications and degree of difficulty. The general category cutoff typically falls between 85 and 90 marks out of 150. The cutoff is lower for reserved groups (SC, ST, and OBC), usually between 60 and 75 marks. It's crucial to remember that these numbers change every year depending on ticket availability and competition.

The seat intake for the LLM programme at National Law University, Delhi is 162. The university only offers seats based on  availability of seats and the merit lists. Further, NLUD follows the reservation policy while allotting the seats among the students. Candidates must complete the entire admission process of AIET and NLUD to secure LLM seat.
