AILET 2017 Exam Analysis by Shiksha Experts

NLU-Delhi has not joined the ranks of the National Law Universities (NLUs) that accept CLAT as an admissions test, and continues to conduct the AILET for 80 plus seats for its flagship BA LLB program. AILET 2017 held major surprises for the 17,000 plus aspirants who took the exam this year. NLU Delhi has also seen a steady increase in the number of test takers in the last three years, indicating a growing preference for the university.

In the last three years, the level of difficulty in AILET was relatively moderate to difficult. This year, however, AILET 2017 has come as a whopper to students, and is the toughest in the last four years.  AILET awards one point for each correct answer, and has no negative marking. The absence of negative marking of AILET is considered an advantage, but this year the extremely difficult exam coupled with ambiguous questions meant that students spent way too much time in understanding and attempting questions, and were not left with much time for smart guesses.

AILET 2017: Section-wise Analysis by Experts

No.  of Questions

Analysis and Content

English

35

Difficulty level: HIGH

The biggest surprise was the absence of Reading Comprehension questions. Students have come to expect 7-8 such questions on the AILET. A major challenge in this section for students was that many question types took a lot of time to simply understand the instructions. Vocabulary questions were on the easier side.

General Knowledge

35

Difficulty level: HIGH

At least 15 questions in this section were extremely difficult. A couple of questions in this section questions were ambiguous, and the answers can be disputed.

Mathematics

10

Difficulty level: EASY-MODERATE

No major surprises in this section. As expected, most of the questions were from Arithmetic.

Legal Aptitude

35

Difficulty level: HIGH

With 19 questions on static legal knowledge, this section was difficult.  Most of the questions were extremely tough and tested very fine details.

Reasoning

35

Difficulty level: MODERATE-HIGH

Definitely tougher than expected. Some questions can be classified as CAT level.

As is our philosophy, edmyt faculty have also taken AILET 2017 and we are predicting that cut-offs for AILET 2017 are expected to be much lower than last year’s.

It's difficult to say if you can get into an NLU with an AIR of 15466 in CLAT 2024 As to get into one of the top Nlus, general category candidates should aim for a score of 90 or more in CLAT 2024. For SC/ST categories, 60–70 points is considered a decent score.

Some law colleges in India that offer admission without an entrance test include:
SRM University, School of Law
Geetham University

With a CLAT rank of 30,000, admission to National Law Universities (NLUs) is highly unlikely for their main campuses, as most of them have cutoffs well below this rank. However, you may still have chances in some newer or less competitive NLUs, especially in lower-category programs. It's important t

The National Law University (NLU) admission prospects are slim in view of a CLAT rank of 7616 and an EWS rank of 640. Most of the NLU cut-off ranks tend to be exceptionally lower as compared to general category and EWS candidates, even in some of the most sought-after courses like BA LLB.

The cutoff for the Ph.D. in Law (Part-Time) is not defined as it was not communicated in the search results above. However, the admission procedure involves a two-stage selection consisting of a written entrance test along with assessment of research proposals plus interview. A minimum of 50% marks

As per the NLU Delhi BA LLB (Hons) AILET 2024 cutoff, the AILET  score for general category in 2024 stood at 71. The score for the same category and course stood at 106 in 2023 and 86 in 2022. Based on this trend, it can be said that getting a score between 80 and 90 would be good enough.
