After class 12, students need to choose a field of study. In every entrance exam, aptitude tests for different subjects are conducted to assess the student’s knowledge about the specific course/ subject.
In the field of law, different entrance exams are conducted by different colleges. One that is most preferred is the Common Law Admission Test (CLAT). CLAT is a national-level entrance exam for admission in various National Law Universities (NLUs) across the country. Similarly, Symbiosis Law Admission Test (SLAT) is conducted by the Symbiosis International (Deemed) Universities for admission in their five-year integrated law courses.

In SLAT, English is considered as a scoring section. The strategy one could use is to first prepare the English and Logical Reasoning sections. Legal Aptitude is difficult and important section in the SLAT exam. Therefore, preparing it from day one is important for every law aspirant. The same rule applies for General Awareness section.
SLAT is much easier exam than CLAT. However, the syllabus of both exams is the same. There is no negative marking in SLAT.
To prepare for the entrance exam, complete the syllabus at least two weeks before the exam to get some time for revision. Prepare shot notes of each topic from day one as this would help in revising the topics before the exam. Follow the pattern of studying one subject in a day as it would be impossible to complete a subject at the last moment. Try to revise the short notes regularly to get a good grip on the subject.
To prepare from home, every topic and sub-topics are available on YouTube by different teachers and coaching classes. The students could refer to these online videos and understand the topics well. Practise previous year question papers and mock tests regularly as this would help in managing time. One of the best reference books to prepare for the law entrance exam is Universal Law Publication. This book has all the topics covered with mock papers and last year’s questions on each topic from all the exams conducted across the country
Q: How can I prepare for SLAT 2025?
To prepare for SLAT 2025, candidates first need to know the pattern of the exam. SLAT pattern includes five sections in the exam question paper: Logical reasoning, Legal Reasoning, Analytical Reasoning, Reading Comprehension and General Knowledge. Candidates need to practice topics or subjects related to these sections. To practise these topics, candidates can refer to the SLAT syllabus and practise sets and mock tests related to SLAT. The Symbiosis Entrance Test (SET) Authority does not provide practise sets and mock tests for the SLAT. Thus, candidates can find these practise sets and mock tests in any book designed for SLAT preparation. These books should be published by reliable and renowned publications. Books designed for CLAT preparation can also help candidates with SLAT preparation.
Q: Which subjects should I study to crack SLAT?
The important topics for the different sections of the SLAT exam are different. The important topics for the General English section of SLAT are Reading Comprehension, Word Usage, Vocabulary, Grammar, Inference-based questions, Synonyms, Antonyms, Foreign Words/Phrase, and Para Jumbles. Q: What is the difficulty level of SLAT?
SLAT, which stands for Symbiosis Law Admission Test, is the entrance examination conducted by Symbiosis International University (SIU) for admission to its undergraduate law programs, including BA LLB and BBA LLB. The difficulty level of SLAT can be categorized as moderate to moderately challenging.
Here are some key points to consider regarding the difficulty level of SLAT:
1. Subjective Perception: The difficulty of SLAT may vary from one candidate to another, depending on their individual strengths and weaknesses. Some candidates may find it relatively easier, while others may perceive it as moderately challenging.
2. Sections: SLAT typically consists of sections like Logical Reasoning, Legal Reasoning, Analytical Reasoning, Reading Comprehension, and General Knowledge. Each section may have varying levels of difficulty, with some being more challenging than others.
3. Competitive Nature: SLAT is a competitive entrance exam, and it is designed to assess candidates' aptitude for legal studies. Therefore, it includes questions that test logical and analytical reasoning, legal concepts, and reading comprehension.
4. Preparation Matters: The difficulty of SLAT can also depend on the level of preparation of the candidate. Those who have thoroughly prepared for the exam, including solving practice papers and taking mock tests, are likely to find it more manageable.
5. Time Management: Like many other entrance exams, SLAT places a premium on time management. Candidates need to answer a significant number of questions within a limited time frame, which can add to the perceived difficulty.
6. Previous Year Papers: To gauge the difficulty level more accurately, it's a good practice to review previous year's question papers and sample papers, which are often available on the official SLAT website.
In summary, while SLAT is not considered exceptionally difficult, it does require focused preparation, particularly in areas such as logical and legal reasoning. Candidates who have a strong grasp of these concepts and practice effectively are better equipped to perform well in the exam.
Q: What is the difficulty level of the SLAT Reading Comprehension section?
The difficulty level of the SLAT Reading Comprehension section is easy to moderate. If we look at the previous years’ question papers of the SLAT exam, it has been noticed that most questions in the section were asked to assess the understanding of candidates about the English language. These questions are based on articles from different newspapers. Candidates require knowledge of English Grammar and vocabulary. Thus, to solve the Reading Comprehension section, they need to have excellent knowledge of English Grammar and vocabulary.
