Shiksha reported live from Atma Ram Sanatan Dharma College, Delhi University where a total of 556 BA/BBA LLB students appeared for the exam. Most of the UG Law aspirants who took the Law entrance exam shared that the paper was easy but contained a lot of errors.

HP-NLET 2018: Section-Wise Difficulty Level

According to Shaina, a student from Holy Child School, “My paper went good as it was not lengthy at all unlike AILET paper. I was able to complete my paper 15 minutes before time. However, there were a lot of mistakes in the paper. For instance, in some questions same option was repeated twice.”

As per another HP-NLET aspirant, Deepti, “The paper was easy. However, questions that were asked in the exam were quite off-topic unlike CLAT and AILET, which usually contain very relevant and to-the-point questions.” Talking about the section-wise difficulty of the exam, Deepti shared, “Questions from Maths were easy. In Legal Aptitude, there were a lot of Maxims questions so I found it moderate in terms of difficulty level. General Awareness section, unexpectedly, contained more static GK questions as compared to current affairs, which made it more difficult for me. I was able to attempt all questions in time.”

Rohit who had applied for BBA LLB course in HPNLU shared, “My paper went well but I found static part in GK section to be very difficult. The questions were really tricky in the section. Rest all other sections were easy. Questions from Legal Aptitude and Maths were quite straight forward. Among all sections in the exam, Maths was the easiest and static part of GK was the most difficult.”

Raghav from Delhi Public School, Gurgaon, said, “Exam was quite easy. Among all sections in the paper, I found Maths to be easiest followed by Reasoning. Legal Aptitude had lots of Maxims questions, which made the section little difficult. Except four to five vocabulary questions, I found the section of English to be easy as well.” Talking about the errors in the exam, Raghav shared, “There were a lot of grammatical errors in the paper especially in Legal Aptitude section. Also, some questions were wrong in the sense that same options were given twice. This increased the difficulty level of the paper for me.”

According to Swati from Delhi Public School, Panipat, “I found the paper to be of moderate difficulty level. Many questions had errors, which made it difficult to do the paper. If I compare the difficulty level of all the sections, English was moderate, Legal Aptitude and Reasoning was quite easy and Maths was a bit difficult.”

Another student, Ritika of Holy Trinity Church School, Ghaziabad was of the view, “Although the level of questions was not high, errors like spelling mistakes and misprinting made the paper difficult. I found Legal Aptitude and Maths sections to be easiest. In GK, majority of questions were static in nature and came from subjects like Chemistry and Physics. So, I found GK section moderate in terms of difficulty level.”

HP-NLET 2018: Exam Pattern

Most of the HP-NLET candidates shared that the exam pattern was similar to last year’s paper. According to Rohit, “As compared to last year, there was not much difference in the exam pattern of HPNLET 2018. But, HP-NLET paper does not have any fixed number of questions, which is disturbing. For example, this year the number of static GK questions was way more than last year’s paper.”

Swati from DPS Panipat said, “Keeping aside the errors, HP-NLET exam pattern was similar to last year’s paper. The pattern was exactly the same as mentioned on the official website of HPNLU.”
Shaina also shared, “Exam pattern and marking scheme of HPNLET 2018 was similar to last year’s paper. However, the number of questions within sections changed a little. In total, there were 150 questions in the exam. One mark was allotted for each correct answer and 0.25 marks were deducted for each incorrect answer in the exam.”

HP-NLET vs CLAT vs AILET: Difficulty Level

Most of the students who gave HP-NLET 2018 exam had already appeared for CLAT and AILET papers. We asked students to compare the difficulty level of all the three exams. Most of the aspirants shared that AILET was the most difficult exam. However, we got mixed reactions on the difficulty level of CLAT and HP-NLET.

A student of Dayawati Modi Academy, Meerut, Pallavi said that she found CLAT to be easier than HPNLU paper. However, as per Ritika, “HPNLET was easiest followed by CLAT and AILET.” Also, Swati shared, “Among all the three exams, HPNLET was the easiest and AILET was the most difficult.”

Raghav from DPS Gurgaon, said, “AILET was most difficult as it was a really lengthy paper. CLAT was easiest of all the exams, but there were a lot of technical glitches in the paper. There were many grievances in CLAT answer key too.”
