SLAT 2024 Toppers

Once all four of the university's law schools— SLS Pune, SLS Nagpur, SLS Noida, and SLS Hyderabad—have published their merit lists for 2024, Symbiosis International University will share the list of SLAT top scorers. The names of the exam toppers, and the rank obtained by them will be mentioned below:

Q:   What is the format of the SLAT exam?

A:

You should refer to the official Symbiosis Law Admission Test (SLAT) website or SLAT brochure to know the most up-to-date information regarding the exam format. Here is the general format of the SLAT exam:

1. Exam Mode: SLAT is conducted in an online, computer-based test (CBT) mode. Candidates need to take the exam on a computer at the designated exam center.

2. Duration: The total duration of the SLAT exam is 60 minutes.

3. Type of Questions: SLAT consists of objective-type multiple-choice questions (MCQs). Each question has four answer options, and candidates need to choose the correct one.

4. Sections: The SLAT exam is divided into sections, including:
   - Logical Reasoning: This section assesses a candidate's ability to analyze information, make decisions, and solve problems logically.
   - Legal Reasoning: Legal reasoning questions test a candidate's understanding of legal principles, concepts, and reasoning skills.
   - Analytical Reasoning: This section evaluates a candidate's ability to understand and analyze relationships between various elements.
   - Reading Comprehension: It assesses a candidate's reading skills, including their ability to comprehend and interpret written passages.
   - General Knowledge: This section tests a candidate's knowledge of current affairs, general awareness, and static GK.

5. Total Questions: The total number of questions in the SLAT exam will be 60

6. Marking Scheme: SLAT usually follows a marking scheme where each correct answer earns the candidate one mark. There is no negative marking for incorrect answers.

7. Language: The SLAT exam is conducted in English.

8. Syllabus: The syllabus for SLAT includes topics related to logical reasoning, legal aptitude, analytical reasoning, reading comprehension, and general knowledge.

9. Admissions: SLAT scores are used for admission to undergraduate law programs (BA LLB and BBA LLB) offered by various Symbiosis law schools.

It's essential to check the official SLAT website and the specific year's exam brochure for detailed and up-to-date information on the exam format, syllabus, and other relevant details before you apply and prepare for the exam.

Q:   What was the basis of the SLAT 2023 analysis?

A:

The SLAT 2023 analysis was prepared based on student reactions and reviews by experts. While the student reactions were different from one to another as each student had a different perspective, the expert review was a more credible source of SLAT 2023 analysis. The difficulty level of SLAT 2023 may vary for candidates based on their preparation level. Based on their expertise and experience, the SLAT 2023 analysis by experts provided a more in-depth overview of the exam for each subject, topic, syllabus coverage, and weightage. Expert analysis for SLAT 2023 also acted as a basis for preparation for aspirants planning to appear for the exam next year.

Q:   What changes have been made to the SLAT exam pattern?

A:

The Symbiosis Law Admission Test Authority has made a change in the weightage of SLAT entrance exam scores in recent years. As per the new pattern, there will be 60 questions for the SLAT question paper from five different sections: Logical Reasoning, Logical Reasoning, Legal Reasoning, Analytical Reasoning, Reading Comprehension, and General Knowledge. Each question carries one mark. This means the total marks for SLAT should be 60. However, the entrance test authority scaled down the 60 marks of the SLAT exam to 50. Thus, as per the new exam pattern, the new weightage for the SLAT exam is 50. The rest of the 50 weightage scores for the exam are taken from the SLAT Writing Ability Test (WAT) and Personal Interaction (PI). The weightage of SLAT WAT is 20. However, the weightage of PI is 30.

The Success Strategies Used by Previous Years’ Toppers of SLAT

Read about the main strategies that some of the previous years’ toppers of the SLAT used to achieve the top ranks in the exam here.

Vidhi Basrani

Vidhi obtained 115 out of 150 marks in the SLAT 2019 exam. She individually devoted time to studying the Reading Comprehension, Logical Reasoning and Analytical Reasoning sections of the SLAT exam. She studies each subject on different days of the week to devote proper time to practising questions related to an individual section. She considers efficiency a key to success. Thus, Vidhi took SLAT mock tests to enhance her efficiency in solving questions and improve her understanding of each section. Additionally, she learned time management to enhance her performance on exam day. She also referred to the studies that were provided to her at the coaching centre.

Livie Jain

Livie Jain is one of the toppers of SLAT 2018. To succeed in the SLAT exam, she prepared a study schedule or routine. This study routine guided her SLAT preparation and motivated her to practise questions related to the exam daily. Livie studied Reading Comprehension, Logical Reasoning and Analytical Reasoning sincerely, but she also paid attention to GK preparation. She considered GK to be the most tricky section of the SLAT exam. As per the SLAT 2024 analysis, GK was the toughest section of the exam. Thus, all SLAT aspirants need to give sufficient time to the preparation of the GK section along with the preparation of other sections of the exam.

Q:   Is there any sectional time limit to attempt questions in SLAT?

A:
No, there is no sectional limit to the number of attempts at questions in the SLAT question paper. Candidates have 60 minutes to attempt 60 multiple choice questions in the SLAT exam. Thus, the average time that can be used by candidates to answer each exam question is 1 minute. It depends on the candidates how they want to manage their time to answer all the questions. Here, SLAT aspirants need to know that there is no negative marking scheme in the SLAT exam.

Q:   Which type of questions were asked in the Reading Comprehension section of SLAT 2023?

A:

The SLAT 2023's Reading Comprehension section was the simplest. In the Reading Comprehension section of the SLAT 2023, questions related to articles from newspapers like "The Hindu" and "Times of India" were asked. Candidates were required to apply their knowledge of sentence structure and vocabulary of the English language to solve questions related to the Reading Comprehension section of SLAT 2023. Thus, the knowledge of English Grammar and vocabulary helped them to perform well to solve the section.

Q:   What is the marking scheme for SLAT?

A:

The marking scheme for SLAT (Symbiosis Law Admission Test) is as follows:

1. Total Marks: The total marks for SLAT are 60.

2. Number of Questions: The number of questions in SLAT is 60.

3. Marking for Correct Answers: Each correct answer in SLAT typically earns the candidate one mark. This means that if you answer a question correctly, you receive one mark for that question.

4. Negative Marking: SLAT does not have a negative marking scheme. This means that there is no penalty for incorrect answers. Therefore, if you are unsure about an answer, it is generally advisable to make an educated guess rather than leave it blank.

Please note that the marking scheme and other exam-related policies may change from year to year. It's crucial to check the official SLAT website and the specific year's exam brochure for the most up-to-date information on the marking scheme, exam pattern, and other relevant details before you appear for the exam.

Ritesh Pathak

Ritesh was another topper of SLAT 2024. He considered consistency to be the key to success. As a result, he started his preparation around one year before the exam. This strategy allowed him to learn about all the important topics on which questions are asked in the exam. Ritesh’s preparation strategy suggests that consistency in practise for an exam helps to achieve mastery in all subjects related to it.

Moreover, Ritesh also spent more than 10 hours practising for the exam by taking mock tests. The mock tests helped him get familiar with the SLAT exam pattern and important topics on which questions are asked in the entrance examination. Revising topics multiple times also helped with exam preparation significantly.
