The Symbiosis International University (SIU) will tentatively start the SLAT 2025 registration was started on August 15, 2024 on the official website of the Symbiosis Entrance Test (SET), set-test.org, for admission to BA LLB, BBA LLB, BA LLB (Hons.), and BBA LLB (Hons.) courses. The last date to fill out the registration form November 22, 2024.

To get admission to one of the mentioned 5-year LLB courses through SLAT 2025, candidates will have to register for it first. Q:   What are the eligibility criteria for SLAT?

A:

The eligibility criteria for SLAT (Symbiosis Law Admission Test) typically included the following:

  1. Academic Qualifications:
  • For the undergraduate programs (B.A. LL.B. and B.B.A. LL.B.), candidates should have passed the 10+2 examination or its equivalent from any recognised board or university.
  • The minimum aggregate marks required in the qualifying examination are 45% in the qualifying exam for general category candidates to apply for SLAT. The minimum marks for SC and ST category candidates to apply for SLAT are 40%.

2. Nationality:

  • SLAT is open to Indian nationals as well as international students and non-resident Indians (NRIs).

3. Age Limit:

  • There is generally no specific upper age limit for candidates applying for SLAT.

4. Qualifying Examinations:

  • Candidates should have passed the 10+2 examination with English as a compulsory subject.

5. Reservation Criteria:

  • There may be specific reservation criteria for candidates belonging to scheduled castes (SC), scheduled tribes (ST), other backward classes (OBC), and differently-abled categories. Applicants in these categories should check the official SLAT notification for details.

Q:   What are the eligibility criteria for SLAT?

A:

The SLAT eligibility criteria are based on two points. The first point is that candidates must have passed Class 12. The education of candidates should be in the format of (10+2) from any recognised board. Students who completed their Class 12 at an open school are not eligible for SLAT. The second point is that candidates from the general or open category must have scored 45%. Aspirants from the scheduled caste or scheduled tribe (SC / ST) category require a minimum of 40% marks to appear in the SLAT.

 

Q:   What are the reservation criteria for SLAT?

A:

SLAT exam authority uses University Grants Commission (UGC) guidelines for SLAT reservation policy. As per the exam authority, the total percentage of reserved seats for Scheduled Caste (SC) candidates is 15. The total percentage of seats reserved for Scheduled Tries candidates in SLAT is 7.5%. The exam authority has reserved 5% of seats for wards of Defence Personnel at Symbiosis Law School Pune. The reservation facility for wards of Defence personnel is not available at the other three Symbiosis Law Schools. Moreover, 3% of total seats are reserved for Different Able candidates in all SLSs through SLAT.

SLAT 2025 Eligibility Criteria - Academic Qualification

The educational requirements as per SLAT 2025 eligibility for BA LLB and BBA LLB are as under: 

  • Candidates who have passed class 12 or equivalent examinations from a recognised board of education.  
  • They should have secured at least 45% marks in the class 12 examinations. 
  • Those belonging to Scheduled Caste/ Scheduled Tribes must have obtained at least 40% marks in class 12 examinations, as per the relaxation in minimum marks requirements given to these reserved categories. 
  • Candidates who are awaiting results of class 12 can also apply, but their results as per the requirements mentioned above, should be declared before the SLAT 2025 counselling process begins. In case, class 12 results of such candidates are not announced or they fail to fulfill the minimum marks criteria of SLAT 2025, then they will not be allowed to participate in further selection process. 

SLAT 2025 Eligibility Criteria - Age Limit 

SIU does not mention any age limit for the candidates as part of SLAT eligibility criteria. Therefore, candidates can apply irrespective of their age for BA LLB and BBA LLB courses offered at SLAT colleges

Law academic regulations are laid down by the Bar Council of India (BCI), and the regulatory authority has removed any age restrictions from legal education eligibility requirements. Therefore, SIU also follows the same eligibility criteria for SLAT 2025. 

Q:   Does Symbiosis Law School, Pune accept SLAT score?

A:

Yes, Symbiosis Law School, Pune does accept SLAT scores. It's one of the law colleges that considers SLAT scores for their admissions. So, if you're interested in joining Symbiosis Law School, Pune, you can use your SLAT score as part of your application. Admission to the SLS is done on the merit basis of the marks scored in the SLAT entrance test conducted by the college.

SLAT does not restrict eligibility based on the specific stream or subject that candidates studied in their 10+2 examination. Therefore, whether an applicant comes from a Science, Commerce, Arts, or any other background, they are generally eligible to apply for SLAT.

Since, the university has 3% seats reserved for Differently Abled Category (DAC), therefore only candidates having below mentioned physical disabilities are considered in this category: 

  • Vision Impairment (VI) candidates
  • Hearing Impairment (HI) candidates 
  • Locomotors Disabilities (LMD) candidates
  • Mental Retardation (MR) candidates 
  • Multiple Disabilities (MD) candidates 
  • Dyslexia candidates 

The disabilities mentioned above should be 40% or more, and candidates claiming admission under this category, should get a medical examination certificate issued by a medical authority. 

As per the eligibility requirements of SIU, A Differently Abled category candidate is requested to upload his/her Medical Certificate issued by a competent authority at the time of registration for ascertaining percentage of the disability. The candidate failing to do this will be considered under the Open Category.

A candidate claiming admission under DAC will be provisionally admitted under the said category. Thereafter, the candidate will be required to obtain an ‘Authentication Certificate’.The candidate will have to get the disability certificate authenticated by Medical Board of Symbiosis University Hospital and Research Centre (SUHRC). Once the certificate is found authentic and correct by the Medical Board, SUHRC, his/her eligibility will be certified under the DA category.

Such candidates can get permission to bring Scribe to appear in the SLAT 2025 examination, if they mention the DAC category in their application form. Moreover, they will be given 20 minutes extra to attempt SLAT 2025. This means, the total duration of SLAT 2025 for DAC candidates is 1 hour minutes

SLAT Eligibility Criteria 2025 - Defence Category 

Candidates applying for SLAT 2025 under Children/ Wards of Defence Personnel, can claim 5% seat reserved for the category at SLS Pune only. However, such candidates should provide the documents stating their category i.e. Children/ Wards of Defence Personnel, at the time of SLAT 2025 counselling. The following candidates are considered under this category: 

  • Children/ Ward of Defence Personnel who are serving / retired Defence personnel from Army, Navy, Air Force.
  • Children/ Ward of Ex-servicemen are also included in the retired Defence personnel category, so they are also eligible. 
  • Children/ Ward of Defence personnel, who died while in service or after retirement, are also included in this category 

SLAT 2025 eligibility criteria is one of the parameters in the selection process, and any candidate who fails to adhere to it, will not be shortlisted for admission.
