Month-wise OJEE preparation 2023

With three months in hand, it is important to divide these months into phases so that you can have a systematic approach to your OJEE preparation.

OJEE 2023 Preparation: Phase I

The first phase in OJEE preparation is knowing the OJEE syllabus thoroughly. OJEE syllabus consists of the following subjects:

Q:   Can I prepare for OJEE in one month?

A:

Preparing for the OJEE in one month requires a focused and intensive study approach. To prepare for the OJEE exam, students can begin by understanding the exam pattern, marking scheme, and the OJEE syllabus for their chosen course. Create a detailed study schedule allocating time for each subject based on your strengths and weaknesses. Focus on understanding core concepts rather than superficial coverage, and practice solving previous year papers and sample tests to familiarize yourself with the exam format. Utilize online resources for additional support and seek clarification for any doubts promptly. Stay disciplined, motivated, and committed to your study schedule, aiming for regular revision and multiple mock tests to assess your progress. While challenging, with determination, effective time management, and a positive attitude, it's possible to make significant strides in your preparation and perform well in the exam.

Q:   When should I start preparing for OJEE?

A:

Aspirants should start preparing for the OJEE exam at least six months before the test date.  This duration will be enough to complete the OJEE syllabus thoroughly and practice ample number of mock tests. The OJEE exam is similar to other MBA entrance exams so if a candidate has appeared for any other MBA exam before OJEE, they need to only do exam based preparation and focus on exam-specific mock tests. OJEE 2025 exam will likely be conducted in the second week of May 2025.

Q:   What is the OJEE exam?

A:

The Odisha Joint Entrance Examination OJEE is a state exam for admission to undergraduate and postgraduate courses in state government colleges in Odisha.

  1. Every year, this exam is conducted in online mode.
  2. The duration of the exam depends on the degree for which you are applying. For example, the B.Pharma exam lasts three hours, whereas the MBA exam lasts two hours.
  3. The fee for one subject is INR 1000, and for a combination of subjects, it is INR 1500.
  4.  The exam syllabus includes Quantitative Techniques, Reasoning, Comprehension, General Awareness, and course-specific topics.
  5. There is a negative marking of one mark for each incorrect answer.
  6. You can get admission to more than 40 government colleges based on OJEE results.
  7. This exam is not conducted for BTech, MBBS BDS or BA Courses.
  8. Regular admission to B.Tech is based on JEE, and for MBBS and BDS courses, the NEET is required. You can learn in detail about OJEE at this link: https://www.shiksha.com/mba/ojee-exam.
  • Verbal Reasoning
  • Analytical Reasoning
  • General Knowledge
  • Comprehension
  • Computer and Business Fundamentals

Start your OJEE preparations with the topics which you find toughest. Study these topics thoroughly and make notes along with your preparations. Jot down formulae or tricks that you come across during preparation. To tackle the Comprehension and Verbal Reasoning section, start reading newspapers, magazines, etc. Reading data-heavy passages in less time increases the chances of mistakes so practice reading such passages from the beginning of exam preparation. Strengthen your grammar and vocabulary to ace these sections.

The Analytical Reasoning section assesses the students’ analytical skills. It is important to understand the pattern of the questions and know the formulae by heart. Also, find out ways to solve Analytical Reasoning questions through shortcuts for you would not like to spend too much time solving puzzles. Join online study groups to meet mentors and peers. They will be of great help in finding out tricks and shortcuts.

The General Awareness section is all about current affairs, the latest trends, history, economics, politics, etc. Make newspaper your pal for preparing for the OJEE exam 2023. Make a habit of reading the newspaper daily or watching the news. Prepare Static GK from Manorama Year Book.

Q:   Is OJEE difficult to crack?

A:

The difficulty level of the OJEE exam can vary from individual to individual, as it depends on factors such as the candidate's background, preparation level, aptitude, and familiarity with the exam pattern. However, it is generally considered to be a competitive exam that requires thorough preparation and a strong understanding of the topics covered.

To crack the OJEE exam, it is important to have a comprehensive study plan, dedicated preparation, and consistent practice. Understanding the exam pattern, syllabus, and focusing on building a strong conceptual foundation will greatly contribute to the student's success. Regularly solving OJEE sample papers, previous year question papers, and taking mock tests will help the students get acquainted with the exam pattern, improve their speed and accuracy, and identify areas that require further improvement.

Q:   Is OJEE an exam for B.Tech?

A:
No, the OJEE exam is not held for admission to B.Tech programs in the state of Odisha. Admission to the B.Tech course is mostly done on the basis of the JEE Mains score in government engineering colleges. The Odisha Joint Entrance Examination OJEE is used to handle admission to the BCAT, B.Pharma BHMS and B.A. MS programs. For those who have an engineering Diploma, a special OJEE exam is held for lateral entry into the B.Tech programme. You must take the JEE Mains exam administered by the NTA in order to enroll in the regular B.Tech course.

Q:   What is the difficulty level of OJEE?

A:

The difficulty level of the Odisha Joint Entrance Examination (OJEE) can vary depending on various factors such as individual preparation, familiarity with the exam pattern, and the specific field of study. Generally, OJEE is considered to be of moderate difficulty, especially when compared to national-level entrance exams like JEE Main or NEET.

OJEE assesses candidates' knowledge and understanding of subjects relevant to their chosen field of study, such as engineering, pharmacy, management, and others. With adequate preparation, including a thorough understanding of the OJEE syllabus, regular practice with OJEE sample papers and OJEE mock tests, and strong conceptual clarity, many candidates find OJEE manageable.

Q:   What is a good score in the OJEE exam?

A:

A good score in OJEE can be subjective and can vary according to the level of difficulty of the OJEE question paper. What may be considered a good score for one course or category may not be the same for another.

According to the previous years' OJEE analysis the following can be considered a good OJEE score:

AnalysisScore
Very Good

700+

Good

500+

Average

450+

LowLess than 450

Q:   How would I know my OJEE test centre?

A:

Candidates will know their allotted OJEE exam centre only from the admit card. There is no way to know the test centre before the release of the OJEE admit card. The examination authority allots a test centre to aspirants in the city of their first preference as mentioned in the city. So, candidates can atleast be assured that they will get a test centre in the city they had chosen as first preference in the OJEE application form. However, the venue will be mentioned only on the candidate’s admit card. So as soon as the OJEE admit card is released, candidates must check the test city and test centre details. In order to avoid any confusion, they must visit the centre at least once before the exam day.

Computer and Business Fundamentals, as the name suggests, is about computer basics and business scenarios. To ace this section, refer to the computer books of Class 9 and Class 10. Pay attention to terminologies and formulae. Read business magazines and refer to economics textbooks that you must have studied in school.

OJEE 2023 Preparation: Phase II

The second phase of OJEE preparation 2023 should be dedicated to practising mock tests and sample papers. Once you have covered the entire OJEE syllabus move on to practicing the mock tests which will help you to assess your preparations and your grasp on every topic.

Solving OJEE mock tests and previous years’ question papers will increase your speed and accuracy. This will also acquaint you with the OJEE exam pattern and the type of questions that will be asked in the exam. Even though the OJEE exam does not have a sectional time limit, speed does play a big role in fetching good marks. The duration of the exam is two hours and the candidates need to solve 120 questions. Since there would not be much time to read the questions and there is negative marking, solving mock tests and previous years’ OJEE question papers is essential if you want to increase your speed and accuracy.

OJEE 2023 Preparation: Phase III

The third phase of OJEE preparations 2023 includes the revision of all concepts and formulae. The last 15 days of OJEE preparation should be spent catching up with everything that you have studied. Go back to the topics one by one and revise them all and assess yourself. Rework on them and strengthen your concepts.

At the end of the day, it is important to know your strengths and weaknesses and assess yourself. All the best!
