Karnataka Private Post Graduate Colleges Association (KPPGCA) has mentioned KMAT eligibility criteria 2024 for admissions to MBA/PGDM and MCA courses. Candidates seeking admission to these postgraduate courses need to fulfil eligibility criteria for the KMAT 2024 exam such as qualifying degree, minimum marks, and other criteria. KMAT 2024 eligibility criteria is in accordance with the guidelines of the University Grants Commission (UGC) for professional postgraduate courses.

KMAT Eligibility Criteria for MBA/PGDM

  • Candidates should have a bachelor's degree of three-year duration from any recognised college/institute.
  • They must have obtained a minimum of 50% aggregate. However, if they belong to SC/ST categories, then they should have obtained at least 45% aggregate of all subjects in the final year examination.
  • Candidates appearing for the final year examination of their bachelor's degree are also eligible.
  • Candidates who passed a Master’s degree examination in Commerce, Management, Arts, Social Sciences, Engineering & Technology streams from any recognised institute/university are also eligible to apply for KMAT 2024.

KMAT 2024 Eligibility for MCA

  • Candidates seeking admission to MCA courses through KMAT 2024 exam must hold a bachelor degree in any stream.
  • They must have secured 50% aggregate in the final year examination of their bachelor degree.
  • Moreover, they must have studied Mathematics subject at their Class 12 level examinations.

KMAT Karnataka 2024 Domicile Criteria

Candidates belonging to any part of the country are eligible to apply for the KMAT exam. Candidates can apply for KMAT 2024 irrespective of their locality status/residential address. Earlier, KMAT eligibility as prescribed by KPPGCA, stated that only candidates residing in Karnataka can apply for the exam. KPPGCA has removed the domicile criteria now.

Q:   What is the eligibility criteria of KMAT exam?

A:

The following is the eligibility criteria to appear for KMAT Karantaka exam:

  • Age limit: Minimum 21 years old. No cap on maximum age. 
  • Qualifying Exam: It is mandatory for the candidates to hold a Bachelor degree (three years duration)/master degree in Commerce, Management, Arts, Social Sciences, Engineering/ Technology or equivalent.
  • Minimum Marks: Candidates must have passed the above mentioned qualifying examination with at least 50 per cent aggregate. SC/ST candidates have the benefit of 5 per cent relaxation. Minimum qualifying aggregate for SC/ST is 40 per cent.
  • Reservation: 15 per cent seats reserved for SC, 7.5 per cent for ST, 27 per cent for OBC and 3 per cent seats reserved for PD.

If the candidates don't have the necessary documents supporting their claim of completion of Bachelor's Degree they can be removed from the process thereafter. Candidates will then be shortlisted on the basis on their performance in KMAT. The scorecards of the candidates will be sent to the colleges The selected candidates who have qualified in KMAT need to report to their respective college to secure admissions.

Q:   What is the eligibility criteria for KMAT Karnataka?

A:
Any graduate with a minimum of 50 percent aggregate or equivalent CGPA from a recognised university is eligible to apply. However, if they belong to a reserved category (SC/ST) the minimum qualifying percentage is 45 per cent in aggregate or equivalent CGPAA: Candidates who are in their final year of graduation can also apply. There is no age limit mentioned by the exam conducting authority to appear for the exam. However, candidates must be at least 21 years old at the time of admission.

Q:   Can I appear for KMAT more than once in a year?

A:

No, candidates cannot appear more than once for the KMAT exam. The KMAT exam is held only once a year. Candidates have to wait for the next session if they miss this year's exam. The KMAT exam is being conducted in the IBT (internet-based test or online remote proctored) mode. Based on the Karnataka Management Aptitude Test scores, students can apply for admission to various programs offered by KMAT participating colleges. The exam will only be conducted in the internet-based test mode for all the sessions. The difficulty level of the KMAT exam is usually easy and the candidates can easily prepare for this exam. Candidates who wish to appear for the KMAT exam need to apply on the official website of KMAT India and fill out the KMAT application form once the application window opens. KMAT is held in about 10 test cities in the state of Karantaka, but since the exam is being held in the remote proctored mode, candidates do not have to visit the exam centre to take the exam.

Q:   What are the passing marks for KMAT?

The passing marks or cutoff scores for the KMAT (Karnataka Management Aptitude Test) can vary from year to year and from one participating institution to another. The cutoff scores are typically determined by the colleges and universities that accept KMAT scores for admission to their management programs. Each institution may have its own specific cutoff criteria based on factors such as the number of applicants, the quality of applicants, and the available seats. Q:   Do top IIMs accept KMAT score?

A:

No, IIM does not accept KMAT test scores for admission. If you want to get admission to the IIM, you will have to appear in the CAT exam. With the score of the KMAT test, you can get admission to various top colleges in the state of Karnataka. You can get admission to the following top management colleges:

Q:   Is writing the KMAT compulsory for joining MBA colleges in Karnataka?

A:
No, writing the KMAT is not compulsory for applying to MBA colleges in Karnataka. However, very few colleges offer direct admission for MBA courses, and those that do are not good colleges. As a result, you must take any entrance examinations in order to gain admission to a good MBA college. In case you missed the KMAT application date or do not want to write this exam, there are many other options available to you, which are: 1. Karnataka state's PG CET exam 2. A national-level management test such as CAT MAT XAT ATMA or CMAT. 3. International tests such as the GRE and GMAT 4. Q:   Does Mangalore University accept KMAT score?

A:

On their website, Mangalore University does not make it clear if they accept KMAT scores for MBA admissions. However, the following universities in Mangalore accept KMAT scores for admission to MBA programs:
1. Nitte Meenakshi Institute of Technology (NMIT) in Bangalore
2. The A.J. Management Institute.

Q:   How many test centres can I choose for KMAT?

A:

Candidates can choose only one KMAT test city according to their preference. Candidates must very carefully select the cities as once the KMAT application form is submitted, they can't change city preference. They should choose the first city of preference as their hometome or where they are residing as the exam authorities will likely allot the test centres to candidates in their first city of preference. Candidates should know that the KMAT test cities cannot be changed once the form is submitted even during the form correction window.

Q: I am in the final year of graduation. Can I apply for KMAT exam?

A: Yes, candidates in the final year of their graduation are eligible to apply for KMAT exam. There is no age limit as mentioned by the exam conducting authorities in order to appear for the KMAT Karnataka exam. 

Q: I have not studied Mathematics in graduation. Am I eligible to appear for KMAT MCA exam?

A: Candidates who have studied Mathematics in Class 12 or graduation are eligbile to apply for MCA course.

Q: I have completed my graduation in arts stream. Can I apply for KMAT?

A: Yes, candidates from any discipline or course are eligible to apply for KMAT provided they have secured the minimum aggregate required in the qualifying exam.

Q: Which documents are required for KMAT application form?

A: Candidates who wish to appear for the KMAT exam must have Class 10, Class 12 and Graduation marksheets, Dates of Birth Certificate, Address Proof, Caste Category Certificate, Credit card, Debit card or Net Banking details for online fee payment, scanned copies of signatures and passport-size photograph.

Q: When will the KMAT registrations begin?

A: The KMAT registrations will likely begin in the first week of June. The KMAT application process is completely online and there is no provision to fill the KMAT application form offline. To complete the application process candidates need to carefully fill the registration form and pay the application fee online. 

Q: I belong to the reserved category. What is the minimum percentile required for KMAT?

A: Candidates must have secured a minimum of 50% aggregate in graduation. However, candidates belonging to the reserved category must have secured 45% aggregate in graduation.

Q: I belong to Assam. Can I appear for KMAT Karnataka exam?

A: Yes, candidates belonging to any state or region of India can apply for KMAT. Earlier, the guidelines stated that only Karnataka residents can apply for KMAT Karnataka, but, 2018 onwards this criteria has been removed.

Q: Is the eligibility criteria for KMAT and other MBA exams the same?

A: The minimum eligibility criteria for all the MBA exams is graduation from a recognised university. However, the minimum aggregate required may vary from one exam to another. Majority of the MBA exam, like KMAT, ATMA, CAT, etc. require a minimum of 50 percent aggregate. 

Q: What is the KMAT application fee? Is there a fee concession for reserved categories?

A: The KMAT application fee is INR 800 excluding GST. No, there is no fee concession for the reserved categories. The application fee is the same for all the students.

Q: Can I appear for KMAT multiple times?

A: KMAT Karnataka is conducted only once a year. Candidates who were not able to appear for the 2022 exam can appear for the 2023 session.

Q: Is there an age limit to appear for the KMAT Karnataka exam?

A: No. There is no age limit prescribed to appear for the KMAT exam. Anyone can apply for KMAT exam at any phase in their career. However, they must be atleast 21 years of age at the time of admission.
