My First Trimester at NMIMS: Raghav Raj Jaggi

NMIMS, Mumbai

Finally, the day had arrived when I was all suited up, filled with excitement and apprehension, as to what lies ahead. My MBA journey had begun, a Mumbaikar for the next two years, a proud NMIMS student forever. The first few weeks were a smooth transition from a regular routine to one, which required great mental vigor. A myriad of guest sessions, creative workshops, tours around Mumbai, and even theatrical plays were organized by our seniors to make sure we were aligned with the vision of NMIMS at the earliest onset. I soon realized why all this was crucial, right in the beginning of our MBA journey.

We had barely blinked, and our induction program had concluded. It was time to get down to business. The first challenge that came up our alley was, making it in time for the 8 AM session. For someone who loves sleep more than chocolate, it was a BIG sacrifice. I was proud of myself. The eighty minute lectures seemed to get over faster than they should have, because a multitude of information and knowledge was transferred to us on a daily basis. I realized how much there was to learn, how much there was to gain out of.

As we got acquainted with our seniors and college administration, the committee selection process started, and it truly was very competitive and professional, just as we all had envisaged. Students were interviewed for the committees they were interested in. Some did it, running after their passion, other did with the fear of missing out. Either way, no one came out disappointed. After multiple rounds of the selection procedure, I found myself as a part of the Student Council Representatives Team of 80 odd students from our batch. Adrenalin kicking in, I was exhausted, but definitely NOT done.

As the intensity of lectures increased, so did project work and submissions, I felt like I was falling in an abyss but what pulled me out were the kind of experiences I was being part of and the kind of memories I was making along. Time flew faster than it seemed in college, and months felt like days nowadays. Then I blinked again, and the End Terms were around the corner and I felt like I wasn’t ready for them. Soon I realized that I was just one amongst all other 600+ students from my batch. But what I didn’t lose, was hope and dedication to give my hundred percent. This is something that one can’t afford to lose, because it all ends when hope dies.

As I managed academics with all other activities in college along with regularly being in touch with my loved ones, I gained a lot in experience and I believe a lot of it is hidden in between all the highs and the lows, the yeses and the no’s, and these experiences culminate into a jar of memories that we open from time to time, like I have now. I hope I keep learning in leaps and bounds, experiencing more, so that I can open this jar of memories again, sometime.
