The NEET UG 2024 counselling mop-up round or Round 3 dates have been announced by the Medical Counselling Committee (MCC), the counselling authority, on July 29, 2024. MCC has announced the important dates for all four rounds of NEET UG counselling 2024, including the Round 3, previously known as the Mop-up round. The NEET UG counselling 2024 mop-up round will be conducted from September 26, 2024, to October 15, 2024. In this article of Shiksha, we bring to you a detailed account of the NEET 2024 counselling mop-up round.

With the conclusion of the first two rounds of NEET 2024 counselling, for candidates who would not be allotted a seat in MBBS, BDS and BSc Nursing courses at their choice of college, the Mop-up round is the second last chance to redeem their scope of medical admission.

Who Are Eligible to Participate in the NEET Mop-up Round Counselling?

Before planning to register for the NEET UG counselling mop-up round, candidates must have fulfilled the following criteria:

  • Candidates who had registered in Round 2 and exited with forfeiture of fees.

  • Candidates who were not allotted a seat in Round 2.

  • Candidates who secured a seat under reserved quota and whose second round of allotted seats got cancelled during the document verification on reporting for admission. 

  • Candidates who had reported at the allotted institute during the second round of allotment and submitted willingness for mop-up round up-gradation as Yes.

NEET 2024 Counselling Mop-up Round Registration Process

The NEET 2024 Mop-up round counselling registration process has to be done online by visiting the official website of MCC. Prior to the choice filling process, MCC will release the programme-wise seat vacancy list based on the net vacant seats due to non-joining, and non-reporting of Round 2. Eligible candidates have to submit fresh choices and the result will be processed as per Choice & Merit. The step by step procedure to register for this round is given below:

  • Candidates have to visit the official website of MCC – mcc.nic.in 

  • Click on the tab indicating NEET UG Counselling followed by the ‘Online Registration’ tab.

  • Enter details such as name, registration number, personal details, academic details and the details mentioned on their NEET result.

  • Pay the NEET 2024 registration fee through debit/credit card/net banking/UPI modes.

NEET 2024 Mop-Up Round Seat Allotment Result Factors

The factors on the basis of which seat allotment result is prepared are as follows:

  • Total number of AIQ seats

  • Choices filled and locked by candidates

  • NEET 2024 rank and score of candidates

  • Reservation criteria

  • Validity of NEET counselling registration submission

What After NEET 2022 Mop-Up Round Seat Allotment Result?

Once the seat allotment result of the NEET 2024 mop-up round is declared, candidates will need to fulfil the following steps:

  • Download the seat allotment order.

  • Report to the allotted institute and complete the admission process.

  • In case candidates are not satisfied with the allotted seat, they can opt for ‘Upgrade’ and then participate in the Stray Vacancy counselling process of NEET 2024.

Till 2022, the NEET counselling mop-up round was the last round till which candidates could register. However, last year onwards, candidates are given the opportunity to register and fill in choices in the fourth and last round, or the Stray Vacancy round as well. 

In case of vacant seats, MCC will conduct further rounds of counselling either for all three courses, or one single course, depending on the seat vacancy status. MCC is led by the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS). MCC will conduct NEET counselling for 1,09,170 MBBS and 27,868 BDS seats in India. The total number of BSc Nursing seats allotted through MCC NEET counselling will be around 1,000.

You cannot get admission into MBBS course at any Medical College without clearing the NEET Entrance Exam. Even for admission in Private Medical Colleges you need atleast 150 marks out of 720 in NEET. However you can join MBBS directly if you go abroad.
